Does it have a separate lower case like on a PowerBook? If you flip a PB over, the whole bottom side comes off real easy by just removing the screws.

The reason why there's a problem with Apple's current quality is because the computers are being assembled in China by a bunch of slackers who are a bunch of freaking idiots! You wouldn't be having these problems if Macs were made in Germany!

It has nothing to do with the fact that it's in China. It has to do with the fact they are using unqualified workers and not giving them enough incentive to do a better job.

Bentbook Pro

I had this problem on my first MBP, the case was clearly warped and did exactly what yours did. I would take a guess that its the same problem and nothing to do with the feet.

Time for a replacement if possible.

Hope you get it sorted!!

Enjoy paying $5000 for a MacBook, then.

You'd have to be a hardcore red white and blue flag boy to pay $5000 for a laptop made in USA; and that's me! :)

But the greedy bastards at Apple could just lower their profit margin rather than raise the price for having a product produced domestically.

If it were up to me, all of our ICBM's would be on their way to China right now.

Seriously, you see this in every type of product purchase.

Most BMW purchasers, for example, don't see it as a "big deal" that they are buying a BMW. They've always bought a premium car. When it's time for a car, they walk into the BMW dealership and buy a new one. The drive it home and enjoy it for a while, then drive it for a few years and sell it to buy another.

But the 'aspiring" BMW purchaser is different. First, they dream about it for a decade. Then they read everything in print and on-line about it. They have 10,000 posts on every BMW board before they step foot into the dealership. The salesperson is confused when they ask the revision of the ECM before the test drive, and offended when the customer refuses to test drive a 325 with the "dreaded 2.17a ECM with the fourth gear closed throttle barely audible intake stutter", insisting that the new 325 just off the truck with the 2.18 ECM be prepped for a test drive.

Once home, the five day inspecto-thon begins. 100 Flickr photos are posted to all the websites. Threads like "Should I be worried... 2.2 ECMs rumored" and "BMW quality is *#&$(#&*, passenger door handle less shiny than driver side". Folks chime in that yes, OP should be worried, the 2.2 ECM corrects the auto-dim dashlight algorithm to accomodate daylight savings time and upgrades are rumored to be 90 days out... DST will be over by then! A few say "Dude, chill, who cares what ECM you have, and the door handles look identical in the photos". Responses are of course "FANBOY!" and "Ignore the BMW worshipper, email HeinrichGueben@bmw.com if you want results" and "BMW should NEVER ship a car with a flaw, ever, and I'll stake my ZERO days of experience in manufacturing on that opinion!".

Of course Apple has problems at the volume they deliver. Of course they take care of the problems. Of course these problems "matter" to you in direct proportion to how much this purchase "matters".

There's a tendency of the young to extrapolate EVERYTHING into an irreversible trend. Nobody could make a buck off of "global warming" if folks could evaluate data unemotionally, but since most can't, there's a ton of money to be made on bad extrapolations.

But I digress... what did Apple Care say? They're 7x24, right?

Not when the company's more concerned with making "I'm a Mac" commercials than it is with acknowledging the host of problems plaguing their notebook lines.

You have some statistics to back up that 'host of problems' or are you just going by hearsay?

Good commercials help profitability. I read that somewhere in Branding #101.

well said.

Sorry for the delayed response on this guys, been really busy with the holidays and work.

To catch everyone up (especially the doubters), I was fortunate enough to be helped by a *true* technician whom was completely down to earth, honest, and sincere.

He looked at it, and was completely disgusted with how wobbly it was.

A new mac is on the way.

This is an example of how mac *does* care in the long run, however, it is still sad that they don't have better QC to stop it from even happening.

Seriously though, this tech has changed my whole perspective on Apple.

edit:

After reading through some of your comments, let me clarify *again* what I mean when I say "Apple Doesn't Care"

I do not mean they don't care about *anything*, I'm strictly talking about quality control. If you have a good argument about that, by al means let me know... but their QC sucks... and they don't seem to show they care. I've owned many other laptops and products that never have as many small issues as apple products.

Apple does, however, have amazing customer service most of the time. But it would be nice if they were as good at the front of the equation as they are at the end of the equation.

I can't personally complain with Apple and their customer service.

They gave me a new battery 2 months after my warrenty was up because she said "Were you having trouble 2 months ago with this?" I said no....She repeated it....I finally got it....and I said "Yes" so she said my last warrenty covered it :D

How do you know it happened while in apples (china's) hands. Maybe some fat ass bestbuy dude or a dockworker sat down and had his lunch on your $3000.00 chair. Or a truck driver had his seat riser go out so he grabbed that for a quick booster. Or maybe a forklift driver was off that day and a secretary filled in and mashed the pallets together. Some guy at UPS need a stepping stool to reach the radio volume in the warehouse.

To me it seems entirely impossible that it could even be assembled while bent. How in the hell would they line up the very miniscule screws and hinges..etc.

I would bet $5.00 it happened after manufacture.

P.S. Can't you just bend the table a little?

You know, before saying "Apple doesn't care," you should have found out by asking if they would help you. Your original post gives no indication that you had even tried to get the problem dealt with, and as has been pointed out, no company of any type will ever send out any product in volume without a single computer causing problems. Quite frankly, your post was a bit absurd.

That said, yes, it was a problem and should be fixed by Apple, as it apparently was. I'd say you had a good experience, not a negative one, except of course for your attitude towards it.

Read further. It was the "If Apple cared, they would achieve the unachievable... perfect quality in every unit" argument. Usually followed by the "at these prices..." justification, as if these were $100k space shuttle computers. Which also have flaws, by the way, as does anything else built by man.

Don't worry, I saw that. ;) I was simply trying to provide a way he could have gotten out of a statement like that with a tiny bit of dignity left.

Good to hear the peoblem is being sorted.

I can't believe that Americans still think BMW are quality cars. LMAO

Anything that happened after manufacture as you suggest would be obvious from a severely trashed box. I've had this problem in two Macs and neither had damaged boxes.

Was there any damage to the box? I sure it' would've been noted by the OP.

PM me and I'll let you know how to send the $5:)

had this problem

i have had a warped casing issues and all i can tell you is dont expect apple to cover it....it doesnt seem to matter how new or old the notebook is or if you have the warranty....basically they are going to ******** you and tell you its your fault and that you have to pay....i took mine to two seperate stores for my casing problem and one wanted me to pay 600 while the other wanted 1000....figure how that is???? i am seriously considering a lawsuit as the warranty does say the only cosmetic damage it wont cover is the kind that doesnt affect the use of the notebook....mine on the other hand completely renders the dvd/cd drive completely useless voiding their part of the terms and conditions...apple cant just pick and choose they need to be more specific in there apple care warranty .....goodluck man

So, a wobble means that Apple doesn't care about quality control? Part of life is dealing with little niggling things and rising above them. Should a $3000 notebook be without flaw? Why yes, of course it should. But do imperfect computers sometimes escape from the factory? Obviously. But just because you have had an exceedingly minor issue doesn't mean that Steve Jobs should charge into the factories and sack every QC technician. Mistakes are made, your irrational sense of entitlement aside. My advice is instead of whinging like the world has come to an end and everyone at Apple should be castrated (or worse). Forgive my candor, but your melodramatic description of your problem deserves such. You'll find many realists on these boards, mixed with fanboys, but that doesn't mean you should disregard either. I realize that you are unhappy with your issue (as you have every right to be), but the best policy is to normally seek a solution with the manufacturer rather than trolling message boards making ludicrous statements. It has a tendency to make you look small-minded and bitchy.

I won't go into what responding to the likes of you makes one look like... ;)

I would take it in to an Apple Store and show them how it didn't sit flush. It would be like sitting at an uneven table the whole day that was wobbling as you repositioned yourself. Annoying as hell, especially knowing you have to live with it for years to come.

Not acceptable by any means!
