1. Thinks cameras over $500 are too expensive
2. Doesn't want to learn to edit photos (or shoot in manual mode)
3. Resents smartphones in the camera segment
4. Thinks Mr. Powershot can do it all

Have I covered all the high points? I'm really wondering why you participate in this forum. You have shown very little interest in actual photography.

I’ll just stick with my Mr. Sony A1 and my Mrs. Sony A7rii and not worry about all that :)

How absurd! Mr. Powershot has 9999 photos at 10MP so why would he need a smart phone camera and to shoot in RAW to edit photos for?

Maybe it’s everyone else that hasn’t been paying attention because they are all liars! Did you buy any camera gear at Best Buy for Black Friday?

all i know is that is exhausting.

This guy is an enigma. He constantly poo poos on phones for not being true cameras while at the same time saying he can’t afford a real camera while at the same time saying Mr Powershot is a real camera while at the same time saying he doesn’t know how to use it while at the same time saying he’s trying to learn with the manual while at the same time saying he doesn’t have time for this or money for that. My head is spinning.

Also I hate the photoshop liars.

I’m starting to think this is all just a social experiment and we are the Guinea pigs

Right. Its a shrinking market because everyone uses phones these days. Tell me about it.
Also remember that before the smartphone cameras arrived, then the vast majority of people didn't have a camera at all. Or at best it was a disposable 110 or 35mm

Now we have great cameras on smartphones which ticks the boxes for this demographic and so now everyone is a photographer. There always has and always will be a customer base that wants a dedicated device that is not a jack of all trades but is strong at one thing.

You can create documents and spreadsheets on your phone yet you still use a laptop or a desktop computer right? because the process is easier and more convenient.

The P&S market is in severe decline but mainly in the lower end of the market - the commodity end of the market.

Not wanting to offend or annoy or debate but Mr Powershot is not aimed at enthusiasts or prosumers. It is aimed at a demographic who want a slightly better camera than a phone enough to want to buy a dedicated device, yet who are not that serious that they want to enter into the ILC or high end P&S market. The advances in the camera capabilities on phones is making the line at which this happens blurs further as each new generation of phone arrives.

There’s no such thing as too much for a camera. Just ask @kenoh. He had to sell one of his Porsche’s to fund his GAS addiction ?

I would give the correct response to this but I am only just back out of the sin bin and dont want to be put back in again too soon.... :)

On topic though.... I edit my images to repair them..... as in after I mangled them while taking them, I like to edit them to make them look like I had even the slightest clue what I was doing at the time....

Honestly that is considered low for a camera. You can't get much of anything below that price point.
To me my camera is great. Does all that I need and more. Remember photography to me is a hobby and not a profession. All I want is good pictures and video and Powershot does the job very well. It has lots of features, displays better in bright sunlight over iPhone and all.

I'm also just a hobbyist and wanted to improve my pictures. So I spent real money on gear.

To me Powershot has little to improve except maybe shooting in manual mode. A critic claims that I only shoot in auto mode but this is simply not true.

You can't easily adjust the ISO, exposure, or aperture. So no you can't easily shoot manual.
