There are no good headphones with lightning? Is that really the absolute statement you want to make? And how can weyou know Type C will support superior sound to lightning when there’s no single example? I mean, you say lightning can’t power high impedance headphones. But why don’t you think they can?
Just look at how Apple treats BT audio. Aptx, Aptx-HD, LDAC... Need I say more? Android already beats Apple in quality and bandwidth for high quality music via bluetooth, for quite some time. Android runs circles around iphone when it comes to DAC's in some phones like LG for instance. Take for instance airplay. It is limited to 16 bit/44khz playback. While Android users are experiencing 24bit/192khz. Again, why would lightning cable be better than usb type C for sound? Everything, including the physical cable itself, points to being much more superior than lightning. Not to mention, but it is the STANDARD going forward.

I thought we were talking about mainstream...

Mainstream wise, lightning will only work on the iphone. Usb type C works on just about all hardware in the last few years, from PC's, Mac's, phones, etc. Lightning will not become the mainstream nor standard because of this. Apple doesn't have lightning ports on their own AIO or laptops.

No, wireless will. I just realized that with all the talk of codecs and how aptX is better, and how bad Apple is at audio because of 16hz vs 24 that you’re missing that the average person is going to have the bottleneck of the service they’re streaming audio from.

Thumbs up. Hope you end up enjoying it. Don’t pay a lot of people here any mind, Samsung makes a great phone.
Big improvement over both my Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6s! Android has changed a lot since 4.4.4 kitkat. I do miss the fluidity and simplicity of iOS but I really am liking the S9 Plus... Hard choice between S9 Plus and iPhone X! Samsung themes are awesome, loving the stereo speakers, and the screen is to die for (and doesn't have a notch!!!)

Android can be as fluid if you’re willing to put in a day or two and go through settings and tweak things.

That only affects those who don't care for high quality sound. For those like me who enjoy high quality, and the bandwidth that only line-in currently provides, going all wireless would be a slap in the face. Regardless if the average person does not notice the difference in quality, there are several that appreciate having the option to do so. Check out Sony, they are pushing LDAC headphones, which exhibit superior quality over standard BT headphones. Now imagine having headphones that sound even better than that, which only exist in wired form.

Considering most people stick with whatever came with the phone, and they stream music from some service, most people don’t care about audio quality.

How much better "sounds" the S9 over headphones compared to the iPhone X! – it is not a question, but an affirmation!

Yes, but what phones come with wireless BT headphones? And why would everyone be ok with degrading their current audio quality, to go for wireless? Not everyone can appreciate high resolution, but many can tell the difference when they switch between them. Remember how many said that the free wired earbuds apple provided sound the same or better than airpods? Or how people who got a new phone and immediate noticed how much better a quad dac sounded with steamed music, compared to their older phone? People do notice the change in quality. And many are not willing to spend $150 to get the same or less audio quality.

Majority of Android manufactures prefer not to go wireless, as the market is far from ready for that. Which is why you see them including headphone jacks still. Which brings up a good question. If wireless is the way to go, how come apple still includes a headphone jack in the newly released 2018 iPad?

Lol I'm guessing your being sarcastic, but forgot the /s? There only seen to be a very small handful that removed the headphone jack. But even those manufactures without a jack, provide an alternative to use wired headphones still.
I'm talking about the bigger manufacturers like Google, MTC, LG, Samsung. There are thousands of Android manufacturers, I was only talking about the big boys.

You must mean Flagships. Cause they is no manufacturer that I know of yet that produces all their models without a headphone jack, besides Apple and Google.

Why would anyone purchase anything other than a flagship? (Unless they're tight on cash) yes I'm talking about flagship devices! Thanks for clearing that up though.

Essential. Now $399. Relies on BT unless you must use a jack then it’s USBC which is not perfect. So what to me.

Too many problems for cost or really having owned Note models, Galaxy, Blackberry and Huawei Mate models I’m more than happy with Essential. And to not be tied to iOS iPhone X.

That's the big draw of Android. There are low cost ($50-$200) alternatives that get maybe 80-90% of a flagship phone experience.

Personally, Android is still very open. I can install whatever apks (Android apps) outside of the PlayStore. I'm not talking about pirated apps, there's a load of quality apps that aren't available on the Play Store.

Music is a big reason for me to stay on Android. I don't use streaming services, so I can download files from BandCamp or private server use them in any number of music apps without fussing with iTunes.

Samsung Pay is a better system for me since it can be used on any credit card terminal, even those without NFC.

If you're a computer geek that plays with Linux, you can (legally) torrent a Linux distribution and connect it to a PC and live test or install the OS on to it. :geek:

Interesting you say that.
So far I have found I spent more time trying to get my 7+ just right than I have with my Razer.
Settings is one area I feel Android now has a step up over iOS. IMO, iOS needs a serious cleanup / reformat.

Daily driver is S9, iPhone X (soon to be sold / traded in for RED iPhone 8) demoted to back up. Here are my reasons why Android is far more useful to me:

1. Android Auto. Google maps and Waze baked into car interface.
2. LTE modem in S9 supports gigabit LTE whereas Apple's $1000 phone does not. Important for carrier aggregation and when network is congested.
3. LDAC bluetooth audio codec.
4. Notifications that are useful and always on if I want them to be.
5. Terrarium TV.
6. Ad-free (free) modded YouTube app with carrier resolution cap override. Up yours Verizon.
7. Samsung Pay.
8. Google Assistant.
9. No notch (for now).

Interesting you say that. I haven’t had to do any work to keep my iOS device running well, aside from when a beta would really mess things up. I kind of wish iOS would let me kill animations, though.

Because the 2018 iPad had enough space for the headphone jack and Apple doesn’t just remove things for no reason.

People don’t buy phones with quad dacs.

iPhone 7 and 8 have more than enough room for a headphone jack! Even the X, with its Notch. The Galaxy S9/S9+ kept the headphone jack! Apple removed th headphone jack so people would buy the apple air pods.

Have you even looked at the inside of the 7/8/X? Or watched what the guy had to do to put a headphone jack on his iPhone? He had to cram all the parts really close together, battery being a heat insulator closer to the processor that it a heat producer, and even had to move the Taptic Engine. He also had to remove the barometric vent.

So he had to really jack up his phone to add that in because of internal space issues.

I currently use an iPhone, but I have used many Android phones in the past. One huge thing Android has always had over iOS is better notifications. It's not even close. Notifications are far more powerful and far easier to manage on Android. There are other benefits as well. It's not like Apple does everything better, and they never will, so there will always be reasons for people to use Android.
