Since I already have the 42mm SS with too many bands, I thought it was going to take a really impressive Series 2 watch to make me want to spend $500 or so for a new SS watch. I like the idea of GPS and I saw with the OS3 betas what they showed today - its nice to have those maps when you run/walk or bike and you can now only go for a run with the watch and bluetooth headphones and still get the accurate stats/splits/distance/etc.

I wasn't impressed enough to buy a new one, but I think I will buy the Nike 42mm with the Black/Gray band and use that for all workouts, yard work, mowing, swimming, weekends, etc. For that price, it is worth it and I can always have my 42mm SS for everything else where I want a more professional looking watch. Just my opinion.

Exactly same decision here.

The watch has a PERMANENT Nike complication. I assume that means you cannot remove it from the watch face? That I am afraid is a bit poo. I am undecided between the two watches when I upgrade.

Series 2 (totally customisable as I want it) or Nike edition (app - probably stuck with a crap app when there may be better out there)

The Nike volt green and black strap is awesome though.

Dilemma.

Permanent on NIKE watch face I believe. You can choose other faces if you don't want it.

With so much confusion in this thread alone re: complications, hopefully Apple/Nike will clarify things in the next few days.

And while at first blush, this Nike Apple venture seems to muddy the product line. But one can't overlook the reach and power of the of Nike brand worldwide.

Nike products are carried in sports and running shops as well as in retail Niketowns. This marketing initiative will simply add Apple Watch to more locations (especially in cities without an Apple store nearby).

Not sure anyone noticed, but the Nike watch face is like the extra large face with three complications added. Surely Apple could make this available in a similar style for everyone - right? Not to interfere with this new Nike deal, but that is a nice watch face and shows how Apple can add way more faces for everyone.

Not sure where confusion coming from since we already have a perfect precedence, Hermes Apple Watch. In the end Apple Watch will be Apple Watch no matter who is partner. You can do everything Apple Watch can do and have every faces in iOS 3.
For example, I'm sure you will be able to run with Runkeeper on Apple Watch NIKE version no problem.

The Nike version adds a complication for the Nike+ app in every face (in every-every face, or just in every Nike-branded face?). Makes it more convenient to set up and launch.
My question is what is the difference between the one on the Nike watch, and the current complication? I think the only real differences are the band, and a couple of faces with everything else being the same.

I saw that it comes with 2 new watch faces and I'm still trying to clarify whether the permanent Nike complication refers to those two watch faces only. I'd like the option of not having them there for the other watch faces.

I'm fairly certain it would be specifically for those two watch faces. I highly doubt they would be for every watch face because not only does not that make sense, but it would also cause a question of which other default complications did they take out, to put the nike one in there - completely unnecessary work and potential for issue.

Probably the same complication, but since Nike has rights to those faces, they get to keep the complication present, too.

I don't think anything is stopping anyone from putting other running apps on the Nike watch (which is what some here seem to be worrying about).

Yes, they won't though.

I'm considering buying an Apple Watch now that it has GPS. I do run and the Nike+ one looks pretty cool. My only problem is that it looks like it is restricted to only the Nike watch faces. Is this true?

Clearly a lot of confusion remains on the Nike watch (I'm also confused).

If there is no difference other than the watch face/complication, why is it taking an extra 6 weeks for this one to ship? Is the software that runs on the watch significantly different? I wonder if the "Nike run club" will get all your data sent to it automatically (hopefully with an option to turn that off).

As others have said, I can't imagine they would disable other running apps, but having a nifty running watch face sure would be nice. My guess is Apple won't allow that. Annoying.

Nike put up a page ( http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/nike-plus/apple-watch ) talking about the watch, but it is also hazy on exactly what the differences are. It really seems to me that it is only the watch face. Why 6 week delay?

Ignore me. Someone posted a Cnet video showing that the watch does in fact come with the stock watch faces as well as the Nike ones.

I kind of like the band and think it would be superior during a heavy sweat, but for me it being released later is the nail in the coffin. I will likely get black sport band and a third party leather band on amazon.

I can't see a really good reason to buy it other than for the straps.

You're not going to using the exclusive watch face (if that's what it is) when actually running - any running app (including Nike Running Club) shows a different screen during a workout in any event.

Also, be wary of being sucked into using the Nike iPhone and watch running apps this way - they are far inferior imho to other options out there. After 4 years of using them I have just given up and switched to Strava.

So I have been waffling on whether to buy a watch, I don't use my other apple watch but I've started cycling and will start running again but had some issues to work out before that. I forgot about pre-orders but watch demand isn't always high anyway, but decided to look when I woke up and the dates for shipping of all the other watches is early october, a few weeks wait won't kill me.

Isn't it possible that the nike watch will have less available space and worst battery life with the extra faces and software? I'm just guessing, don't really have much of knowledge about this stuff. I think the only thing good is the exclusive bands.

Even saying an extremely minuscule effect would still be a HUGE overstatement.

And will the custom Nike stuff cause crashes of any sort? And when you do a watchOS update will it be different for the Nike model vs. standard model?

I'm really not clear on exact differences, so I think I'll just order the standard series 2 AW, and end up getting a 3rd party band that will look like the Nike band. :)

Nike is NOT writing the OS. The Nike watch faces will just be unique to this model (like the Hermes). In all likelihood the Nike+ app will be the same and run the same on any :apple:Watch which is terrible unless we get a good update next week. Nice bands.

I ordered the Nike+ Watch. While I do not want to wait, I still have the 1st generation and will have the software update to play around with.

Like the rest of you, I'm hoping that the Nike screens are not always permanent and that you can change faces sometimes.

And hell, if it all proves not to be true. then I'll return it during the grace period and get a different Apple Watch. They should be back in stock by that point anyways.

I'm still confused...besides the band is the actual watch the same as the regular sport watch?
