Maybe to give Nike a LOT of time to try and straighten out the mess they made of Nike+. :D
I think you are actually correct. The Runners Club "upgrade" has really ruined Nike+ for a lot of us. My guess is that Apple had intended to release the Nike+ model immediately, but the software debacle forced a delay.

The Nike Watch will also have specific siri commands baked in that are not on the Normal Apple Watches.

I kind of want to replace my Series 1 Black/Sport just for that band and the faces. Though I rarely run. (in fact, I hate running :]) But I really love the Nike Volt (fluorescent lime green) color. Maybe I can sell my Series 1; its in great shape.

1st Generation. ;)

Same. If I did run, it wouldn't be for exercise!

In my case, I'm thinking of getting a Space Grey just because of it, despite wearing a silver since launch.

I have still not ordered a new Apple Watch 2 or Nike edition yet because of all the confusion over -
  • Is the Nike complication PERMANENT on EVERY watch face you use?
  • Do you have full customisation like we are already used to having?
  • Can you turn off the "Let's go for a run, fatty" nagging? I do plenty of fitness activity and running and I will get annoyed by it constantly bleeping at me.
Until these questions are answered (and I CANNOT get through to a specialist to ask) it is a no sale.

COME ON APPLE I WANT TO SPEND MY MONEY!

Can't you just order first and cancel from Apple later? You should even be able to return what you don't want afterwards, right?

Unfortunately for reasons I can't! Most annoying! I did just call Apple direct and they do not know any of the answers to the questions. They are asking the local store Watch specialist to call me but I doubt they will know either as the stores do not yet have demo models (they get them the same time we do).

1) I read that the Nike complication is only permanent on the nike specific watch faces, you also will get other watch faces.
2) Yes
3) I believe that is only if you have the Nike app enabled. So I imagine yes.

Personally, I ordered the Nike watch even though I don't run right now but its in the works. If I don't like it, it is going back.

What do you mean by that?

So if I utter some phrase to Siri on a Nike watch it will do X, but if I issue that on a Series 2 (or my original AW for that matter), it will not understand, or perform what I say?

Nike says it on their page
http://news.nike.com/news/apple-watch-nike

"Apple Watch Nike+ also includes exclusive Siri® commands and iconic Nike watch faces along with deep integration with the new Nike+ Run Club app"

Who knows what they mean exactly though.

Its just an Apple Watch Series 2... with Nike lipstick

- Special Nike branded watch faces with Nike Run Club complication/shortcut
- Special Nike Sport Band

ANY Apple Watch can have the Nike Run Club complication if the app makes it available...

Yeah but why would they do that, when they can sell you a Nike specific watch altogether? Don't expect the Nike software additions to be made available to quickly...

I think he's on to something here. If you ask Siri questions during a workout, she will promptly respond with the motivational phrase "Just do it!", every single time.

Unless they remove it, they already have a complication for the watch. I'd look for the current complication to retain its current function.

As for customization of the watch face complications, the Nike website states even the Nike faces can be customized.

That too gives me some serious pause.

They made it a point to mention how annoying the reminders will turn out to be.

I guess for those of us who run, do we really need to be prodded to go out for a run?

Agreed that once you have your routine built, the reminders would get annoying. Still, for the beginners and the ones that are trying to build a running routine this could be kind of a support, just like the coach feature is. Anyways, I guess one could always turn off the reminders?

I'm intrigued by the custom faces/complications as well as the band (black/grey). So, I'll wait... sigh

Quoting my own post here. No one from the Apple Store called. :(

You have some serious problems with being patient. I wonder what you're like in rush hour traffic.

Just keep yer pants on and you'll find out later. Sheesh.

Please offer examples (controlling the Nike+ app???) and a source.

Trevor Edwards at the Apple Watch Nike+ announcement: "And if you prefer, you can just tell Siri to start a run, and off you go. It's that simple."

[doublepost=1473644148][/doublepost]This video seems to show an Apple employee talking through the Nike+ edition. At the 4 second mark she says there are two different Watch faces that come with the Nike+.

Unfortunately for the overly cautious, she didn't swipe through to different Watch faces.

But this next one does.

At around the 18 sec mark he swipes right to reveal what seems to be the Photo or Photo Album Watch face, followed by the Modular. You can't tell for sure if there's a Nike Complication in the Modular, but the Photo/Photo Album Watch face only shows time and Apple Music:

Just order your Apple Watch Nike+ already!!

:D

Yep, I can't bring myself to order the Sport white band. I want the Nike grey band so I am holding out for Nike.
I already have a SS and a ton of bands. At least with the Nike band I feel like I am only throwing $350 instead of $400 into the garbage.

I ordered a Volt Nike Sport. I don't run, but that watch is hot. I just look at as a regular Series 2 sport with additional features for the same price. How can you go wrong? I'll be replacing my launch day sport.

Oh wow, how she hammers on that watch making it look really unresponsive. Worst show-off ever.

I'm pretty sure it's just a marketing thing. Nike paid Apple some large some of money to make a Nike branded Apple Watch so they could push the Nike+ app on to more people and collect of user fitness data. Throw in a cheap band and preinstall it with Nike bloat and call it a special addition; seems like a very smart business plan to me. I'd be shocked if the Nike Apple watch can do anything that the regular Apple watch can't do after installing the Nike+ app on it.
