I think that watching Microsoft is like hearing the Pearl Harbor misquote, "I fear that all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant". If/when MS ever gets serious about WM, look out. The WM devices these days have incredible hardware; they just need the OS updated.

Well, I think that with all the positive reviews WM6.5 has been getting, plus the Pink project that is rumoured to be going really well, you may be right. After all, with such a coherent mobile device strategy that has just 3 completely different platforms (WM, Zune, Pink), what could possibly go wrong?

Dear Glossy, re your last comment about the HD2 wanting to be an iphoneeven if it did (which I don't think it does) why would you have a problem with that?

I think you misunderstand my point of view - I don't have a "problem", I'm just laughing at all the "iPhone killer" phones, NONE of which have succeeded in the task which they set out to complete - to "kill" iPhone, and create something better.

Just goes to show where the TRUE geniuses reside.

If and when they DO "kill" iPhone, it will be too late - Apple will raise the bar even higher with a something new and unthought of, and then the whole ridiculously unimaginative cloning process will start over again. :D

That would work in theory but things like MMS not being out on day one is 100% with out a doubt Apple's fault. That one was standard Steve Jobs having a stick up his ass thinking his way was better.

Tethering I will give Apple some slack on. The original iPhone was classified as a dumb phone.

Things like copy paste and MMS missing is not acceptable. I also think it is rather sad the original phone lacked G3.

Just send an email. It's amazing. You can even attach photos. :D

And FREE, unlike MMS, which is a ripoff!. Why would you even send an MMS, when ALL modern phones SHOULD be email capable (which includes sending & receiving attachments!). Only us Europeans would get sucked into the scam which is 20-35 pence for sending something like a TINY, cropped, low-quality picture or video.

Clutching at straws, much?. Why are you SO desparate to have someone comment in a positive way, about a platform which is plain rubbish?. There IS no user experience, bar a terrible one. Who on earth puts a "start" button on a mobile UI?. Pleasssssseee!!

If you want THE definition of user experience, boot up ya iPhone :).

This was not directed at you. I did not mention windows mobile, I asked about user experience. I would have asked you but I prefer a sane answer.

Large app stores like Handango have been around for almost a decade.

Unlike that Apple chart, which only showed company owned stores, places like Handango have something like 16,000 RIM apps and I forget, something like over 30,000 WM (corrections welcome). So Apple could've still "won" in number of apps. They just wanted to look lots better for some reason.

Not that it matters. I thought everyone here believed that quality was preferred over quantity... whether it be apps or devices?

Apologies, I'm not familiar with Handango, so please forgive my ignorance. Do they reject any apps? Do they have an approval process?

And obviously, WM and BlackBerry being more open then Apple, will allow for more apps to exist. I imagine we would have a similar number of apps for Apple if the iPhone were as open as those other devices.

And yes I prefer quality as well, but there are some crap apps for the iPhone out there

WOW! Really?!

I use copy paste all day long! And i like to get pictures of my nephew thats all the way in New Jersey...

Yep, really.

Most people I know will email me a picture, or upload it to the Interweb.

Cut/Copy & Paste, I find that with my man hands, it can become a bit cumbersome which I got bored of and so don't use

Someone said "There is a tide in the affairs of men", Apple/ iphone may have dominion over all mankind at the moment but one day that will change- and in a completely unexpected way.

Not "will", *MAY*. There is no way ANYONE can say "Apple will be beaten", even if they are or will become second best. Neither you or anyone can tell the future. If they are, then so be it - great, but not just because William Shakespeare said so.

Brutus:

"There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures."
