With whom are you sharing the nerdy rumor forum posting experience?

Irrelevant question.

I've had many shared experiences with VR, both in person and online with friends who live in other states and countries. I probably spend a larger percentage of my time in shared experiences in VR than I do with any other screened device I use.

I’m sorry that some people don’t understand the difference between in person interaction and device mediated interaction. They’re not the same.

VR can be a better way to connect to people than something like FaceTime, because you can do a shared activity together in what feels like a shared space.
Cool speculation, but there’s no evidence suggesting this is better than FaceTime. You may not realize it but people do share screens when FaceTiming. Furthermore, it’s an open question whether people will want to put a computer on their FACES in order to make what amounts to a video call.

Physical screens will always have a major advantage over isolating VR/AR.

But they're not a replacement for it, because any interaction over a computer is far less rich, complex, and challenging than interacting in person. And thus important skills are thus lost
I agree, but I'm only pointing out what I see happening in my part of the world. For better or worse, parts of society in my area is heading towards fewer in-person social interactions. I don't see the Vision Pro changing this much (at first, at least, due to its unaffordability), although you can certainly argue that it will be a facilitator along with smartphones and tablets.

However, society changes with the times. I'm sure society as a whole will survive this, regardless of what we currently believe.

Now that the pandemic is over you’ll see that reverse.
