Yep, that was one of the major reasons to create the this forum in the first place. Folks in the IOS forum wanted to talk about that, but some folks were comparing android or saying android was better or even just had android questions.

The creation overall made everyone happy except for a minority people who got upset that MR was hosting non-apple content. Many of those people tended to complain that MR would run news stories about Samsung, Google, etc.

funny anecdote, when Macrumors created forums for the iPhone back in the day, that annoyed a segment of the population because this place is MacRumors and iphones were not Macs.

We've been here for quite sometime, wow, I see I registered in 2008 but I remember being just a reader with no account for a few years before that.

My first very own Apple product was an iPod, though I used Macs at work, etc. And yes, a lot of people didn't like Apple becoming something more than computers back in the day, they didn't like the whole iPod and iPhone thing, lol.

I'm confused - genuinely - why is this forum here? Can someone explain this to me?
The tools required to do my job involve using various platforms such as macOS, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.

As such I appreciate the good work MacRumors does in its wide coverage of the different platforms via articles and forums.

Thanks MacRumors!

Âren't there hundreds of other forums for non-iOS options?

We are here to read about Mac and iOS, not other platforms.
It's nice to have options
This site is also great if someone wants to switch from Android to Apple; at least on here you have human responses compared to AI responses.

Because it's a fantastic idea of a small, but possibly important place for people who are Apple-preference but have to use other types of devices sometimes, or may be looking into how to move from one to the other, or even help on using both.

If my preferred community is all the people here, and some of them want to discuss some of the alternatives since I actually use Windows 11, ChromeOS, Android, almost daily, on top of my macOS and iOS devices...then it may be a great place to foster discussion.

And sometimes, some of us just like toying with other things.

Jumping into XDA Forums or Reddit (yuck, bad for everyone) is not great to easily find out things immediately about devices your own favorite community can help or comment on that aren't the main topic of the rest of the site.

Also, I'm unsure about this forum but most message boards have a feature where you can go and select which forums appear when you visit the main page. You can probably uncheck this one if that's offered on this platform.

This thread was probably started to get us roused up & spew our comments while he watches the entertainment with his bowl of popcorn.

That's what I used to think things were like before 2010 if this situation was repeated.

Now I usually think it's someone who isn't very intelligent but is a dedicated brand lover on social media groups with the worst takes, or they're about 14 to 16 and only recently became a fanboy of whatever the topic here (Apple is the topic but pick anything any other site type)

I’m baffled by OPs post as apparently they’ve been a member on here since 2004, so why bring this up now, have they only just noticed this part of the forum after 22 years?

Using one Apple product - such as a Macbook - does not imply that we must use only Apple products. We should use the best or preferred product of each type, rather than limiting ourselves to a single brand.

One that is accepted, also realize that there are unique perspectives about certain products - such as an Android phone - when used in combination with a Mac laptop or iPad tablet.

And if none of that applies, it's always a good idea to be aware of what other brands and platforms are doing.

Well If you aren't a professional photographer or seasoned photographer then you probably haven't mastered the android or iPhone cameras or photography in general.
So very true, and often overlooked.
Just "trying samsung cameras" means you may not have used them correctly.
A fact that applies in so many cases.
Are you one to pick up the phone, open the camera, then take a photo without making any adjustments to the camera or checking the composition before taking the shot?
An accurate description of so many users.
Remember, the camera is a tool. It will not take professional photos by itself, the camera has to be in the hands of a pro or seasoned photographer to get great imagery no matter what brand it is.
To Apples credit, they’ve turned the focus on iPhone cameras each year, into a marketing tool for incredible profit.
A $5000 camera will not take better photos than a $500 camera. The photographer makes the images great, not the camera brand or price.
Another salient fact that is often ignored by the masses as they fall for the companies masterful control over the annual marketing narrative.

Creating FOMO around “a new and improved camera” every year has been a cornerstone of the strategy that’s built this juggernaut.

Kudos to you, the photos are amazing!

Screaming at his mom to make him some hot pockets from his room in her basement.

Believe it or not, a lot of people don't use the entire Apple ecosystem. A lot of people own Androids, but use Macs because Windows 11 is terrible.
