I think so too. So probably very unlikely anything new coming next week.

The iPad EEC fillings, the Bloomberg report, the iPad Air manual leaked, the Jon Prosser’s press release date (he has a good track record in press release dates). The release is imminent for next week, or any day of this month.

I’m hedging my bet and ordering my iPad on the last day of the education promotion. If there’s a new Air, I might get that instead of the 11” Pro. Only need the iPad in November so I can wait.
Similar boat, but i may not wait to the last minute. ?

Even if you order a Pro now, it’ll be 4 weeks before you get one.

It's going to be released very soon.

Let's see if Prosser or LovetoDream gets it correct particularly regarding the Apple Watch.

Personally, I wouldn't trust a site that doesn't know it's Apple Watch sizes.

The case sizes available with the Apple Watch Series 6 are rumored to include 40mm and 44mm. That would be a slight increase from the 38mm and 42mm sizes offered with the Apple Watch Series 5.

That's not the only site posting it. There are many more.

I'm betting on it either having an A13 chip or an A14 chip.

No chance for A14, as iPhone production will swallow up all such capacity. A12Z is more powerful for iPad-type functionality vs. A13, and they can't have a cheaper model (Air 4) look like it has a more powerful/newer chip (A13) than the regular Pro models, which will certainly hang around for awhile.

If they use the A12x/z then why would anyone buy the Pro models? If they retain the A12 then ipad air 3 owners wont upgrade as its the same chip. I understand your point on using the A13, but its performance sits in between the A12 and A12x/z so theoretically one would say is ideal for the Air 4?

The average consumer does not pay attention to the numbers.

You got it right all but two things. It'll be 10.8 inches but still fit the 11 inch accessories. The bezel will be a little bigger but still have same form factor as 11 inch. Also it'll probably be either the A12 or A13 processor. The X/Z series is for the Pro models. And they won't put a processor faster than the Pro models in it...

The Air 4 and Pro can use the same 12Z, because the Pro will have 4 speakers vs. 2, Promotion, more RAM, more storage options, LiDAR, dual cameras, etc.

What about all the rumors that are suggesting otherwise?
I consider they are just rumors. Sure I hope they would announce a new iPad Air 4 but I don't think they will this week. Probably much later, even next year, since if Air 4 is going to Pro chassis, it is such a big step.
Also I don't think it will get as powerful internals as Pro, probably even the same A12 as in Air 3, perhaps memory even the same or 4GB at the most. In case it comes out next year, I'd say it could be possible to get above A12 processor, otherwise no, because in peoples minds bigger number sounds like better, so they could think A13 or A14 is better than A12Z. I also saw yesterday that there are some cases already sold for Air 4 and in the photos it looks a lot like Pro 2018 and I guess they are just Pro 2018 cases.

Yes your right there, the 4 speakers, promotion etc could definitely be classed as Pro differentiators. I would love it if the Air 4 gets the A12Z, and would give me a reason to upgrade for sure. To be honest even if it keeps the A12, it would still be a very viable purchase for non air 3 owners, as its still a powerful processor. Basically any ipad with a Bionic 6 core processor is good for many years from now.

I think the biggest problem with Apples lineup is that features are being classified as “Pro Features” when they should have graduated to being “Standard” and its hurting the user experience. For example, why does a 2015 iPad Pro have quad speakers but the 2020 iPad doesn’t? Should the act of holding an iPad sideways really be considered a “Pro” action that requires a $400 Pro Upgrade?

Quad Speaker - 5 Years ago
Pro-Motion - 3 Years ago
Apple Pencil 2 - 2 Years ago
USB-C - 2 Years ago

Im not against them making a Pro/Standard distinction IF they are going to offer actual Pro features. But for a while its felt like the “Pro” iPad is an artificial luxury tier that exists because they are fighting progress by withholding features that should become standard.

Good point.
For me personally this holding back on dripping the tech to the lower tiers means having more products than needed instead of the good old approach of:
“This is the best product we could make”.

I disagree.

There are rumours and there are leaks. There's far too much evidence from photos of printed manuals, to registered products with the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECC). I take Prosser with a grain of salt, but two other analysts (not leakers) Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo, have said a new iPad this year.

It may not come next week, but it'll happen this year.

I guess I’ll hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I can’t imagine Apple is going to want to make their 6 month old pro obsolete already. I expect they’ll do just enough to make older air users to consider upgrading but still hold enough back, especially in speed, to clearly differentiate the pro.

It’d be nice to be wrong. I wouldn’t mind cancelling my pro order and saving some money.

They're rumors that are becoming increasingly likely and constantly being backed up by all sorts of leakers.

You better hope that the iPad Air 4 doesn't come out tomorrow. ?

You think they'll debut the new A14 chip in an iPad (and not even a Pro model) before the iPhone, or give the cheaper iPad Air a chip that puts it on par or even superior to the iPad Pro?
What else are they going to put in it?

Maybe the new Air will be a stripped down 2018 Pro with touch ID in the power button instead of Face ID? So an A12X, 4GB of ram, 2 speakers, Touch ID, USB-C, and Apple Pencil 2 support.

If it's a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the 2020 Pro, that might be enough of a distinction for consumers.
