Leaving the Plus and going to Pro was not advantageous for me.
I went from 14+ to 16 Pro.
- Battery life decreased and have to charge every night.
- Camera features were disturbingly difficult w/ camera action buttons so I rarely use the camera features. Never used the front camera for selfies, etc...
- Heavy - weight went up.
Much preferred the 14+ looking back.
That's why this time around I'll be getting the 17 Air.
Yet you've stated so much in this post as "fact".... when you don't know anymore than anyone else.
Why not wait until 19, 20, 21 etc...

With the upgrade program I end up paying a lot more. I get more money back from buying outright.
Why not wait until 19, 20, 21? Well that's because with the 18, your phone will surely be more useful... Now there is no real need to get the 17, and when you don't really need it well you don't buy it... Why no need = many upgrades on the 17 are kinda useless while on the 18 it's surely going to be useful + we could get a way better AI at end 2026 ! A real useful AI... meaning it can help so it's a need... Now probably 60% of people upgrading don't need a new iPhone.
If you really want to buy it, you can buy it like I said, I just give my opinion on how you could chose if you purchase or not an iPhone.
I have a launch day 15 Pro Max and will be upgrading to the 17 Pro Max. Realistically, my 15 Pro Max could last another year, but my mom wants a newer iPhone since my old 11 Pro Max that I had prior to getting the 15 Pro Max is showing it's age. So I am selling/ giving my 15 Pro Max to my mom and getting the 17 Pro Max.
This guy just doesn't get it and he will never get it. The concern tro__ing for what other people might want is so patronizing.

The 14 Plus is heavier than the 16 Pro. Perhaps it feels more top heavy because of the triple camera layout.
Me too. IMO my careful examination has shwn that year-over-year improvements have been substantive. Just the camera improvements alone have been significant.

My 15 pro max is having issues dropped calls, speaker issues and poor signal after taking a 5 min dip in my hot tub about 6 months ago so I’m upgrading. A 17 pro mac in 512gb for me
I believe that I will upgrade my iPhone 15 PM to the 17 PM copper if it really has the 12 GB RAM. I believe RAM will become important in the future.
Me? Because I can. Other people book holidays to the Bahamas and enjoy that for a week, I buy a new phone and enjoy it for a year 😎

How dare you? OP strongly advises against those practices, they do not make sense, you should keep your phone for at least 5 or 6 years, there are no or very minor updates in-between ...

I’ll most likely update as my 15 Pro has a slightly dodgy USB-C port which sometimes doesn’t charge properly.
I’m happy enough of the 17 is evolution rather revolution.
