hello everyone

why apple releases a macbook and a macbook pro but not imac and imac pro
An imac with an upgradable gpu's, like the new 8800 gt or gs or gts or what ever any one but an 8800, common we see it happen on macbook pro's but not the imac and the imac is alot bigger
It's unfair, i understand the heat problem and bla bla bla, but i think that apple are being happier this way for making money, by making you stuck with an imac and u can't change anything but the ram, it sucks
u cant even upgrade your hard drive, this totally unfair
this sucks lets be honest for a moment, u can't do anything unless if u throw away your old imac and buy a new one

i don't know about this but it's unethical for the customers

Any all in one device is extremely difficult to upgrade any component, many of which are designed in ways that they can take up less space, and by doing this, they are often unchangeable.

don't tell me the imacs are smaller than the macbook pro
i dont think this is a reasonable reason

I don't get this answer, iMacs are just as upgradable as the MBP and are actually more powerful than the MBP. The only advantage the MBP has over the iMac other than portability is that it has the option of a matte screen. I do think that the iMac should have this option even though I personally wouldn't choose it. But other than this I can't think how you think that the MBP is more customizable.

Apple is genius with their machines.

They have everything:

Mac Pro - power users, heavy gamers, video/sound/picture editors.

iMac - common user computer, used for internet, music, photos, videos and overall entertainment - NOT MEANT FOR THE THINGS YOU WANT IT TO BE.

Laptops - best in the world - compact, powerful and reliable.

overall, there's nothing that the iMac can't do for me right now and Apple has done a very, very good job trying to pay attention to their consumers and to feedback.. we are lucky.

Well Apple had the education iMac, that dropped the GPU and went down to a plain CD/DVD reader.

Which made all the rest of the iMacs equal to mid-level and Pro machines.

But Apple ganked the education iMac with the aluminum machine introduction.

Guess they didn't want the expense of producing a small volume 17" aluminum machine, and keeping the old 17" plastic case would be similarly expensive.

I'm confused how exactly you want to upgrade the iMac? It's an all in one machine, it doesn't have expandable pci-e slots to pop in new graphics cards. So do you want apple to develop a new market for a new type of gpu upgrade kit? You can upgrade the memory. You can upgrade the HD (albeit with some effort and voiding your warranty), but why bother? External HD are so cheap these days, and they are pretty fast.

And the differences between the macbook and macbook pro don't really apply to the desktop. The MBP is a desktop replacement.... which the iMac already is. The Pro offers speed and screen improvements. The iMac currently offers a 3.06GHz processor and 24" screen. I could see maybe arguing for a lower end Mac desktop (the mini is a joke as-is), but not a higher end one.

It sounds like you want the mythical Mid-Tower Mac. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE for there to be a product like that. But honestly, does anyone see Apple ever going down that road? I certainly don't.

simple....there's no iMac pro because apple wants people like you to pay them more $$$ so you'll by a Mac Pro....also all in ones are almost never upgradable so frgt about it....the only new desktop we might be seeing is a mid priced Mac tower

I want a 27'' or 30'' iMac, but other than that, it can be just like the existing one, no need for "pro."

totally agree.

would not mind the bigger screen, though, my 24'' is already biggggg enough for the time being.

iMac is perfect for the target audience it is intended to serve.. one might argue that it is overstuffed in the top-of-the-line model.'

you want more? you want quad or 8 core?

MAC PRO

I was surprised to find out that the 17" white iMac is still available, but I think it's only for bulk school district purchases.

well i know that the imac 3.06 is powerful enough, but think about the the next 2-3 years, your gonna find it not that powerful

i've got a new concept for apple and this is gonna solve most of the problems:- at least save some few money for the car

i worked for an hour to make this picture

this way you need to attach part #1 to #2 and #2 to #3
and Part #2 can be replaceable, this way you can save the (screen, keyboard, holder, Ram, Hard drive) imagine how much money you can save!!!!

Well, if you ask me, an iMac with a 3.06Ghz CPU and Nvidia 8800GS card is pretty Pro to me. And, I see no reason why they would have a higher end iMac, when they already have what they have. They need to work more on the low end, because the Mini is a really sorry excuse for a "low-end" computer. $600 and not even a Superdrive? Puh-lease. I don't see why they should expand the iMac line, unless they expand it to have an education type one, like they had with the 17" model.

well i totally agree with you about the imacs are high end pro enough, and apple should give us the new mac mini sooner, but even for the mac mini i guess and for the imac cant change the gpu, spouse there is a new nvidia better than the 8800 in the next year.. actually there is (GeForce 9800) and it's the best i think, you can play crysis in full ultra quality with 1900x1200 resolution, and the new ati 3870, they are really great and powerful.

so what it's gonna be, stuck for ever or try to tell apple that they are not giving the imac and mac mini a chance to make it perfect, i mean they made the thinnest laptop in the world (Macbook air), they made the best os in the world (Leopard), they made the best mobile phone in the world (iPhone), they have the most powerful computer in the world (Mac Pro), they have most powerful laptop (Macbook Pro), they are the best online music store and i think the video store (iTunes)

AND THEY CANT MAKE THE IMACS GPUS UPGRADABLE!!!!
THIS SUCKS!!!!
