I heard about the s4. Things gonna be boss can't lie. Scroll with eyes? That's insane.

Another gimmick that won't work as "demonstrated" ...again...

It's no wonder why so many people who switch from iPhone to Android end up going back to the iPhone. Too much hype over useless features, and a severe lack of updates and support.

Gimmicks features, i had s3 and note2 and for example smart stay wasnt working in low light area whereas advertisements has shown that it works at night.... Smart rotate, multiview, airview features i have used for first days, later i didnt use it because no point of features like those. Samsung gives a lot of software features but most of them are useless, only showing in front of your friends how cool you are.... Also samsung software support is gayish, updates by regions... How long you need to wait for exynos bug fix whereas still a lot of regions didnt got that fix....

I can definately see the S4 being the best phone this year, know that.

Will Apple have something to counter it? No, I don't think so. They need to fix Siri and Maps first.

apple event to counter samsung

Apple has nothing new to contribute since the iPhone 3. They are so far behind the technology that they should just use tin cans and a string to communicate.

Samsung and 'severe lack of updates and support' should not be used in the same sentence. Every since the Galaxy S2 i've never known a company update their phones so much. Samsung (relatively) quietly introduced multi-window and all those extra features to the S3 without any song and dance.

I can't imagine apple doing that. We'd get all the dross about how the world's "most advanced mobile operating system has done it again" blah blah blah

Please tell me how the S4 will be something "revolutionary"? All smartphones coming out now are more evolutionary then revolutionary...the S4 wont have eye scrolling tech, its just going to be a upgraded S3. The 5S is obviously going to be a upgraded iPhone 5.

Alot of Samsungs "smart features" dont even work, or only work half the time..but im not doubting the S4 will be a fantastic device though

But what im trying to say is that it wont be anything revolutionary

A good majority of Samsung products have JUST gotten Jelly Bean...Android manufacturers are extremely slow in updating their phones...at least with iOS, when a new update comes out everyone can get it the same day

no OS X 10.8.3 release?

:p

It will happen but it's a bug fix release, not a "Galaxy S4 killer."

Apple will operate on its own schedule. There's no sense trying to upstage tonight. The blowback from the WSJ article was probably enough negative publicity for Apple right now. Any "counter" move would be seen as desperation. Remember, the iPhone 4S outsold the Galaxy S3 last quarter, so Apple doesn't need the latest and greatest all the time to sustain sales volume.

I do wonder if the management shakeup in October has delayed OS X 10.9 and iOS 7 at all. By this time last year the Mountain Lion beta was already in high gear. I think a lot is riding on iOS 7 and this year's WWDC. It's doubtful we'll see a 5" iPhone ever (and certainly not this year), so it will be up to the software and internals to sell the 5S.

It remains to be seen whether Samsung's Eye Scroll is genuinely useful or mostly gimmicky like NFC (i.e. makes for good commercials and demos but not quite a game changer). If it's the former, I wonder what Apple has planned for iOS 7.

Nada, however they need to be Johnny on the spot with the iPhone 5S if they want to save some sales from going to other phone mfg's. I think if they wait until August-October for the 5S which is not a huge bump over the 5, they might see sales slip especially with a decent amount of new phones coming out during this time between April-August.

Samsung already said it's a plastic case because easier to manufacture, so no surprise, and no worries for u iPhone fans.

It was more of a joke.

New Samsung with the same darn screen that is too wide, with a plastic body that I don't like ? This isn't news. Same Old Samsung. You likie, you can leave now, and enjoy it. I'll wait for the 5S :D

Yeah I dunno about this iWatch thing, I mean even if they can stick a 12-cores processor in there, the display surface is gonna limit how useful, how often one uses the dang thing, until of course it can project a holographic 3D image a-la Star War.

What current phones released, or being released are "New and Exciting"?

The new HTC has an aluminum body and new version of Sense. The battery is still pretty bad. Doesn't sound new and exciting to me?

The S4 has a minor bump in specs [something people slam Apple for on every release], and Eye Scrolling [Gimmick, like Siri...right?]. Again, doesn't sound too new and exciting at all.

I guess those words mean different things, to different people...

This is my experience with Samsung products. A few years ago I was a fan but then I got screwed on updates, specifically to my Samsung Blu ray player where Samsung put out an update that knocked the audio out of sync and then did nothing to fix it for months despite complaints. I took the player back, it was replaced with one with an older firmware, I tried to play a disc, it insisted on updating and pulled in the same faulty update and knocked the sound out of sync. I gave them 6 months to fix it and it never worked right and they had already released a new model so they simply didn't care about my older machine. When you buy a box and it works from day one and does what you need, that is fine, but when the box has to be updated just to perform its intended function because, well, blu ray needs updates to play newer discs, and you don't support it well you're off my preferred manufacturer list. To Samsung, updating means you buy a new device and throw the old one away. When the S4 is out, the S3 will be on the **** list and won't get anything more shortly afterwards.
