AHh that hurt! :) I love these videos also. And all this makes me want to buy a blendtech to make some awesome smoothies :)

Same here! I think I'll head to the 'fridge...

What's the black stuff that bubbled up near the end?

And my god, what an explosion of hardware just before the 'magic smoke' was released :)

LOL @ "iSmoke." Did you hear him say that?:D

I was thinking the same thing - it took quite a few hits from that thing and then the black part came off and it took quite a few more. I mean look how long the screen stayed lit...

Speaking of wasting money. Hmm, spend time watching the video, buying a computer on which to comment on MR, spending time looking up the UNICF cost of immunization = a lot more than $500.

I'm just saying...

waste by the dictionary widget says "use or expand CARELESSLY, or to NO PURPOSE" Seeing him fork over 500 bucks to blend an iphone just shows us that he really doesn't need our money. I'm just saying...;)

ps.
i cant wait to see when they roll out the ultra-thin macbooks...maybe we can see what that looks like blended!!:p

Nope sorry. His remark did make sense, yours doesn't.

I'm going to have nightmares tonight about that kid in elementary school who used to bully me... I just know he's going to steal my iPhone while I'm showing it off to my nerd friends. Then, he will hold me back by my ear as he blends it at an impossible 2" from my reach.

I was just about to post this link, but I searched first. So all of those MR'ers out there who assume people don't search first, cut 'em some slack. Sometimes you stumble across something that's just too out there; other times you try your best and miss it.

In this case, I can only chime in with a me-too. But how cool is this?

:D

ARRGGG. that poor iPhone

iThink that's iAbuse™ :(
save 29 kids...or blend an iphone.

oh. so you've never wasted any money... EVER?

Or perhaps learn about the company before condemning them? The last time they did this, with an iPod, the result was auctioned on eBay and the money donated to a children's hospital. eBay was again mentioned at the end of this video, so it appears that they are planning to repeat that.

I would assume then that you think all advertising is a waste of money. Because that's exactly what this is. Absolutely, everyone stop all advertising and donate to charity! Oh wait, if you don't advertise you won't make much money and then you won't have anything to donate. Hmm, decisions, decisions

I'm glad a couple of people realize that spending $500 to destroy the iphone was well worth it-either for the company OR for a charity if they donate the proceeds (probably both). The amount of profits this company will recieve as a result of this video (both from selling blenders AND from advertising dollars recieved from companies buying space on their website) FAR exceeds the $500 cost of the iphone.

Take an economics or business course before accusing a company of wasting money on something like this. This is probably the largest return on investment this company ever made.

Just like so many of you out there, It hurts me to see an iphone destroyed. However, the only smarter thing this company could have done to increase profits would be to blend two iphones. There would be even more outrage, curiosity, excitment, and hype over that video. This would lead to a larger amount of people watching the video and more blenders sold, more advertising dollars, ect...
Note: For those of you who know some economic theory, there would obviously be some diminishing marginal benefits of adding another iphone..... :D

Yes, I still feel guilty about doing that to you, jwa276. But it was good training for being a forum administrator, where it's my job to pick on innocent and defenseless forum members for no good reason. But I like iPhones so I promise not to harm yours. ;)

From the price of that iPhone the buyer could have financed the shelter, food, medical care, and education of a child in the developing world for 20 months. I personally wouldn't buy from a company that brags with doing that.
