I hope everyone spams the AT&T network with iPhone MMS messages.

That would be hilarious if everyone sent MMS messages to everyone they know on the 25th.

Perhaps we can just communicate in JUST MMS messages. No more text messages... attach a photo to EVERYTHING!

Question: How come no other country has MMS problems with their carrier? All other carriers were ready and had no problem enabling MMS. Hmm.

For someone who is relatively smart - sometimes you post things that show your true age and mental maturity. And yes, while that may be insulting is really just an observation I wanted to pass on to you. You're capable of better.

ETA: Encouraging people to do everything they can to cripple the network intentionally defeats the purpose of gaining the functionality people desire.

However, it would be very funny wouldn't it? It'd be like sticking it to AT&T because users are so angry over not having MMS for so long.

I, personally, wouldn't care what people do. I don't feel the need to ever send MMS anyways.

What's my true age by the way?

No. I don't think it would be funny or amusing. I do think it would cause a lot of frustration and annoyance to many though. Why instigate? The people who will care more and who you will be "sticking" it to will be the users - not AT&T.

If I had to guess your true age - I would say low low 20s.

I'm 26. It would be "sticking" it to AT&T because angry users will spread angry feelings towards AT&T and ultimately AT&T will get a worse reputation.

You're reading too much into my post. I just think it would be ironic if the same people who whined about not having MMS, actually broke AT&T's network by abusing it. That's all.

AT&T said that they've been upgrading their infrastructure to handle the data-demanding iPhone for the MMS launch. So will they be truly ready? We'll see.

I personally... don't care what happens.

In the meantime - look up the word ironic - as you (and many do) use it completely incorrectly. :)

Not for nothing... but when the 25th hits people will be using MMS like crazy since its been requested for so long. So if its not deliberate or inadvertent there will be a whole lotta' MMS'in going on testing out this new but not new feature.

To be fair, MMS usage in Europe had been widespread for years before the iPhone came on the scene. Apple eventually enabling MMS on the iPhone made no difference over here.
MMS use had been widespread in the USA for several years before the iPhone as well.

Do a search in the archives and you'll see many Americans expressing disappointment at the lack of MMS all the way back to the original iPhone, and complaining that their x-year old phone has been sending MMSes for sooooo many years. And you'll see other people saying "just e-mail," as if that solves the problem.

In other words, same debate, different year. ;)

Makes you wonder why AT&T have made such a drama about it?

MMS is pure data, there is no network to cripple. It uses as much data as you opening a page in Safari.

Their MMS Center could overload if too many people send an MMS at the same time, though. :D

It's bad enough as it is, and AT&T knew what they were doing when they delayed it to this point. They wouldn't have been able to keep up with it when the 3GS first came out.

However even still, it's bad now, especially in major cities, and I can't imagine all the pictures and videos that will start being sent in a couple days helping matters.

has it crippled other service providers in other countries?

I would like to know how sending an an email with a picture or an MMS is different newtork wise.

ATT is full of sheet. If they are so freaking worried about bandwidth then why do they continue to push the iphone subscriptions? if capacity is the issue why release something like microcell and push the marketing to watch videos and download?
Once 7.2 hits ATT will be trying to steal internet customers from the cable companies but still whining about bandwidth usage.

Hilarious. Do you really have nothing better to do than try to "cripple" a cell phone network?

I have tons of better things to do than cripple a network. I will not be sending any MMS message when it comes out because I'm on 2.2.1, but I would still like to see other people try to crash the network. It would make me laugh.

Internet and SMS/MMS use different gateways/routers/systems.

That's why I still don't understand how the original iPhone doesn't have the hardware to send MMS messages. The original iPhone is more than capable of sending MMS if the iPhone 3G can. You don't need 3G data to send MMS.

I can't believe Apple would disable it for original iPhone owners.

welllllllllllllll if you must know..... they didn't! it's just you! they disabled YOUR mms!

I'll never have MMS as long as I'm on 2.2.1, so it doesn't matter if they disabled it for me or not. I don't even use my original iPhone anyway.

Yes, I know you were joking.

Probably early on if ever. People REALLY don't send MMS like that all day. There are times that I wanted MMS, but there is no one on my contact list that wants me to send them pictures and videos all of the time.

My mom wants pictures of her grandson when we are out. That is about it.

Who cares about other countries. Other countries mean other networks. That's a moot point. They continue to push iphone subscriptions because people will buy. I mean damn, people will always push a shoddy product if they think it will sell.
