Don't get me wrong: the iPhone X is the best iPhone, but it may be among the worst for video consumption. And the black background is the only thing making the iPhone X look good in the last picture.

My concern is I'm not sure how Apple is going to design its way out of this unless it can get the tech beneath the screen.
It gets even stranger. Here is a screenshot MKBHD took with the X, look at all the awkward empty spacing.

Steve Jobs would be losing his mind if he ever saw this.

Here are your options with the iPhone X video viewing, there just doesn't seem to be a nice way of getting a proper undisturbed video, either it has the notch or endless black bars. You also don't even get Browser tabs in landscape like you do in the iPhone 8 Plus.

This iPhone X is shaping up to be more of a iPhone 8-Sort-Of-Plus-But-Not-Really

Nothing says happy about your Note 8 purchase like posting 3 times in a row about the same thing hating on the iPhone X.

Yep, the notch is there when zoomed in and that isn't ideal. I always watch videos zoomed out anyway. I prefer smaller video with no clipping. In your Note 8, it's better than the X, but you're still losing footage. I prefer the true source at all times, which is why I also hate full screen movies being cropped to fit widescreen.

Steve Jobs would be losing his mind if he ever saw this.

Steve Jobs also allowed antenna gate to happen. He's not flawless and people pulling him out of the grave to justify what would/would not be allowed to happen is getting old. You're not Steve Jobs and you weren't his personal friend.

To be quite honest I have been incredibly curious to see how Apple have addressed the notch, that's why I have been posting. I actually thought they'd find some ingenious way of dealing with it, but from all these Unboxings and First Looks I have watched I am seeing that they have put themselves in quite a corner.

Was hoping to get an order in for one of these for my mother as her iPhone 6S is getting long in the tooth, but I think I'll try convince her to settle for iPhone 8 Plus, seems it's still the better iPhone for Multimedia Consumption.

The OnePlus 5 is killing the iPhone X on battery tests. I'm expecting the 5T to be better. There's another way the OnePlus is superior to iPhone. Maybe I should take this device more seriously.

To answer the thread, the OP5T I think is to try to regain some good grace after the security fiasco as well. So no it's not a Iphone X rival, it's more a rival to other Android handsets. People that buy iphones are going to still buy iphones, and typically android users will buy android users, but within that realm there are many different phones to choose from.
