Peek Performance to me doesn’t really make sense if their flagship Mac at the event is a Mac mini. But who knows, maybe they’ll pump up the performance even more than the 16” Pro.

Yes, their wordplay will have all the excitement of a party horn being blown during the next day's hangover, if it is just for the Mac mini using the M1s we're already acquainted with. I am hopeful we'll get a preview of the iMac Pro and/or the Mac Pros, the A/S inside, and when we can expect them.

The Spanish announcement version translates to “An Unprecedented Performance” instead of Peek. To me this screams iMac or iMac Pro = something beyond the performance we’ve already seen on the 16”

Edit: Portuguese version

I find that the more hype Apple puts into their invitations, the more mundane the product announcements tend to be. While I want an iMac Pro, I'm not holding my breath for Tuesday.

So now DuanRui is implying that the iMac Pro might indeed be announced next Tuesday...

For background, DuanRui takes Chinese social media Apple leaks and translates them into English. He was specifically targeted by Apple for said leaking so he appears to have access to good sources.

If we are getting the M2 MacBook Pro 13.3" and M2 Mac mini on Tuesday, if it is true an iMac will also be announced, maybe this is the M2 iMac (24") and not the iMac Pro (27")?

Good point, it could be a soft refresh for the 24" with an M2, which would also possibly point towards a more consistent updating schedule from apple moving forward. I dont wanna get my hopes up for the 27 yet. I very much want one asap and dont see it happening until summer.

Well now that we're close to the event the rumors are coming hot and heavy, so who knows. We now have rumors of a future 7K Pro Display XDR and a "Mac Studio Cube" with M1 Max and M1 Max Duo designed to slot between the Mac mini Pro and the Mac Pro.

This brings a smile to my face. It almost feels like we've returned to the early 2000's when the Mac was the biggest part of Apple's revenue.

I’m a big fan of this new Mac studio speculation. Wonder where it would sit in the product line. It’s funny, I really do want the iMac, but simply for the larger screen when at home. In the past, any external display option I did was 1 inconvenient and 2 used too much of the processing power of whatever laptop I was using. If apple can deliver an external display for under 1500 that solves those problems I’d consider just using my laptop.

Is there any reason to think Apple won’t bump up the size of the bigger iMac to 30”? Only saying this because it wouldn’t make much sense to have the biggest iMac only be 3” bigger.

Most of us are hoping for 30" or more, but the leaks from those who claim to know all seem to be saying 27". An increase would make sense to separate it further from the 24", but it is looking unlikely.

This new iMac 27. If it comes out March or maybe June, will it still use the same type of RAM in the current model?

It won't be the same RAM as the current 27" iMac. It will almost certainly have the same M1 Max and M1 Pro chips (possibly with a higher new version as well) as the latest MacBook Pros, and the same RAM they have, which is not user upgradable.

Ah ok, thanks.

I thought it was only the 24 that we couldn't upgrade.

Seems like the Mac Mini Pro will actually be the 'Mac Studio'. Interesting.

I'm still super skeptical of an iMac Pro coming on Tuesday. Ross Young should not be doubted until he gets something wrong. I still say it's coming at WWDC. Hope I'm wrong.

Seems like that new rumored 7K display is happening too on Tuesday. Hopefully that means other displays too. Or maybe Apple unveils the 27" mini-LED display alongside the iMac Pro at WWDC.

The RAM is integrated into the Apple silicon platform in a different way to Intel, and looks as if the design path does not allow for upgradable RAM at any level. But we have not seen all the possibilities yet for all the machines. Some hold out a hope there will be upgradeable RAM for the Mac Pro, but it does look doubtful.

Unfortunately I think a new pro level Mac mini would be unveiled alongside a pro-level display (i.e. 7K and expensive AF!).

I don’t think my hopes for a low cost 5K 27” will ever see the light.

Dylandkt said we are getting a 27" display that will be the same as the future iMac Pro display. We are also rumored to be a getting a display based off the 24" iMac, so that would be your best-bet for 'low cost'.

He did. And I want my new 27 incher now ?

Also it is really annoying that now we cannot up the RAM ourselves and have to pay £200 or so for an extra 8GB. So that saving is blocked. Out of interest, with the new silicon chios is it just as important to add RAM as with the previous models do the experts on here think? Also the HD 512 Gb I would say is too small. So that will cost another £400 to take it up to a minimum of 1 TB.

Wouldn’t you have to give up the performance benefits of unified memory to have upgradeable memory?

Not an expert so I don't know really.

So is say 8 RAM upgraded to 16 RAM on previous model less powerful than 8 RAM of unified memory as they call it?
