Despite what some are saying about the iPhone plus impacting iPad mini sales, I don't really buy that. The mini is such a better web surfing/movie watching/video editing/sketching iPad experience than the iPhone plus.

Yeah I hate it when people say we should just buy the iPhone+ instead of a Mini. The iPhone+ is smaller, doesn't run tablet apps, doesn't have tablet screen functions like PiP, and is frickin' twice the price! It is not a suitable iPad Mini replacement in any way.

No it won't. If they came out with a new Ipad with the same specs but only the A10 it won't cannibalize a whole lot IMHO. The A10 is only a slight upgrade from the A9x or whatever is inside it now

Like I said, it will increase the risk of cannibalization.

They obviously have a few million screens laying around. Before the 2017 iPad came out the lineup was Mini 4, Air 2, and the pro 12 and 9.7. Thus new Ipad is similar to the Air 1 with the non laminated screen but with Air 2 specs

Except the iPad (2017) display has been measured to be at least 25% brighter than the iPad Air 2 and the original iPad Air. So your theory about "screens laying around" is bunk.

lol... the iPad mini debate spilled over here as well? There's no point speculating about it. Just assume the iPad mini 4 is here to stay until we hear something from Ming-Chi Kuo(tm).

Presently I'm just happy with the current new stuff - iOS 11 and 10.5" iPad etc.

Guys, I do feel stupid for thinking so. But some of your replies have explained it perfectly. I know they wont do one sooner now, and that the iPad 3 was a special case.

Right now, I'm debating.. do I keep this perfectly fast iPad Air 2 4G or buy the budget iPad..... whenever this does need replaced I'd imagine it will be the new budget iPad be it this model or the next!
The iPad Air 2 has a nicer screen and is still quite fast. I'd hang on to it.

One thing that I like to do when I start feeling like my iPad is feeling "stale" is to buy new accessories or apps to keep the experience fresh.

I do the same thing! Just ordered a new silicon back cover for my 9.7 Pro to replace my gray one that is all dinged up. Helps me forget about the fact that I can't afford another new iPad this year.
