Sure it masculine - look at all the militaries that have red in their dress uniforms. Visit Canada and tell the Mounties they uniforms not masculine. British Army too! Not own that; if I was a tough guy; I get the RED iPhone and just wait for someone like you to come up to me and question my masculinity!:D Tough guy is defined as a street fighter, professional fighter, mob enforcer, NFL defensive lineman or one of the elite soldiers in world.
Excuse me, it wasn't me questioning if red is masculine but the poster I quoted. I like red myself and as a Canadian know about the Mounties especially when they do their displays on horseback!

What is “Project Red”? I think you mean “Product Red”, trying to clear the confusion for others that read your post.

Its Just a smart phone. I think general excitement eventually Wanes anyway, I see it as a tool that I use every day that’s not something I need to be entertained by, but that’s just my opinion.
Yes, I meant Product Red and not Project.

I won't, but now that my wife has seen billboard for them, I have a feeling she'll come home with one one of these days. (She works at a mobile carrier, although a small one. They always get new products a few weeks after the big boys. Sadly, though, she doesn't get an employee discount on hardware, just plans.)

I went and did it. I got my red 8 Plus. On Earth Day no less. :D I already had a Product Red case I’d purchased for an iPhone 7 Plus I no longer own. So it’s currently in that. I just got finished setting it up and covering it in tempered glass display protector and clear film back glass protector last night.

I already had a silver 8 Plus. I just got the Product Red 8 Plus with exactly the same specs. My silver is an AT&T model so I almost went with an unlocked version this time but chickened out because the call quality on the unlocked silver 8 Plus I had and returned had been pretty bad, but on my AT&T model the call quality is decent.

Interestingly enough, there are slight differences in the display between the two Pluses. My Silver has a cooler display that’s slightly brighter on the same brightness settings. Fortunately, both are equally appealing to me.

The Product Red’s camera seems, so far, in very unscientific preliminary testing, to blow out highlights slightly less than the one on the silver iPhone. But I’d need to use a tripod and be extremely precise in my testing to be sure. Again, if there is in fact a difference, it is very slight. It’s just fun to compare the two.

As to why I would have two of the same model, well to me this is the model I want to stay with until they each can’t work well anymore. I don’t plan to upgrade my iPhones until I absolutely have to let these go. After trying the X, I realized I’m just not eager to move on from the basic form factor and interface design that remains, in essence, as Steve Jobs last presented it to us. So, given that these will be staying with me for years this time, I had no qualms having two of them to switch between.

I had never had a silver and white iPhone. I always wanted one since the day I got my 5s, but often they just weren’t available or there was some other reason I went with another color. Finally when I got to pick my 8 Plus, I resolved to get the color that was so iconic of Apple. And I love it. There is no way I was trading it away. Fortunately, trading in my out of warranty, increasingly oddly behaving 7 Plus made it quite a bargain.

But when I saw Apple released a red iPhone with black bezels, my head exploded in a poof of feathers. I have a red HTC 10 (with black bezels) that is stunning and I long wished for an iPhone that looks like it. And now I have one. My precioussssss!

The red looks beautiful

Can anybody recommend a good wallpaper app for the iPhone 8 plus?
I have “Wallpapers for Me” and “Pimp Your Screen” currently installed. But I haven’t used them in several months, opting instead to just use photos I like. From what I remember, they both have ads in them but nothing too intrusive. On Wallpapers for Me they want your location but you can turn off that permission in settings.

Come on. You know Apple's gonna suck you in on something new this fall. :D
Lol, I know it seems that way. Anyone who has sort of become familiar with me since I joined this forum back when I got the 6 Plus has only seen me upgrade annually as well as try out a bunch of Android phones.

So I know I give the impression of being a bit flighty with these things. But I loved and held onto the iPhone 4 for two years and let myself be talked into upgrading into a 5s. I deeply regretted that decision. If I had to do it all over again I would have stayed with that iPhone 4 for at least 4 years, total, rather than the 2 years I did.

And I was super fortunate that the first car I bought with my own paychecks out of college was a great car. I drove it exclusively for almost 25 years and STILL drive it, though I had to switch to a truck to handle the messy rural roads I now have to drive on.

And FWIW, I’ve been with the same man for 30 years. :D

So, when I find a choice that resonates with me, I can stick to it.

I actually wanted to stick with my iPhone 7 Plus. But it was acting up and overheating a lot. So I decided while it still had some trade in value, I might as well get the 8 Plus rather than mess around trying to troubleshoot the 7 Plus. I did want the option of wireless charging and the 8 Plus also was the final refinement of the Plus design I’d come to enjoy.

At the urging of my husband, I did try the iPhone X. It was really nice but it wasn’t what I really wanted. I’m so much happier with the 8 Plus. I’ve also got a Samsung S9+ with a far superior camera. And I’m happy with that, too, so I’m actually paused on the upgrade path on all fronts.

There’s some things going on in both the Android and iOS worlds that I’m just honestly not too keen on. I kind of want to just give it all a rest, sit back, enjoy what I have and see how it all shakes out.

I finally saw one of these in person on saturday and I have to say that finish is incredible - it photographs poorly - photographs don't do it justice. It's so lustrous and nice. I wish the X had that red backing.

Sadly none of them in stock were 256 so I went for the X grey.

I wanted the red
They had none in 256 so I went for the space grey. I needed a new phone ASAP

Loving this combo! I’m tempted on this with my red 7!

I’ve not had my 7 long but if I were upgrading from another phone and looking at the 8 I’d strongly consider a red 8 plus!

Everyone who says there is no point in buying a Product Red phone because the it goes in a case is forgetting that Apple donates money from Product Red sales. It’s not just to show off your red phone.

I got the Red 8 Plus and Love it. I had the X and sold it. The red color is nice and beautiful. The “Home Button” oh do I like it a lot more than the X Face Unlock.

I have a Samsung S7 now, and it has issues. I'm very tempted by the iPhone 8+ Product RED, it looks FANTASTIC, but I just can't get myself to buy a phone that's 2 years behind the times in terms of radio technology. The X16 modem is handicapped by not having 4x4 MIMO, and none of the iPhones support B14.

I'm not so concerned about the network side of things for this year or next, but for a device that should last 4-5 years with a couple of battery replacements at the Apple Store, already being that far behind on the technology is a very bitter pill to swallow.
