Samsung already does. Both the cellular versions of the Galaxy Tab 7 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 can do telephony.
idiots

Ever iPhone has been the same concept since day 1. People seem to forget that. Even iPads are the same. Just look at them.
When did Apple ever innovate?
Not hard when you're marketing to the lowest common denominator-- for example technologically illiterate soccer moms and grandmas.
I have no doubt they'll continue making profits, I just don't think I'll continue buying their products.
I bought an iPhone 5 but I'm not against jumping ship if Apple doesn't step it up. iOS 6 was basically iOS 5 with a couple new apps.
Plus, all of these quad-core, 1080p 5"+ Android phones are very tempting. If the rumors of a 6" Note 3 with 500+ dpi and 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity are true, I might have to go that route as it'd be the perfect sketchbook.

I might skip the next gen since the 5 is doing just fine
Who am I kidding, I'll have the next one regardless
Two reasons
-Ecosystem
-Apple Retail..I can literally walk to the store and get a replacement if needed
Can't say that about my LG Google Nexus 4 I had
In about 2-3 months all the competitors will be ahead of iPhone and we'll still be waiting for the once a year minimal upgrade.

... if you have an Apple store nearby that is. Here in Sweden there are two Apple stores, total. One almost as far south as you can get in Malmö and one just outside Stockholm. If you can't ge to those, you have to contact the store you bought it in, just as with any other phone, send it in, let them look at it and suggest a repair or replacement. No difference between iDevices or other brands.
I guess this is the case in more countries also, but I agree it sounds very smooth in the US where it sounds there are Apple stores all over the country and you can just walk in and walk out with a replacement.
If ios7 is just a small upgrade like ios6 was and iOS remains boring I will be switching to BB10 only.

Im sure it would be you spec lover (don't take offence). You realise that 500 ppi has no visible difference to 300 ppi even if you had 20/20 vision... sigh -_- And quad core devices that chew up more battery than dual core devices and are slower IRL! Where is the logic, please tell me. (I am actually curious to know)
You Hit on I'm sure a major issue -I think I'm right in saying that the success of Macs
is largely as a result of the success of the iPhone and iPad.
If sales of the iPhone start to falter,
I wonder if it will impact on Apple's other revenue streams?
