I'm not gonna lie, I love my iPhone but it is kinda getting stale. With that said i couldnt switch to android because after 4+ years on the same os it will also get stale, my android phone would be "old" and "outdated" within weeks, and after playing with a few android phones it is quite clear that it isnt as smooth and the app store is lacking. Just remember, the iphones os is made for the hardware and vice versa. However there isnt a phone produced directly by google, I know about nexus but samsung makes those.

Little bit of misinformation here, Samsung does not make nexus exclusively, they have made one nexus branded phone but the nexus 4 is made by lg.

So people switching to Android because iOS is stale: What drastic changes have happened in Android lately? Yes, Android does some cool stuff. iOS does too. Windows Phone does too. But what HUGE changes have been made to any of these? Seriously--what is so mind blowing about Android that you think you won't eventually get sick of that too? If you're really hellbent on having widgets, fine. Go to Android. Want more customization on your home screen? Go to Android. I can't argue with you.

But what a lot of you gadget geeks don't understand is that we are a vocal minority of phone users. Most people don't like constantly thinking about their gadgets--they like to USE them and then be done with them. The soccer mom down the street or Joe Schmoe on the train aren't constantly thinking "Gee, I wish I could sideload apps on this phone."

I am utterly disgusted with Wall Street and the tech media. They have planted this idea in peoples' heads that if a company doesn't come out with something new and world changing every 6 months, then they are "doomed" or "boring". Apple never operated like this, yet they're being held to a standard that no company can fulfill. In 30 years, Apple has made four world changing products. The Mac, the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad. (I would even go as far as to lump the iPhone and iPad into one--so let's just say three world changing products.)

30 YEARS, people. The media is on their case because it's been 3 years since their last big product launch. Tech pundits are dubbing them "boring". Wall Street is basically burying them. Yet, none of them can name one time in Apple's history where they were coming out with a new innovation every year or even every two years, BECAUSE THAT WAS NEVER HOW THEY OPERATED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Honestly, the BS reporting and stock manipulation that has been going on with Apple has been absolutely criminal. We reward Samsung and Google for being unoriginal copycats by declaring Apple dead. That's great. I guess we'll find out what's really going on Wednesday night at earnings time. But I have a feeling that this time around, no matter what kind of numbers they report, it won't be good enough for anyone.

I see we have a bitter Apple stock holder who bought at $700....... Just because you don't see what many others see as better products on the market, it doesn't make it stock manipulation nor does it make it criminal. The stock market has spoken these past months with the huge drop in Apple's share price.

Without digging to deep into this topic.......I think people who say ios is stale are partly right.

Side by side comparison between the iPhone 2G and iPhone 5 with the same black background......looks the same after 6 years.

Side by side comparison Between G1 vs Nexus 4....you will SEE the difference.

Under the hood changes are nice yes.....but at some point, tweak the look of the OS a little. You can't keep changing under the hood and expect to remain on top (ask rim). Rim finally realizes that a new os is needed but not sure if it's to late or not (we will see Jan 30th)

Blackberry 10 software and hardware look promising. Android improves on every update. Windows is ok.

With all that said.....I like 2 mobile OS's. That is iOS and blackberry OS. I tried android and while it's nice....it's not for me. I tried windows with the same result.

So yes, if iOS 7 is another IOS 6 (with changes under the hood again), I would be waiting for the blackberry 10 to hit the market.

Cant wait!

I own $0 in Apple stock. Shady reports of supply chain reductions by anonymous sources are hardly a legitimate reason to be concerned. CNET is trumpeting 100 million Galaxy phones sold while in the same amount of time, twice as many iPhones were sold. Wall Street is putting out false information to help out their hedge fund buddies. Tech pundits are trashing the products just because they're bored and need the clicks.

I haven't been "into" Apple that long, but I've been told this is pretty much how it always works with Apple. Every 3-5 years, we get into this "Apple is doomed" cycle in the media. I guess I'll just wait it out--can't do much else.

I think everyone agrees that Apple is facing stiff and high quality competition, and there are many people who prefer the Android OS to iOS; however the WSJ article regarding the reduction is 4" screens was pretty egregious. It relied on unnamed sources, quoting numbers that are now known to have been way way off (so far off that it should have raised red flags to both the reporter and the editor). Somehow this unnamed source (apparently working for an Asian component manufacture) knew that the order reduction was because of "low demand for the iPhone 5". Even if that were true, just how would this individual know what Apple's motives were? Truth is that Estimates have Apple selling a minimum of 45 million phones in Q1, and probably over 50 million (I believe either would be a record). Several tech and investment blogs have gone so far as to predict the "end of Apple" or wonder "can Apple survive" based on this WSJ report. A month earlier stocks plummeted when a single reporter declared that nobody was buying iPhones in China on the day it was released; however three days later we learned that more iPhone 5s were sold in China than anyone had anticipated. Whether it's intentional or not, it's become clear that a single false report can cause a multi-billion dollar drop in Apple stock.

For some reason people react more strongly to bad news when it involves Apple than any other company. Look at the maps thing. For the most part Apple's map app works just fine, but it did have some issues and was deserving of criticism. For about a month this map thing was the biggest story in the world of tech; yet when Android 4.2.2 was released with countless major stability issues (many still haven't been fixed) it went practically unreported. Why? Because people don't expect a stable polished experience from Android is part of the reason, but the main reason is that because the tech nerds who do most of the tech reporting prefer the open and customizable experience provided by Android and dislike iOS because it's closed and can't be modded. To my experience the individuals are absolutely passionate in their hatred for iOS and Apple and gleefully report any perceived blemish.

I remembered tuning into Apple keynote not knowing what to expect not knowing what device they would be making next pretty much the last five keynotes we've already known what to expect.

I will stay with the next iPhone. I have been a Mac person since the early 90s. Yes, Apple will definately face some stiff competition, mainly because it has become boring. The same look since 2007. Jazz it up a little. There is a lot they can do. Solar, inductive charging, push-to-talk. Thin isn't always great. iPhone 5 feels like you not even holding a phone. I've dropped mine 3 times already. Too many BS apps, even if free. Folders that look like garbage. Give us the option to custermize. This is Apple. They can do so much more.

Here's something interesting that relates to what we were saying:

http://techcrunch.com/2013/01/20/apple-reportedly-reduces-iphone-5-lcd-panel-orders-from-sharp/

Techcrunch.com re-reporting the reduction in 4" screens two weeks after it was originally reported. This is click whoring at its worst, but criticizing Apple is easy money these days.

"Apple never innovates"
"Nintendo only has kids games"

Yet both these companies make billions more than their competitors....

Nintendo is close to bankruptcy. Poor decisions lead to that, apple took some but accumulated treasure will enable firm to take some more without being kicked out.

If there was a small, good Android handset available I think I'd switch today.

iOS will have to change massively to make me stay - get Apple's poor quality apps and services out of the way, stop the censorship, improve the store, implement cross app file sharing, improve the UI etc.

yes, getting a bit stale....I started with 3G, then 4 and now 5. Unless there are some monumental changes with the next iteration, I'm strongly considering the next version of Galaxy Note

I'm also getting bored to iPhone. If the next iteration is as boring as iPhone 5 was (or it might be even more boring if it is going to be 5S) than I'm probably gonna get next Lumia 930 or what ever it will be.

I have recently sold my iPhone 5 and replaced it with a nexus 4. I love the nexus 4 and to be honest the android software is fantastic most of the time.......but, I'm going back to apple, apple are way behind on innovation but something keeps pulling me in? I do think iOS will evolve this year, at least I hope so. But I doubt I will buy the next iPhone......I will wait until 2014.

You switched from an LTE phone to a 3G phone? Ugh--now that I have LTE, I would never go back.

I recently switched from the i5 to try out the Samsung Galaxy S3. I wasn't able to return it because I was past my 30 days so I gave it to my wife, who loves the S3, and ended up picking up a 4S because I just couldn't get with Android. The grass may seem greener on the other side, but it's just grassier. I prefer iOS because its simple and it does what I need it to do. The ecosystem is a major plus for me as well. I plan on picking up another i5 in the coming weeks. Some of the prices on Craigslist are just plain bananas.

I just traded my s3 for a 4s the other day, first apple product since the 3gs. I hated the s3. Jellybean made it horrible. And i am not a samsung fan. I used android for the past 3 years and i just got bored with it. I believe if i get another phone in the future it will be a iphone. Im interested in more details on the Math.
