Because they are regretting buying the wrong smartphone. Thats pretty much the truth. Why else would they put energy into it?

Yup, I sure will be sticking with the iPhone. I manage mobile devices in the enterprise and get to play with all kinds of devices and OS's everyday. iOS and the iPhone is still leagues ahead of everyone else. Android is the biggest POS I've ever seen. NFC is a joke. Multitasking is WAY better in iOS than Android.

Curious as to how many devices do you manage in your "enterprise" and what are you using now?

And if you could please be specific as to why NFC is a "JOKE" in your words? Have you used NFC? if so what did you use it for ?

Thanks

why are the android fanboys here if they hate the iPhone?

Probably the same reason the Apple fanboys are always in the Android forums and you tube channels.

I'm going back to Android if iOS7 turns up to be a big disappointment.

iOS6 shows that the operating system is becoming stale and indicates that Apple isn't being innovative like they used to under Jobs.

iOS hasn't exactly had a whole lot of ground breaking features added even when Jobs was alive.

I’m gonna preface this by saying this is just my own personal opinion based solely on my own needs, experience and employment. I may in fact be in the extreme minority so take it for what it is.

I’ve tried a number of smartphones over the years, including high-end Blackberries and a couple of nice HTC and Motorola android units that I liked a lot. Right now I find the iPhone/iOS as the most suitable solution for my needs.

I work for a government agency (~5K employees) which has always been Blackberry driven. In 2011-2012 they tested 3 platforms for BYOD rollout (WP, Android and iOS) and late last year based on field trials and employee feedback, iOS was the final choice so we’ve been going through the migration process to iOS (internal email system, remote access to schedules and corporate resources etc...) and it’s been pretty smooth.

Just as importantly for me though is the eco system. I am invested in iOS apps that I not only like but have come to depend on. My two banks that I deal with for example only currently have native apps for iOS and I use them daily. They work much better than my banks’ web and mobile sites. The other element of the eco system is iCloud which I rely on a lot. Between my wife’s and my complex schedules, with iCloud it’s really like having a family secretary everywhere we go. Everything is tied in with our tablets and mac desktop at home without any extra input on my part.

3rd party accessories and integration are also important to my. One of my cars has full iOS integration where everything is done handsfree without any add-ons. Not to mention accessories like cases and audio systems where the available options and variety is pretty broad.

I love having the ability to walk into an Apple store with any issues and walk out with a replacement on the spot. I had a nightmare of an experience when my HTC had a hardware issue and to say I got the runaround between the carrier and manufacturer, till I almost just gave up, is an understatement. This is a complete contrast to my experience with Apple.

Although I used to love to tinker and customize my stuff before, I’m at a stage in my life now between work and family commitments I just want something that works out of the box. A "stale" OS has a totally different meaning to me than the OP's. When I used Android, although some aspects were nice, on the whole I never felt comfortable with it for my daily use.

As a side note, I’m getting really good battery life on my iPhone; 2 full days of use between charges is the norm for me and I consistently get that.

So to answer the OP’s question, short of something drastic happening where a platform addresses all my needs in one neat one-stop solution, I don’t see anything that would sway me away from the iPhone for my next phone or the one after that. Always choose the phone that works for you; you will never regret that choice.

To be honest, I just read the name of the thread and that's why I'm here.

Had an iPhone 4 (less than a month, it was my dad's), iPhone 4S (probablly a year, got it in second hand), and currently have the iPhone 5 (got it from my dad's company for less than 300€).

If I would buy an iPhone from a store at regular price? No. Not because I don't want to... just because I don't have money for that. If I had I sure will!

I'm pretty sure I'll keep my iPhone till he passes out, really like it (as I liked the 4 and 4S also). And I already had Android, Blackberry, Symbian, cheap Nokias, Sony Ericsson's, whatever.

Truth is... once you go Mac you can't go back, once you go Apple... something that rimes! :D

By the way (and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings), Android sucks. So bad.... but like so bad!

I said originally I would stay with the iPhone. I just read a rummor that it would go to a 5.8" screen. Now it has become a joke. If Samsung goes to a 6.0" screen is Apple going to go to a 6.6" screen? Where the hell is the the 'quality' of the Apple product gone to? Certainly not in a larger screen.

It's a very suspicious rumor at the moment, and I doubt the truth of it. Personally, i wouldn't mind a variant the size of the upcoming Blackberry device. Anything more that that I have no need for.

I'm starting to think this will be my last iPhone unless there are dramatic changes to iPhone 6.

The UI has become extremely stale and I still can't do simple ****ing things like read and reply to a text message without exiting the app. Speaking of apps, iPhone multitasking is still half assed and not real multitasking.. let's not get into the Maps fiasco..

Hardware wise, it's nice to look at and feel, but we still don't have a bigger screen, the battery, especially on the 5, is garbage. No NFC, no innovation...

In about 2-3 months all the competitors will be ahead of iPhone and we'll still be waiting for the once a year minimal upgrade.

Awesome don't let the door hit you on the way back or when you come come crawling back due to how much better the competition really is. I've spent more time reviewing and comparing phones than most professional reviewers and the iphone 5 is the best for a reason beyond iOS. The features you're missing aren't actually a big deal, but the flaws in Android are.

Depends on what happens with newer iPhones/IOS versions.

Give me a 4.5" iPhone with a IOS UI overhaul and I'll stick around.

If they add lame features and keep 4" screens, bye.

Stale -so you want change for the sake of change?

Multitasking - exactly what CAN'T you do with iOS? Apps can play music, download files, track your location, schedule alerts - seriously, what need does this not address? Yes I bet there will be some edge case, but in engineering you design for the 80% not the 20%

Exiting the app to reply to a text message? If you didn't exit the app, the app would still be blocked by a modal dialog. I don't see how it is a big problem needing to return to it manually, it's certainly not for me.

NFC - Is currently like WAP was in 2000, a technology without a clear use. Apple does vertically integrated solutions, surely you knew this? Once NFC has a use (beyond setting up an adhoc WiFi network as it does with the 'tap to share' gimmick on Android) you'll probably see it in the iPhone.

Bigger screen - Even my previous Android phone was a 3.5 inch screen, I just don't see the appeal of massive phones. We're at a place in the market where the only way to 'innovate' is to make the damn thing bigger. Of course it's circular, I remember really tiny feature phones and then going to larger smart phone / PDA combos, and the back to relatively smaller touchscreen phones.

I've been there, switched to Android from my 3GS - glad to be back on the iPhone 5, Android was a mess.

They're the lowest common denominator because they enjoy something different from you?? You're an idiot. New batch of kids every few years and forgetting that is how businesses fail. You're a FAIL

Don't get caught up in the megahertz myth! look that up on youtube. Steve J. went over that. Architecture is very important. You guys keep getting caught up in the specs when your dual core iphone destroys many of the quard cores on the market. Please educate yourselves so you won't fall for this hype!!

Very true, I liken it to imagining a massive truck and a motorbike lined up together, the truck will have a much much larger engine, but the bike will be faster and quicker. Android runs Java, Java hasn't ever been known for speed.

The form factor of the 5 does nothing for me. I still think the 4 was the nicest.

I'm still using my 3GS and don't know what my next phone will be. I do enjoy photo stream so losing that would suck since its linked with my wife's phone and I share photos with inlaws.

I also enjoy the relative safety of the App Store.

I've dabbled with android and never really liked it but would be willing to try again. Ubuntu also has a nice looking os if it ever gets released.

I am very new to this side of the argument after buying an iPhone in October. I was an Android user from the very start and enjoyed seeing it evolve whilst owning several Android handsets, mostly HTC's. I was also active across several mainstream Android forums and yes there were the odd iPhone users who joined in purely to troll but nothing on the scale we see where iPhones are being discussed. I used to get annoyed with fellow android users who dedicated so much time ridiculing something they didn't even own! For goodness sake what a waste of time.

I joined here to get good information on the phone I presently use and I think that's the same for most people. Anybody who joins a forum purely to ridicule others and their choices be it Android or iPhone seriously needs to get a life.

----------

I can see why some feel the OS is a little stale, but its still way nicer to use than anything I have tested. There are certain things I had on Android that I miss and I think Apple could adopt and likely do a lot better. I love the screen size on my iPhone 5 and wouldn't want anything bigger right now. Its becoming a race amongst manufacturers to push the sizes of the screen to almost tablet size and I think its in danger of infringing on both markets IMO. I know I read many criticisms of the 5 not having a big enough screen but for me it was what attracted me along with the ease of use of the device. Simplicity and reliability brought me here :)

Get an email, type a reply, send, back to pocket. Done.
Sitting on BART, open a game, play it, back in pocket. Done.
Get a text, reply, back in pocket. Done.

Not to sound rude or anything but if that is the case, there shouldn't have been an iPhone 4/4S,5/5S(?) or for that matter even a 3GS. There shouldn't have been a galaxy S2 or S3. There shouldn't have been a Note 2. Nokia 1100 did 2 out of the 3 things you mentioned there. Makes me curious as to which phone you use. However, I do agree that if people want to just stare at their mobile screens changing from day to night, they have some serious issues to deal with. :)

I have never left apple for an android or windows smartphone since my iPhone 3G I like the fact that there is always plenty of apps this is what makes it a smartphone.

So how many stores or lets say soda machines have NFC technology running today where you live, where exactly can you use NFC besides swapping contacts and pictures? Do you know the security risks that maybe involved using NFC?

The iPhone5 is garbage why? because you forgot to charge it the night before and it died on you?

Yep Maps took and a hit, and Google maps is working fine, Apple will put there own version up soon or maybe not but you make it out to be a big deal, why?

The UI is stale, does the device do what it was built to do? If you have a problem with your device do you make an appointment or go into an apple store and see if it can be fixed or replacement of the device can be achieved ?

This reply is NOT to pick on you or anyone I'm just asking is all. It seems you have nothing good to say about Apple's iPhone 5 and the IOS, do you feel better ranting here ?

Cheers:eek:
