which ios version did your 2017 ipad ship with Reno

I bought a new iPad only to be able to use iOS 11, so for me it's a resounding YES!

I have an Air 2, iOS 10 ran really well and it's now on iOS 11 beta 4 and it runs fine. The only hiccups I see are most likely related to it being beta software. I will also update my Mini 4 to iOS 11 once the final version is out.

OP, you are missing out and should definitely upgrade.

fast icloud restore and 10.3.3 update

sounds are amazing!

My mini 4 has the iOS 11 beta, and it runs almost perfectly. The differences in performance between iOS 9-11 aren’t noticeable to me and the new features are really great (the new keyboard is awesome)
Just upgrade it, and don’t worry about having your iPad slow down, because it won’t. You’ll also get the newest security patches, and iOS 11 uses the new APFS so depending on how much you use your iPad, you can get a LOT of storage space back. For example, clash royale used to take up almost 0.8 gigs of space, now it takes 0.2 gigs of space. The difference is HUGE.

Just upgrade when the final version comes in September, the beta can be a little buggy.

Going to wait till September to upgrade to ios 11..going to be worth it

Still thinking about getting the 10.5 as well

Typing from it right now using the ASK with iPad 10.5 iOS 11!!

It is a dream. Totally replacing my laptop for main use.

I always had a wariness with iPads, only bought the first gen.

But this 10.5 and the ASK with iOS 11 is fantastic. The videos do not do it justice. You have to feel how much easier the device becomes in your world.

I can disconnect from my keyboard and take it back in the rack server room and ssh into anything. It’s not a clunky laptop.

My colleagues are even looking into asking upper management if we can get these things in the fall for work in the back.

Loving it.

I am currently resisting the urge to put beta on my 10.5 right now.

I've done Betas before plenty of times. But 10.3.3 is working "well enough" to tide me over. It will then be like having a new ipad, rather than one that is slightly broken before apps are updated to work properly, the OS isn't yet properly stable, etc. :D

iOS 10 on my mini 2 was a horrible experience. That was an A7 and Air 2 is A8X. My iPad mini 4 with A8 runs fine w/ current beta iOS 11. The A8X is faster than the A8 so I think the Air 2 should run fine on iOS 11.

iOS 11 (even in beta form) on the 10.5 is boss!! Not so much on the iPhone, honestly!
[doublepost=1500945733][/doublepost]On my Air 2, I’m sticking with iOS 10.
Yes, folks often find older iOS versions to be zippier and have better battery life, than newer operating systems on older hardware. These two points make me wonder whether version 11 will hamper my iPP AND Mini 4's performance. I don't know the technical reason why, but battety life often takes a dip.

Just go ahead and install the beta. From most accounts iPad Pro is running better than new iPhones. YMMV but in my case I installed PB2 two weeks ago with only two springboard crashes for the whole period.

I have just installed PB3. It seems the users that installed Beta 4 (developer fork) are pretty happy with it.

I wish I would left my iPad mini on its default os, whatever was it, 8 or 9. Apple is horrible when it comes to optimization, but if you really wanna test your Airs, watch you tube videos for lag and other suprises.

No point this late in the game. I use this device for work, and right now i can live without the ios 11 features.

Just going to wait for the release.

When I updated to 10.3.3 on my ipad air2 it worked much better. Before that I was running iOS 8 something. I was always afraid to upgrade but it goes so much faster now and you tube videos no longer freeze. Also, my photos no longer take up 5 GBs like they did in iOS 8 even after I deleted all photos.

HI
I have in iPad Air and an iPad Pro 10,5".
On iPad Air maybe I should not upgrade to iOS11 because it runs so well with iOS10.3.3. My iPad Pro also still runs with iOS10.3.3.
Due the reported issues on iPhones 7/7+, like drain battery, and others bugs, I´m afraid to upgrade my ipad Pro to iOS11. It´s incredible but its battery lasts sometimes 20 or 30h in my regular use.
So, based in your experience, should I upgrade to iOS 11 or waiting to some later version?

Thsnk you

The battery issues are never widespread. Some people face it some don’t. It depends on a lot of factors. So really whatever we say here will not help you. I think Apple is still signing iOS 10.3.3. Update your pro and see if it’s fine. If not then you can go back to 10.3.3.

Ps. iPad specific features on iOS 11 are killer.

Believe it or not I am still on iOS 9.3.4, So I haven't downloaded iOS 11 on my iPad Air 2 because I really really worried if i do install iOS 10 or 11 it will definitely slow down my iPad which I definitely don't really want like the animations will be choppy, shuttering and the apps/games won't load as fast compared to on 9.3.4. I just don't want to take the risk as once you upgrade to a new version of iOS unfortunately you can't downgrade go back to a previous or older version of IOS...

So I am keeping my iPad Air 2 on iOS 9.3.4 forever even I would like to use the new iPad features like the new dock, new and improved multitasking and the new file manager. Anyway I definitely can wait and get to use those new iPad features when I get a new iPad in a year or 2 time. :D:D

So I am wondering iPad users will you be upgrading to the iOS 11 when it comes out this fall on your iPad?? Or will you staying on the current version of the iOS on your iPad?? Will you be using the new iPad features(new dock, new/improved multitasking and the new file manager) on your iPad?? o_O

And should I upgrade to iOS 11 on my iPad Air 2?? Or should I keep it on iOS 9.3.4?? Because I don't really know if I should or not?? I just really worried that iOS 10 or 11 will definitely slow down my iPad Air 2 as I said in my post above..... o_O

I held out on 9 for a long, long time because I was worried about battery life losses that I'd seen during the 10 betas. I upgraded to 10 only about six months ago.

I upgraded my Mini 4 and Air 2 during the first week after 11 was released publicly. I did not experience any changes in battery life with either, but both had some performance issues and I have downgraded both to 10.3.3 now.

The two things I really liked about 11 were the new keyboard and the new dock. I didn't like the extremely cartoonish look, and as mentioned I didn't like the performance issues. I will stay on 10.3.3 until I'm convinced that most of the performance issues have disappeared for most users.

Avoid the update on your Air. Unfortunately, I did it and now have a ipad that stutters, is slow, and will not stay connected to the internet.
All of this even after a reset and restore, and then a reset and set up as new. I fear I will soon be stuck with an expensive paperweight.

Go back to 10.3.3 while you still can. Even if you don't have a backup to restore, you can rebuild most of what you had, and the performance gain is noticeable.
