Asus eee >>>>> Any Apple

You're mental. I can see how an Eee might negate your need for a MacBook, but if you're doing much more than browsing the internet, checking mail and typing - which a lot of people do - that statement becomes utterly ridiculous. Editing HD video on a 900MHz processor? With (at most) 8GB of memory? Get out. Plus, the Eee is a daft name. Sounds like a pig squealing.

I'm buying a MacBook Pro as soon as they're updated. I don't need one right now though, so if they don't get updated on the 15th I'll probably just wait.

The question was will you still buy on the 15th if there is NOT an update. Or will you keep waiting?

Biggest wait i'll do is till easter time. Ive been waiting since last year november 15 months is that? Just saved up enough so i wanna invest in something good :D

In answer to the question.... I'd keep waiting. I've been waiting since september so a few more weeks/months wont hurt me. If you're going to buy and spend £2k you might as well get the most for your money!

If new MBP on 15th and released same day. Yes, I'll be at my :apple: store.
If new MBP on 15th and released shortly there after. Yes, I'll either order online or wait if specific release date for stores is given.

In no new MBP at all. Antacid (or maybe a :apple:tv if new one comes out).

If and this is a big if, they release a MacBook Touch or some other type of ultra portable, that would be a consideration, but I don't think I'm going to replace my MacBook anytime soon, it's only 45 days old at this point, and I see no reason to shell out more money for a new release of it.

I've been waiting since the 2.33 came out :D I keep saying I'll hold out for a smaller form MBP... I've been expecting one since the Intel switch, and now everything points toward it.

I've got a mid-2007 MacBook for the meanwhile, if nothing MBP-related comes out I'll just buy a 2GB stick to keep me going (transfer it to the MBP I eventually get for 3GB in the MBP and 1.5GB in the MB).

And if the next MBP update STILL doesn't bring a 12-13 incher, I'll give in on the idea and just get whatever low end 15" that comes out (I'll be hoping it's comparable to the current high end 15")

I'm waiting for my financial aid to come through so that I can replace the G3 iMac that I've been using exclusively for the past several months. If there's no update on the 15th, I'll probably wait a week or two before I go ahead and buy.

New MBP will have no optical drive, but flash based hard drive and revolutionary new
touchscreen. Also new MP's are likely. Those are my expectations.

Don't understand how anyone would buy before Macworld unless they
had no computer to use.

If that was true I would defiantly buy now. I am not a fan of touch screens and what am I going to do without an optical drive?

yeah, the mbp is basically what one could call a desktop replacement laptop.. one of those without an Optical drive wouldn't be very attractive to me.

ps I like my data being able to be written to more than a set number of times. especially with an operating system on a flash based drive; you wouldn't be able to use your computer after about a month

Yes - Apple is likely to make a boatload off of me in a few weeks, but how much depends on what shows up.

I've been holding out on a number of fronts, and I'm the type that prefers to be a bit more future-proofed and wait for a new generation (and to those saying it's irrelevant because things gets updated every few months, I disagree - speed bumps and major redesigns are very different, the MBP has seen barely more than a new chip here and there for 2 years).

> New MBP = instant sale, take my money
> No new MBP = possibly one of whatever new-fangled laptop/device/thingy shows up, depends on how cool it is
> New :apple:TV = quick sale (yes, yes, I know it's so wonderful and amazing at everything it does today...whatever...it could be much more than it is, and the way the video download landscape is evolving, I definitely want V2)
> New Mac Mini = not sure we'll see one, but depending on what happens with the :apple:TV, this could serve well as a stand-in (at least it would have a built-in DVD drive and let me rip out one more TV component)
> Updated iPhone = pretty good chance of a sale, especially if anything remotely related to Canada surfaces, if there is no update then I'll wait for Rogers to cave in
> New iPod socks and fanfare about 6,000,000,000,000 TV shows sold = screw it, I may continue to drink the :apple: kool-aid, but I'll wait until they remember they still make computers

Cheers, Colin.

I might wait a few days after the 15th if they don't have a MBP update, but after that, I'm either buying a refurbished or just getting myself a PC laptop.
