I find it strange when others like yourself say they ‘lose interest in a smart phone’. I mean, what do you expect a smart phone to do for you today that it couldn’t do 10 years ago? They’re literally multi tools that we use every day Way-more than just for a means of communication. If you’re ‘losing interest in what possibilities you can do with a smart phone’, then your expectations probably aren’t realistic.
I hadn’t thought about them that way, but you’re right. The smartphone is the Swiss Army knife of electronics. I even use mine as a spare laptop, with a wireless keyboard and MS Word and MS Excel doing very well for me.

Been a long time iPhone person here, have everything Apple wants you to have, phone watch computer, tv ect. My thing is with Apple, its still the same thing every year. I am thinking about holding out and seeing what the Note 10 looks like, anyone else in the same boat as me? I want to keep my iPhone and what not, but its just loosing my interest in what possibilities you can do with a smartphone.

I went from iPhone 7 to S10e. Used it for a couple months and ended up getting iPhone XS. The S10e is a great phone for value but I have a trust issue with how google operates and handles my data. With iOS 13, apple is really trying to improve our data privacy. Plus they do a better job at vetting apps in the App Store than Google.

I think it really comes down to you get what you pay for. I’m willing to pay more for better assurance that my data sharing is somewhat limited. If that makes any sense.

Nope, not even almost. I have a Max. Best phone I've ever owned. I'll stick with Apple.

In two years you’ll be asking if you should switch to iPhone from android. Lol. Both OS have reach maturity there’s incremental upgrades to each OS but by no means it is the same feeling when each model reiterated jumping from iPhone 2, 3, 4 and 5.

I mean the Retina display with iPhone 4 was kind of mind blowing compared to screens at that time. To actually see detail in pictures was phenomenal on such a device. “But now it’s 1080p screen vs 4K. I kinda see a difference. I think...”

If I took a plunge right now on Android, it'd be with the OP7 Pro or upcoming Pixel 4. Much as I would like to, I just don't have a use case for doing so. Quite the opposite in fact, as I have my Xs Max, 3 Xr, 1 SE and series 4 Apple Watch in my immediate family.

To break that continuity would be borderline selfish. Now if I had an iPad, maybe. I used to always say "an Android phone, and iPad are the best possible combination".

I've got too much "life" going on currently to want to shake things up, which I do have the inclination for at times. However, I largely realize it'd be change for the sake of change. Just don't have time/resources for that.

With all that said... those two phones listed above look WICKED NICE!!! If I were ever "gifted" one I'd definitely put them through their paces. As is though, my Xs Max can't be beat.

YMMV

My wife did broke the continuity and it definitely does kind of suck.

We use google photos for photo sharing but most of the other google apps are pretty uninspired on iOS.

I recall the days where I would get so excited over the rumors, unveilings, etc. Those were fun and invigorating times for a tech geek but it's been a long time since I have felt that way. That said, no matter what hardware Samsung, Google, or any of the others put out, as long as they run android, I have no interest. For me personally, I never have liked the look of icons, the messiness of notifications across the top of the phone, or even the customizations. Granted, that is just me. 10+ years in with an iPhone, while slightly dabbling with android minimally along the way, I am not interested in learning a new platform to make it work as fluidly as efficiently as iOS does for me today (and I am not tied to an 'ecosystem' as my iPhone is the only apple product I use). That, and the newness would eventually wear off leaving me with just another phone, on a different OS, that doesn't have iMessage which matters most to me. Toss in other apps I use that are not offered on android and the alternatives are crap....nah, I'm good. That is the beauty in choice and competition. If you don't like one offering, you have others to go try.

Completely unrelated to anything you said... But GO CUBS!!!

This...

I am perfectly happy with Iphone. I guess we are just boring, happy, Iphone users.:)

And This..

And This is so much me. Gone through that phase, when each year was a new Nokia.
Fortunately, I am at that stage in life where practicality has taken over passion :p.

I swap between android and iOS all the time, just recently sold my XR and got a OnePlus 7 Pro, I love it and currently prefer it to the XR. I'm not locked into either so I can freely swap whenever I fancy.

I need a second number for work so I thought I'd try an S10+. Nice phone, but Android is so frustrating and takes much longer to do basic stuff compared to iOS.No way am I giving up my Macs so I was hoping I could integrate the S10+ into my workflow; hah, workfreeze more like. I don't want to mess about with phone settings that were working but mysteriously are no longer, so I got an eSIM for my XS, put my physical work sim in it and I am now back to my usual efficient self.

I've switched back and forth 3 times this year already. I love Android, but iOS is just better, smoother, more reliable. The ability to customise everything for me becomes too distracting. Oh and Airdrop, you don't miss it until its not there. Currently using an 7+

Out of interest, what did you struggle with on Android?

Not so much struggle but irritation. Some apps seemed to have their own version of the notification system, default apps would change and start that "What do you want to open this with?" malarkey again, trawling through the Play store to find a decent app that does as well as Apple's stock apps, having to install add-ons so that basic gestures work, a lot of app inconsistencies (menus in different places, differing fonts and styles) and it just seemed to take more time to do simple things - a lot of the time I'd think "Where the hell has that gone now?" I'm sure a lot of people like to spend time fiddling with their phone but I just want to get on with it.

No, I’m sticking with the iPhone.

Wouldn’t want to be locked out of apples ecosystem using an android.

I prefer the privacy and security of Apple.

Same here.

I switch to the one plus 7 pro. God is that phone amazing and oxygen OS is great. But after almost 2 months of the device. I just went out and bought a iPhone XS. iOS might be boring but is just so much better. The one plus pro was damn near close for me to stay with android but I had 2 huge problems. The camera is a huge let down and losing iMessage was a bigger negative then I thought. 90% of my contacts have iPhone so iMessage is huge for me. If android had some kind of messaging service like iMessage to android and iPhone users and the camera was better on the one plus, I probably would have not looked back.

I like Apples OS. That’s what keeps me here. Yes, other phones may have a better camera (which would be a big reason if someone made something never seen before that was like DSLR quality).

I’m waiting for Qualcomm chip as my LTE at home isn’t going. I use WiFi assist to help on that.

All the other stuff is not as important. The X specs are great and no changes means I’m keeping my money in my pocket and going with the phone another year.

I'm finding that whatsapp is a capable substitute for iMessage. Getting everyone to download and stick with it however, FORGET ABOUT IT!!!

We have a family group chat going on whatsapp and it is nice to bridge the gap between Android and iPhone users.

Privacy and security are my primary reasons to stick with Apple. The ecosystem is the secondary. Android products simply can’t match it. I don’t need crazy new niche features, I need my features to work well. Apple does that for me in a way Android never has, and I don’t think that will change any time soon.

All perfectly fair reasons, personally I think Pixel and OnePlus are the only versions of Android I would be happy with. I have tried many Samsung phones in the past and always gone back to OnePlus, Pixel/Nexus or Apple.

Apple is unrivaled in this department.

Same Pixel or One Plus are the only Android phones, I'd give a shot. Samsung is for feature chasers, and yearly upgraders.

Yeah no one I know has WhatsApp and I know they won’t download it just for me.

I don’t like any of the iPhones at the moment, but like the Apple Watch, HomePod and iPad so an android phone would be out of sync with that.
What I’m doing is just using my iPhone a lot less than I used to, and using and old one.

As I’m using an SE, I may be looking at buying a camera again.
