Fixing a beta version of IE is a lot easier than fixing a beta version of the OS, so I'd consider it a success compared to the Vista beta :p

All installation notes are included in ZIP file.

First please to check what version of BootCamp do you have (2.0 or 2.1 ?). According to this information JUST COPY & OVERWRITE existing in Drivers\Apple "BootCamp.msi" and "BootCamp64.msi" files from specified directory related to your Apple Boot Camp version :)

Which "Drivers\Apple" folder are you talking about?
I cant find that folder on my early 2008 Macbook Pro.

right clicking on Boot Camp Assistant in /Applications/Utilities and choosing "Get Info" tells me that Boot Camp Assistant is version 2.0

the install notes.txt states
" Apple BootCamp Windows 7 - install notes:

1. Copy Apple BootCamp 2.0/2.1 drivers available on Mac OSX DVD 1 to folder on local harddisk drive.

2. Copy and overwrite "BootCamp.msi" and "BootCamp64.msi" in "Drivers\Apple" directory using files in "Apple Boot Camp 2.0/2.1" dir.

3. Run Apple Boot Camp installer :)

Enjoy !"

seeing that I cant find "Drivers\Apple" where should the msi files be placed?

The "Drivers\Apple" folder is on your Mac OS X Install DVD, Disc 1. Someone hasn't been paying attention!

Thanks for that, I thought that the folder was something that had to be found before installing windows 7. Drivers/apple wasnt visible from within OSX. Now that I've installed Windows, and inserted the disk I can see the bootcamp folder. Preparing now to copy the files across via a usb drive.

Now if only the drivers weren't horribly outdated. I really wish they'd offer a frequently updated package (one you could put on a CD or flash drive) with all the drivers in it every couple of months or so. One you could download from the Apple site, toss on a flash drive/CD, install Windows, and run the package installer from the flash drive/CD.

Yes.Does anyone know how to fix the sound problem?I can't get it work on my macbook..

btw.I use bootcamp to install Windows 7..

I installed the realtek drivers from the bootcamp folder in compatibility mode (vista64) and the sound works in bootcamp.

In vmware windows7 cant see the network for some reason.

Also windows7 is crashing whenever it goes to sleep.

I installed Win7 on my Mac Pro a few days ago, mostly for grins, but partly because I wanted to run the Windows version of Office, and a few other Win-only programs. So far I'm impressed. The installation was seamless. Win7 seems very fast, maybe even faster than OS X, though I imagine the inevitable and inexorable registry fragmentation/corruption will eventually take care of that.

Can ANYONE with an external firewire hard drive (FW400 preferably) verify their FW drive works?

I gave Windows 7 a shot, loved it, but I couldn't access my external FW drive (which I can do perfectly in Vista 64) using HFS Explorer. So I went back to Vista 64 for the time being.

Does your glass trackpad work properly (2 finger scrolling, and 2 finger tap for secondary menu)?

I also have Unibody MB 2.4. I installed LIMO's patch, but thats my prob. I need to scroll, and bring up shortcut menus.

Guys I am having a trackpad problem.

Windows 7 (7000) 64bit
MacBook 2.4ghz Unibody

I installed Windows 7 from technet ISO, then ran Bootcamp 2.0 and then 2.1 using a link I found on here. I have also loaded the Apple trackpad vista download 1.0, but the driver is still signed at 6.x.x. provider Microsoft.

I would appreciate any help on getting the multi-touch trackpad working, mine currenly only single clicks, no other functionality.

I am having to use the wired mighty mouse from my iMac; this is not good as the cable is REALLY short, and the USB ports are on the left, meaning that I have to use the mouse left handed!

Thanks,

Ian.

I've been running Win7 on my 2006 Macbook Pro, and it's been running great. Fast, intuitive and colorful. I'm seriously considering my next computer purchase be a native Windows 7 machine.

The biggest selling point has been the new Windows Explorer (Libraries = very cool) and the taskbar. I can't freaking stand the OS X Finder, and God knows I've tried. I really hope Snow Leopard will improve on the Finder (but I've hoped for the same since the days of Jaguar).

And please Apple, no more boring gray! I'm tired of confusing the Finder window with the iTunes window all the time. The Leopard UI is so monotonous and uninspired (I like Tiger's full Aqua much more). Isn't it ironic that OS X is looking more and more like OS8 and OS9, while Win7 is generating hype unrivaled since Win95?

It's subtle and far more pleasing.

Also the “Libraries” in Windows can easily be aped with Smart Folders in the sidebar.

On the moon.
Seriously? Is this a beta?

It feels like a final release if you ask me.

My computer is performing so much better compared to Vista.

I've gotten almost double performance in World of Warcraft alone.

I'm dying to see the final version.

Didnt read the whole thread so if its already been asked sorry.

The beta works fine for me in Parallels 4. However, whenever I try to view a picture 1) the picture never shows 2) the OS hangs and I have to stop the VM.

Anyone else having this problem?

Link is still working, so I do not understand the problem - change your ISP maybe ;)

Regarding Boot Camp modified installers: you can do it by myself using msi editor - drop off "Launch Conditions" and save. I did not modify "VersionNT=600" occurences to "VersionNT>=600" mainly because Windows 7 is different than Vista (more drivers are included) and I believe there is no sense to uninstall some of them and replace by Boot Camp drivers for Vista especially if everything is OK. This could lead to overall OS instability. I suggest to stay with standard Windows 7 drivers and install only necessary drivers like Realtek HD Audio 2.14 or MoultiTouch ((check exclamation marks in Device Manager). You can always delete some unnecessary drivers and leave only these in Drivers/Apple directory (like I did - I needed only OSD and Fn keys to get work), but check Device Manager before to get info what drivers you need. You can customize Boot Camp drivers too - replace old drivers with the newest keeping same filenames :)

Regarding audio latency patch - first we must install Boot Camp drivers then restart our Mac. After reboot go to the Task Manager, kill KbdMgr.exe process. Then we can replace KbdMgr.exe. Some persons also modify NVIDIA PowerMizer settings to set latency lower. You can also try new Broadcom wireless drivers (install it manually !) which should fix audio issues (cracks, pops etc), but I did not noticed improvement in DPC latency check tool. According to DPC latency check tool KbdMgr.exe process is responsible for bad results, so I set permanently CPU affinity to CPU 1 core from (that's the whole trick). Check DPC results before and after this fix.

Well I called whole ZIP as " LIMO patch", but honestly these files are just slightly modified, so do there is no risk to use them (no virus/backdoor trojans etc) - cause like Jaymz Hetfield says "we do not give a **** !"

Regarding Aero Glass - install graphic drivers first, restart your Mac. Run Windows Experience Index once (and do not expect high scores now), then run it again (WEI score should be better - 5.0 on MBP Early 2008). High score should unlock Aero :)

P.S. Try to connect your favourite DAP under Windows 7 - I was impressed to see new interface with pic of my walkman when device was detected -it looked like an external Sony application :)

P.P.S. Great OS - like XP on steroids/accelerated and improved Vista. Great competitor to OSX.

I know this is off topic but is this the reason boot camp won't install on xp64?

I've got everything installed in terms of drivers but am missing the keboard shortcuts to adjust screen brightness.

I had vista x64 installed but its soooooo slow.

again sorry to go off topic but any help could be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Can't Get Bonjour to Work on Windows 7

All,

I've installed Windows 7 on my Mac Pro. It works beautifully except for the fact that, once I've installed Bonjour, the app doesn't register. I search for it, it is nowhere to be found, in spite of repeatedly reinstalling it.

Does anyone have a success story with Bonjour? Any advice?
