Citing the same report by Charles Wolf, AppleInsider expanded on the continued dominance of the Mac in profits. For the U.S. market, Apple is now the “profit share” leader, accounting for 29.4 percent of every dollar in home computer sales. In comparison, HP accounted for 20.6 percent, while Dell was at 12.9 percent

That has nothing to do with what we are on about. Incase you haven't noticed, this is a thread about software not hardware. I think Windows 8 will earn Microsoft more than Lion will ever do for Apple.

You're basing that assessment on a blog from the internet? I'd look for more credible sources before making that conclusion

Breaking news... they are shutting the doors as of this writing...

Gloom and doom shuts down Microsoft thanks to the World Dominance of Apple...

Yeah Right... Nice Try

You can't deny that MSFTees have to brown-nose to survive in that toxic political culture, while in Apple engineers are overjoyed coming to work everyday and product launches are euphoric experiences!

You people just aren't able to grasp the concept of choice. Steve Jobs and Apple have so thoroughly conditioned you to accept everything they do that the concept of choice seems alien to you. You're weak minded individuals who need to be told what to like or hate and that's just pathetic.

I am not terribly fond of my Microsoft Passport but this might make it useful.

With Windows 8, we introduce the optional capability to sign in to your PC with a Windows Live ID

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011/09/26/signing-in-to-windows-8-with-a-windows-live-id.aspx

Hmmm....

Is this a good idea?

Your Windows Live ID can't use HTTPS automatically because this feature is not available for your account type.

Interesting, but it seems to rely on bypassing ASLR at least and introduces another hurdle for the exploit writer. I do wonder if the exploit will be blocked by RTM though.

It will definitely have to be beefed up by the RTM if Windows 8 wants to be on par with Lion in this domain.

Methods to facilitate ROP to allow bypassing the runtime security mitigations in Lion have not yet been found, including during access to the DPs.

LOL, havent heard it called a passport in a while
Some of use still remember it from the single sign-on Passport logo days. It is not so strong anymore but I still appreciated the simplicity of it.

MSFT learned from that failure to make the Live ID for all services. It seems to be working now.
Single sign in is still very convenient though. I hate making new accounts. I just regret choosing a crummy e-mail 10 years ago for my Hotmail address.
