Metaphorically, or in actual fact?

And - may I ask wether this was white Burgundy (Chardonnay), or red Burgundy (Pinot Noir)?

Yes, actual fact: it was a red wine whose bottle was handmade and whose cork was original. The coolest thing about the wine, besides that it was more alive and well than wines 1/3 of its age, is that it would be able to throw off even the most experienced tasters, since it has a taste and nose unlike any other wine in existence. It would be challenging to guess the vintage and region, for three reasons: it's incredibly mysterious, it was made before grafting with American rootstocks began, and it's devoid of any labels.

I had no idea Neiman Marcus sold wine.

Some cognac and a little bit of homemade vanilla ice cream. Should help the large dinner go down.

Fascinating.

An extraordinary experience.

How does it compare/contrast with the red Burgundies (Pinot Noir) of today?

Bought a six pack of Pilsner urquel to keep in my fridge for a buddy.

Pilsner's are really hit and miss for me. That is one style of beer that I haven't grown real found of. This particular beer is good though. I have had a few that were absolutely horrible.

Have you tried the three different pours of Pilsners. I was able to try a true "sweet" or Mliko pour at an event I went to. Completely different taste between a traditional pour and sweet. Still my favorite is the Hladinka pour, which has about an inch or so of head. It was with this beer that I was able to experience all three pours. If you get the chance, find someone or a setting where you can experience them all. Good stuff!

I was able to snag two bottles of CBS this weekend! Going to age one and the other will be unleashed around Turkey Day.

CBS? Whimper.

Do enjoy.

My sources are under instruction to keep their eyes very much open.

Found this on tap recently, quite tasty!

Quite tasty, indeed, isn't it?

Some weeks ago, (urged urgently by me) a single, solitary crate was delivered to the high end off licence (and award winning delicatessen) from where I acquire most of my beer.

Of the twenty four bottles, I managed to lay hands on 14.

Then, not quite two weeks ago, I learned that two further crates of this sublime nectar had made their wonderful way to the same destination. One was immediately ear-marked for me, and - for now - I am happily consuming its contents.

I shall discreetly require as to whether I can lay hands on some of what might not yet have been snatched up of the content of the other crate.

Phoned my off licence; apparently, there are still a number of bottles of Curmudgeon's Better Half, perhaps around ten. Eight have been put aside for me.

Moreover, it also appears that they will receive deliveries of both KBS and CBS, but do not expect to receive deliveries of the latter until December. Needless to say, I have asked that they keep me in mind, and notify me in due course.

I am curious where he is getting his KBS from! I would love to get my hands on another bottle or two. It has loooooong been sold out here. CBS has been hit and miss at the local spots. I was lucky enough to find two bottles.
