Happy birthday @Scepticalscribe , glad you enjoyed it properly!

I just came back from Madrid and we had an amazing red wine, Flor de Pingus, which I very rare I drink. But we all loved it. Pricey though but exquisite!

And with Lomo and jamón de Iberico, delicious.
Many thanks.

Sounds delicious and I hope that you enjoyed it.

Since then, as part of yesterday's delivery of wine and beer, three more bottles of Chablis await my attention.

Last night, I sipped and savoured a St Bernardus Abt 12, a classic from Belgium, but this evening, a glass (or two) of Viognier from the Pays d'Oc region (in France) shall keep me company.

Amazing wine, for my birthday héhé!

Never had wine from New Zealand, Australia yes and as the climate and geography is quite different must be interesting.

New Zealand exports a lot of decent to good Sauvignon Blanc. They have some nice Pinots, as well. Last time we were there, we were attending our niece's wedding at a winery in Hawke's Bay and sampled much of the local wares. Good stuff.

As @Silencio (quoted below) observes, New Zealand produces (and exports) quite a lot of Sauvignon Blanc (which would not be my favourite style, or wine).

However, I recently discovered a Pinot Noir from New Zealand, and must say that I find it excellent.

Exactly.
