How was this one? I have not seen it before. We are trying to find the Caramel Bock that should be hitting the shelves shortly by Sam Adams.

Yeah, it was a new one for us, and sorry, I didn't mean just to post up photos without any commentary :D

Anyway, it's pretty solid. Decent carbonation, a little nutmeg and cinnamon, touch of pumpkin, a little hops, more light (like you could have it with dinner) than the previous Southern Tier (which is stellar, but so rich it's like a dessert). I'd say definitely above average, great for the price! Final rating: B
 
Oh, and happy hour at the brewpub means $3 pints. Needless to say, it's packed.

I will keep an out for this one. I like pumpkin beer and always looking for new ones. You had me at nutmeg and cinnamon! lol
 
In recent months, I have returned mostly to the Old World for wines, but the lovely wine we had tonight for dinner was a smooth, elegant, velvety Chilean Reserve which was excellent.

Actually, I had forgotten just how good Chilean reserves could be.

Had you known about it before the wine was ranked so highly (and written about so warmly)?

We have discussed Pinot Noir before, and I will admit that I have long thought them 'under-powered', and 'thin', but I will admit that the reviews, remarks and tasting notes do intrigue me somewhat. I must see if I can persuade my wine merchant to try to order this on my return - very few wines from the US adorn our shelves, far fewer than are from Australia or New Zealand.

Anyway, thanks again for posting the link, - much appreciated - and may you enjoy this Oregon Pinot Noir from Evening Land Vineyards.

No, I had heard not of it before, it was a gift from a friend, and he provided the information about it.

"Blind Pig" eh? What a wonderfully seductive, and enticing name for a beer. I'd be intrigued, too, if I spotted that on a shelf somewhere.

This tastes as good as Hoegaadren although I don't know how you connoisseurs rate Hoegaaden. :)

Personally, I rather like Hoegaarden, and, if the lovely looking beer you have posted is anything like it, all I can do is wish you a happy evening's sipping and savouring.

What brand?

We elected not to have a bottle - as today will be a very long day - and so confined ourselves to two glasses each.

That means I didn't examine the bottle closely - as the Serbian owner poured the glasses of wine - (served in proper Italian bowl style wine glasses) into the glass for us.

The aroma and taste qualified it as a very good Chianti - and my colleague - who had found the restaurant - and the Chianti - while I was away in the capital last week - pronounced himself more than satisfied.
