I got one of the ikea self install ones and fitted one to my bedside table.

It’s much easier and quieter than shuffling around to find a cable.

I don’t use one in the car as I need a wired connection for CarPlay.

Could you link me to this, I'm interested in seeing what it looks like. Thanks.

I would say "more convenient" and "alot" slower than a lightning cable since you need 3 hours to top of a battery compared to 110 mins.
9t05 did a test when it FIRST came out.
0-100% on cord vs wireless.
2 hours vs 3 hours.
Wireless has and is increasing, wired has not.

yes they used a usb-c to lightning cable, 7.5w wireless charger. now there are 10-12w versions.

that 1 hour "loss" is fine by me. Especially since that 1 hour is growing smaller. And that video... just shows one thing, bias.

No.

I've used wireless for about 6 months on the iPhone X. Went back to cable. Will keep using the cable for XS Max.

- connecting the lightning cable is not that much more hassle
- 12W vs. 5W or 7.5W... if I want to top up the battery fast, cable wins
- when phone is on the table, I still use it from time to time and I don't like when charging gets interrupted (don't know if this is an actual problem or just in my head)
- with the silicone case the phone gets quite warm when on wireless charger, my battery health is at 95% after 8 months, again could be unrelated

This is what I bought
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071W4XB76/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (want to say I paid $40ish)
Works great at night. Wasn't sure about the little plug for the airpods.. but I have a silicone case over the case so other airpod charge options wouldn't work. Oh and the rubber on the bottom.. it does not move around the headrest. I had a different one that the slightest breeze would move it. It now sits on my moms desk ;) (Taped down)

Thank you! I like that it can charge basically everything. I use all my devices at once (iPad watch and phone) so this looks great

Actually if you look at the 10w charge times with android phones.. it's like 2 hours wired vs 2.25 hours wireless now.
Thats why I said the times are getting much closer, it's not a huge difference. And the new iPhones do support 10w wireless.

There are 12w and even 15w wireless chargers out there, wired has not made any more speed gains while wireless has.

That's a false statement, Iphone currently supports only 7.5W charging so it's irrelevant that there are 12w and 15w wireless chargers out there when the cap hasn't been raised by apple and literally that extra juice won't ever be used by the iPhone atm.

I thought it would be a gimmick but in reality it really is nice to just drop your phone on the charger in the dark than fiddle with a plug when your gf/SO is sleeping.

Ikea also sell circular saw drill bit attachment for £4.50 that cuts the correct size hole.

This is the same charger that’s prebuilt into some of their furniture.

It’s only a 5w charger and uses it’s own plug (vs USB) but it’s neat and the only charging light is white, small and covered by your phone when it’s charging.

The other charger I had flashed blue when charging :(

These are just rumors , until apple confirms and they didn't even mention 10w wireless charging at their keynote so sorry for not trusting a 3dparty iphonefirmware website ? lol
Even if they add 10w it's still a joke compared to 29w lightning unless you're that bad at math.
again......
tests shown: 0-100%
2 hours wired 29w usb-c to lightning
3 hours wireless 7.5w

1 hour difference, the TECH for wired HAS NOT CHANGED/IMPROVED
Wireless on the other hand continues to improve.

the convenience of wireless is a lot better than wired. And for those of us that do not require a full charge every 2 hours... wireless works perfectly.

Clearly you never used a 29w lightning adapter , 2 hrs lolwut?
It's 0-50% is half an hour as per apple advert and around 0 - 80% for 1 hour then it slows down a bit.
Again you and that math... it's getting hilarious but keep going :D

So..... your OWN claim of 110 minutes, 10 min shy of two hours for the math challenged, is now wrong?
Go re-read your comments.

Edit: BTW FF to the end of that video, 1 hour and 45 min to go from 10 to 100, 9to5 said 2 hours from 0-100.

Grats, you just backed up my comment.

Same. I wish my car had wireless CarPlay.

Love my Anker Powerwave wireless charging stand. Between that and Airpods, I rarely plug the lightning cable into the port unless I’m traveling or using iTunes..

Why ? last time i checked 110 mins are not 2 hours or do you think it's acceptable to round numbers like that?

The fact remains 110 mins vs 3 hours and 30 mins atleast for either belkin , mophie or any other w. charger you may use.
Shameful results for anyone comparing these two options even more for hiding behind the "convenience" factor.

Just highlighting your double standards.

I said the test shown 3 hours, you just said 3 hours 30 minutes. "or do you think it's acceptable to round numbers like that?"

again, your little video does not charge 0-100, it did 10-100 and it took 105 minutes.

Honestly do not care what you think is "better", you are very defensive of your choice... so go ahead and throw out more names and attacks.

I've never used the port on my 8 Plus. I sorta wish they would have removed it from the X line this year.

I missed the part where I threw any "name or insult" ? It was a civil debate which you lost when you tried to compare two lightyear away technologies.

I don't care what you use either , im not enforcing anything on anyone just saying that w. charging is a gimmik hence why AirPower has been put on hold maybe even scrapped by apple themselves.

He didn’t “lose” anything because this choice is a personal one and can’t be answered objectively.

Wired charges faster. That’s not the only consideration. There are plenty of factors other than raw speed which could cause someone to prefer wireless.

Still waiting for those plenty of factors outside not bending to get the cord.
