perhaps you'd both be better off moving to a private chat as this has absolutely nothing to do with this thread's topic!
This entire phrase annoys me, so back on topic! :)
You are not wrong, and I am sorry. <gollum voice>Will precious forgive us?</gollum voice>

"irregardless" annoys me.
Mispronounced "Ubuntu" annoys me.
Science Fiction and Fantasy listed as a single category annoys me.
The newly promoted adjective, "Slaps" is annoying.
People on my lawn....
"irregardless" :mad:

How do you pronounce "Ubuntu"?

Science Fiction and Fantasy - eh Star Trek is Science Fiction, Star Wars is Fantasy, Dr. Who kind of straddles the two.

Anime actually has many categories, action drama like the ones mentioned in my sig (avatar is Thorfinn from Vinland saga), fantasy like Frieren: Beyond Journey's end or Demon Slayer, comedy, romance etc. But everyone thinks the dirty stuff with anime girls  despite the work of great artists like Miyazaki. Ugh OT rant over.

"Slaps" some of our students use it and makes me want to slap but I value my job. :D

"Slaps" is used as a verb, as in "this song slaps", meaning that the song sounds good. Originally referring to music with impactful bass, it was then used in the context of any music sounding good, now it can be used with almost anything, including food, e.g. "this sandwich slaps".

I've also heard it as a noun, e.g. "play some slaps" meaning "play some good music." That might be very California-specific though. The terms seem to have originated in the Bay Area.

From a (US) review of a Leuchtturm notebook:
"Here's a Lucktrum notebook - I'm sure I butchered this".
Next time, please google it for a correct pronunciation.

What's the difference?
One is framed (supposedly) by science and respects current laws of nature as we understand them - with occasional hypotheticals like warp drive in Star Trek. Sta Wars of course has the "force" though with the pseudo-scientific midichlorians as an explanation.

In a coffee shop.
And - one of my own pet horrors - "take off of".

What is wrong with "from"?

As in "take from"?

This is a perfectly good, useful, brisk and crisp monosyllabic word (for those who hate and fear the grammar and glory of the possible challenge presented by polysyllabic delights) that has done solid workmanlike duty in such a context for centuries.
