Quicksilver works…

… with a minor issue where it might not properly work as an app that automatically opens at login. You can work around this by writing an Apple Script to launch it, and then specifying the Apple Script itself as a login item. I had to do this when Lion rolled out too.

iTeleport also works fine. (I'm sure Vushi is happy about that, considering what a nightmare it was to get it working properly in Lion).

**One of the things I like about DP releases is that over the next few weeks you get a sense of which developers are committed to their work and care about their customers, and which don't. If their app doesn't work in 10.8, and its some small easily patchable fix, they do it, and push it out.

the 1password app works, but the browser extensions will not install through the app. to get the extension working, you need to manually grab the extension file (presumably from a previous install in Lion) and manually install it.

also, little snitch isn't working for me.

Nevermind, Aperture works. You have to install its .dmg, not just the .app file from backup.

I could install and run Parallels but couldn't open a VMWare Win XP machine that I have! Always giving me an error at the end when converting!

VMWare don't start at all!

Yes Parallels does work. Check out this link.

A lot of frameworks have changed so a lot of things that rely on IO kexts will not work until updated for the new frameworks.

Aperture is not fully working, maybe a RAW issue, or an application incompatibility.

I highlight an image, and click the adjustment tab, it crashes for RAW and dng images. It works for TIFF.

Apps that Work (Corrections) and Others

Attempting to install newest version of Xcode from the Mac App Store prompts...

I can confirm that iStat pro Widget doesn't work. Widget just stays like this, doesn't load Live Mac Statistics or anything, just stays like this.

GarageBand works fine for me.

Sparrow Attachments Work. I'm using Sparrow Lite, but it has all features of Sparrow. And I'm using Dropbox for the Attachments, but as you can see it works.

And AirPort Utility will work even though popup keeps saying theres a newer version available, but when your taking to Mac App Store to update software, it says All Software is up to Date. And the App quits in the background, just click cancel.

And as you can see, you can then use it.

It might be useful to have a third category with Apps that work, but either require special steps to get them to work, or where functionality is limited in some form

As far as the Gimp is concerned, it seems to sometimes work... I was not yet able to pin down how and what makes it (not) work.

I will try to test more apps later!

Transmission does not work. A few mins after I launched it, I would get a kernel panic every time. Switched to uTorrent and no problems. Don't know why Transmission would cause a Kernel Panic but 10 out of 10 trys it did.
So stay away from that.

I got around that limitation (for example, I was able to update to Airport Utility 6.0) by simply replacing the SystemVersion.plist file located under /System/Library/CoreServices with one where 10.7 was given as the operating system version.

Lion Cache Cleaner also needs an update as it does at every OS bump.

Total Finder complained, but seems to work.

Pretty much all system maintenance utilities will need an update.

Cleanapp seems to work.

USB 3 drivers work.

Profire audio drivers work.
