Try that first. And maybe try disabling one or both of the others afterwards.

What audio app are you using? The Spotify watch app has always been flaky but recently even Apple's Music app seems to have problems.

Are you sure that the WOD watch app is v6.3.19? Apple often don’t update it with the iPhone app.

To check go to Settings/ More in the watch app. If it is not up to date then update it by using the App Store on the watch.

If it is up to date then please try rebooting the watch as that often fixes action button problems.
As I said in the original post, rebooting worked. What I'm really asking is if there's something I could have done to preserve the workout so far? Or, in that situation is the workout just lost?

No workout should be lost. Even if you reboot the watch without ending the workout then the app should have preserved it and recovered it when the watch app is next started.

If you can't see the workout in the iPhone app then go to the Workout History in the watch app and select it and tap Resend to iPhone.

I will see what happens in September / October because the hardware announcements often change my plans. Currently the most requested feature not in the next version is the ability to show live workout information on the iPhone (mainly for use by cyclists who mount the iPhone on their handlebars). I may also extend that to allow the app work without an Apple Watch, which would open up a whole new market of potential users.

So if nothing else changes by the time I have handled the hardware releases then that will be top of my to-do list. However it looks a big year for both iPhone and Apple Watch hardware so it may take a few months to deal with whatever is announced.
On the live workout topic, one rare occasion that I've reverted to the native workout app is treadmill. So many treadmills have a convenient place to stick a phone, I've found I like glancing at the iphone live activities display instead of looking at the watch while running treadmill. Not a huge deal for me at all, but wanted to mention it when I noticed live activities is apparently high on your list. I could also see a once in a blue moon scenario where I'd use the live activities for cycling so that will be a cool addition (99% of the time I use a bike computer but I could see a scenario on a borrowed bike or out of town traveling without a full setup where WOD live activities with a map displayed would be great, or even on a stationary bike where WOD live activities for HR/time/etc would be a cool addition). cheers

Just wanted to comment that the voice alerts are working much better for me. In the past I would have the low volume music/no alert issue and had gotten into the habit of rebooting the watch prior to runs as a remedy. Now voice alerts and music are working great without doing that. The only issue I had this morning is when I asked Siri for the time (not a usual thing though) while running. That killed the voice alerts but music continued to play at normal volume. So maybe a priority thing with watchOS. Also, wanted to say how cool the climb alerts are. I tend to run in fairly flat areas but occasionally when there are some decent hills it’s really neat to hear the ascent % and the time to complete. I’m living in the future, 😎. Thanks so much for that feature.

Is there a way to edit workouts once they’re finished? I just finished a hike following a route I created. There was a glitch in the altimeter and it stayed at only 1 m elevation gain when it should have been 461 m. This data exported to Strava correctly but not to Apple Health, for example.

Loving the app. Such a great tool.
But what I don’t get is those „phone app styles“?
I do have:
- workout maps
- route maps
- downloads map
- waypoints maps

Why so many? At my watch I only see one map when I’m on the go.
What’s the difference?

And I also want to have bigger text within the map.
If I adjust any font size of all maps above and send it to watch it is the same size as before?
Do I need to fully delete maps on my watch and then sync again?
