Was there even an original WoW box that was PowerPC only? I remember buying WoW on launch day in europe and it was universal binary.

Anyway, what others have said, just download the installer from blizzard.

I'm pretty sure there was. WoW worked on 10.3 and 10.4 PPC version, and was released before the PPC to Intel transition was announced, so I'm assuming WoW didn't go universal until 2006 when the first Intel macs started coming out.

Yup, this is true. The original discs were PPC only. I've still got them packed away somewhere.

I'm pretty sure the original discs are PPC only being that the game was released in 2004, way before Intel macs. It still wouldn't matter. Despite the original discs being PPC only, the game can still be installed and run because Rosetta would kick in. By the time the game is patched, it will be running in universal binary mode and there will no longer be issues.
