I know some people are interested and this is a very first test but I’m so impressed with the performance over my M1 Max. Everything is maximum detail with ultra shadows at the native resolution of the laptop, I can’t get it to drop below 60fps in the few areas tested so far. The GPU is a very impressive leap forward and I will do some more videos as I get the Mac setup over the next few days.

Pretty cool! I’m guessing that’s the 16”? Have you tried turning the framerate cap off?

Hello,

Thanks for all the info regarding the new M2 Max performance. Do you happen to see any issues with the RAM? ie Is it ever getting close to hitting near 32gb when running the game in mythics/raiding etc?

Just wondering cause I wasn't sure if I should get the 64GB version. And the 1TB seems to be no issues as well?

I had the M1 Max 32Gb before this and never had an issue, same with this one so far. The SSD is crazy fast so no issues either.

Here is the memory with lots of things open including WoW....

Thank you for testing WoW. I'm planning to move on M2 from Intel and you just hit the spot with this tests!
PS: WoW has more comfortable ingame FPS counter. Just press "Control + R" to switch it ON/OFF.

Thank you very much for testing WoW and share the results with us. If possible, can you also test StarCraft 2?

Thanks and have a very nice day :)

how are the fans/temps in Wow after 30-1hour?
I usually just do Epic Battlegrounds (40v40 fights) that are super heavy. The M2 Max doesn't skip a beat. I don't get so much as a hiccup or stutter in World of Warcraft. The fans kick in during the massive first clashes in the BG's (no noticeable performance dip), and then fans settle down for the remainder of the match. Thermal management seems to be quite good.

Been playing for about 4 hours tonight at max settings and the fans are inaudible right now. I have not checked temperatures though.

Absolutely a beast of a machine for WoW.

That’s good to hear. I have a MBP M2 Max 12/38 64GB on the way and the only think I wanna play on it is WoW, so it’s nice to be reassured🙏.

You will not be disappointed. Here are the settings on my setup, I run it in window mode as my desk screen is 43" so full screen is just too big when playing. It is nearly full screen though.
I like to fix it at 60fps with Vsync on, makes it really smooth and the M2 Max is able to keep 60fps 99% of the time.

Here is a quick video, poor quality as the room is dark and it is filmed on my iPad. It never skips a beat, its the perfect Warcraft machine, high performance and low energy :) really wish Blizzard would release Diablo 4 on this machine in the summer and life would be perfect lol.

14" M1 pro here, 85+- °C, but fans not at full speed, if I put them manually to 100% it goes to 70+-°C, but I am not sure if its worth it because of the higher noise going full speed

I see, i think it's okay 85+- Celsius, I don't think also if its worth it because of the noise.
Tomorrow should arrive my 16" M2 MAX and I understand that they run hotter than M1, i think I will let the fan on auto and let it to consider when needs to increase the rpm of fans, i don't think i will risk to fry the chip or something, it should throttle on critical temp

And what are your settings? The preset on 10 and anti-aliasing on/off?

EDIT: sorry this was meant to be a reply, I'm trying to delete it :/

I have considered installing WoW on my machine just so I have a game or two when traveling. Looking at those settings gives me an idea of how I can configure my settings once installed.

Anyone know of a way to check fps in WoW? I don't see built in benchmarks like the Tomb Raider games in the App Store. I'm so excited to play this again. It's been around 10 years for me. A bit confused on whether to do classic or Warcraft Reforged though.

Also, do you think more memory and/or a larger ssd would make a difference at all performance wise? I just got my M2 Max MBP16 with 96 GB of memory and a 2 TB ssd a few days ago. Also just finally upgraded my internet to a 1200Mbps/1.2Gbps plan, and every speed test I've done far exceeds 1300/1.3

Anyways, sad that BootCamp is gone, but besides that unfortunate fact, so glad to hear that these Pros are good at gaming. Bought the Tomb Raider Bundle with Tomb, Shadow, and Rise, going to subscribe to WoW, plan on purchasing Resident Evil Village, and once I get my new SteelSeries controller in the mail from Apple, I'm going to get Apple Arcade, since it comes with 4 months for free.
