So... one day I was using my Powerbook on the couch, and my dog was right next to me. He's small (a miniature poodle, in fact.) I must have fallen asleep, because when I next looked at my laptop, my dog was sitting quietly on the keyboard with the lid open, contentedly licking the keyboard and screen.

I laughed so, so hard.

But, yeah, my worst Mac accident.

Back in the 9th or 10th grade, I spilled orange soda over my Powerbook G3.

I think I eventually got the computer to work again, but the monitor was screwed.

Good riddance

As my MacBook was going through TSA's atrocious procedures it fell off the conveyour belt and onto the floor. Needless to say I was pissed, luckily everything was ok.

While it's not really one of the "worst" accidents in this thread, I was a complete and utter moron one evening with my PowerBook G4 12". I had it connected to my 23" Cinema Display with an iSight on top... and a buddy of mine was videochatting with me and asked me what was in my ginormous coffee mug.

Like a complete doofus, I tipped the cup so that he could see inside (if he saw that it was brown, he would clearly see that it was coffee). Yeah, so as I tipped it, it started pouring all over my (opened) PowerBook keyboard. Thankfully, I read about a similar event online and knew to force shutdown, remove the battery and turn it upside down on a blanket for 24 hours.

After a day, I put the battery back in, turned it on and it worked perfectly. Hallelujah! :p

Needless to say, I'll never be doing anything that stupid ever again... haha :)

My bent superdrive area. :(

i saw many of those flatten mbp-cases.. how does this work?! is the case really so thin to deform it with your hands?

i have my mbp now since sept 06.. really hope that this never happen to me :(

Yeah it's easily bended. All I did is apply a little bit of pressure to snap the clips together, and it bended by couple of millimeters. I tried unbending it, it kind of worked, but still looks like crap... And my MBP is less than a year old. I hope Apple wont say anything about if I have to take it for repair in the future.

All of this sounds really bad, but I've got you all beat... my daughter's friend touched my screen. They didn't arrest me for assault, let me off with a warning, cause she got up pretty quick, and didn't press charges cause she respects her elders.

Just yesterday, I was all buckled up and ready to go on a trip to Boston (I'm from Southern CT) in my 2007 Corolla S. It was going to be a wonderful trip--see the girlfriend, go to Fenway, etc.

I had my bags in the trunk, and my MacBook on the front seat (so I could easily get to it when I hit a rest stop on the Mass Pike). For your information, not that it matters, my MB is a 1.83GHz white with 2GB RAM and 250GB HD.

I start driving down the road from my house towards i84. Roads were a little wet, as it'd been raining. I'm going around a curve that I drive on every day of my life, and the tires lose traction (FYI, the speed limit was 35. I was going 40 on the straight away, but was very very very heavily on the brakes on the curve).

I go straight on into a guardrail.

My head hits onto the crossbar (I'm sorry, I don't know what the real technical term is) in between the windshield and my drivers side window. My MacBook does the exact same on the other side. After hitting it, the MB flies across the car and ends up on the floor in the back seats.

As I sat there in the seconds after the crash, the following things crossed my mind.

1) I won't be seeing my girlfriend.
2) I won't be seeing the RedSox.
3) My car is wrecked.
4) OH MY GOD, MY MACBOOK IS DEAD.

Thankfully, the MacBook is still alive with no damage what-so-ever. Who knew that they made these things bullet proof?

How bad is the damage to the car? Glad to hear youre okay, despite a-pillar-head-thumping. Are your tires worn? When losing traction in wet conditions its best not to lay hard on the brakes, despite what your natural instincts may be.

Thanks for the concern--I'm doing just fine. My back is hurt a little bit, and I had a light concussion, but it could have been a lot worse. Thankfully, right before the guardrail there is a curb with dirt/grass that sort of kept the car from rebounding right off of the rail and shooting across the street.

I realize now that it probably wasn't brilliant hitting the brakes like that... live and learn, I guess.

As for the car, it looks like I'll need a new fender, bumper, headlight, fog lamp, and two new tires. A decent amount of damage. To be honest, it isn't so much the money as it is the fact that I'll have to wait nearly 3 weeks for my car to get fixed. Woof.

Well, I can't post pictures, because the only real damage is a chip out of the plastic right above my USB port (the one closest to you). Anyways, I'm not sure if this qualifies as an accident, as it wasn't an accident, but it was an on-purpose maneuver that was done on accident with the Macbook in my hands.

So, before I got my Macbook, I used my locker at school every day, and every day, I'd take my books and drop them straight on the floor (You guys know how it's done, just kind of throw them straight down and hear the loud SMACK on the floor). Well, one day, I was using my locker, because Mrs. Wells wouldn't let us have our backpacks in class (I carry my backpack with books/MB/mice/textbooks/papers/pencils/everything on my back all day at school), so I had to drop it off at the locker, but first, I obviously needed to get the books and my Macbook...Well, for whatever reason, I forgot my Macbook was in my hand with my books, and I couldn't get the bag in the locker, so...boom. The Macbook hits the floor, immediately followed by my books. Instantly, I go, "Oh my god..Are you ****ing kidding me," or something along those lines. I then proceeded to flip out a bit (not too much), and I checked it. It did this weird screen recalibration thing and ran kind of weird for like two days, then it was fine. Well, later, I realised that I had broken the CD drive...great. So I call Apple, to get a box (no, I didn't lie to them, as was insinuated in some other thread). I sent it in the box, and had it back the next day. :D Everything good as new. Except this chip, of course.

Anyways, just my addition. Certainly not the worst so far.
