So far I've received 1 suggestion from a friend which is that to attract a larger/wider audience the videos need to be a lot more... energetic/crazy - obviously I can ramp things up a bit but I don't want to be too intense and equally make things too silly that it wont be of interest to certain users
If you've got any advice, suggestions or requests then feel free to let me know
Your friend may like "energetic/crazy" but that does not mean that is needed to do good videos that people enjoy watching. The only crazy I watch sometimes is either Angry Joe or Yahtzee for laughs. Yahtzee for example does zero to showcase a game, little to really review it in any depth and mostly a comedy routine centering on one or more themes in which he hates the game, etc. This is funny stuff but not especially useful for trying to figure out if I would enjoy playing something versus watching something serious that simply shows off the game and talks about it. In my opinion, The Cynical Brit which is neither energetic or crazy is the best of these three by a good margin for detailed info that is actually useful. Better still, I like Kevin Van Ord's video reviews on Gamespot which are nearly always a simple, serious review of a game.
There is lots of places to see reviews but not so many where you can see games, especially Mac games, showcased and just talked about as someone demonstrates them. Flash is fun sometimes but it is really much more about substance if something like this is going to be useful to people. Trying to force comedy or flash when that really isn't your style probably would not go so well. I think you do just fine being yourself personally. I thought the 2nd Borderlands 2 and the Dota 2 videos were good. I enjoyed watching them and look forward to more.
I also think that with the experience of creating each new video you make that you will settle into your own style, become more comfortable doing the commentary and gain more self-confidence in doing this. You're certainly off to a great start.
