I'd buy one for sure. I'd absolutely love a mini with 256gb storage and Pencil support. The size is perfect for taking it in my purse and would make an excellent note taking device for meetings.

On that note I'd love a pencil with some of the W1 magic built in so I could then theoretically switch it more easily between that and my iPad Pro.

Great side point - I didn't realize that I would have to choose between iPad Pros with my Apple Pencil; I mistakenly assumed it would work with both interchangeably without having to choose one or the other.

It's an excellent device, I would absolutely be interested in a Pro.

4GB ram, Pencil, A10X, 64GB minimum storage, yasssss!

But... Seeing as Apple has downgraded their 9.7 model in 2017 I'm not very hopeful for anything small + Pro :(

Let's not forget about the screen improvements, quad speaker setup, etc. Using my Mini 4 after experiencing the refresh rates on the 10.5 is an eye opener. And split screen on the Mini 4 functions the same as non-12.9 iPads, which is nice.

I love the Mini form factor - if they produced a Mini Pro I would buy it in a heartbeat.
It could be hard to fit all the iPP features in there which is why its probably more likely to receive the 2017 iPad treatment

Essentially what they did with the iPad Pro 10.5 - having to use iPhone-formatted apps in 50/50 split view is a shame to me.

I was surprised the mini might get dropped, its a fantastic device. A mini pro might be overkill, but could definitely be a good entry option, especially for portability.

I'm supposed it would be dropped…. just a few weeks after sales report confirmed that the iPad Mini is the best selling iPad model.

(p.s. best selling as in number of units, not profitability. It's obvious the BIG iPad Pros are much more profitable for Apple)

Good points about split screen (I was thinking screen size and how effective / workable a split screen could be on a display this small).

My Mini 2 is showing its age rapidly with much faster battery declines. I doubt I will get another iPad when it finally bites the dust because I love the size (even though I also have a plus sized phone). I don't want a big iPad. If they made a Mini Pro, well, that I *would* buy.

I don't think I'd use the pencil or keyboard with a new iPad mini. I might buy one anyways, just for the other improvements.

No market for ipad mini pro

But there is a market for a new ipad mini! Just iPad mini with pencil support, maybe a smaller pencil that is convenient for note taking.

It doesnt need pro added, it already does what it needs to do besides the apple pencil support

I think the Mini 4 is the last one. With the iPhone screen increasing its gonna become pretty redundant.

I see this argument a lot, and it never makes any sense to me, to be honest. If Apple followed that logic across the board, there'd be no reason to have a 10.5" iPad when a 12.9" exists. The iPhone Plus is almost as different in size from the Mini as the two Pros are from each other. Same goes for the regular iPhone and the Plus. Besides, iPhones are purely cellular devices that require cellular connections. iPads aren't. Larger-screened iPhones are really quite different than the minis.

Maybe but it seems like the Plus size phones are eating up the mini and apple sees the sales figures.

Of course, a Mini Pro would likely be priced higher than the current (non-Pro) Mini 4. But the price increase is acceptable to me, so long as the (theoretical) Mini Pro includes most (but probably not all) of the iPad Pro-exclusive features.

I"m tired of the mini being second class. Apple, just charge the same price as the 9.7" and put out a full spec Mini Pro. I'd buy it. And you won't have to get your panties in a bunch over the profit margins.

I don't think it's about margins. Except for the holiday season when older models sell really well in fire sales, the minis just aren't a big seller any more. It's not that the iPhone Plus is as big as a mini but it's big enough where people are choosing that instead as a more pocketable device.

I've seen more than one analyst now say that the decline in mini sales is the main cause of the overall drop in iPad sales and that the bigger sizes have remained stable or may even be on a slight growth pattern again.

Would stay awake or wake up at 3am to order online for this. TAKE MY $$$$ TIM! I don't want a larger tablet so I won't be buying anything from the current lineup. I love the Mini size and would welcome updaded specs + use of the pencil.

More I think about it, more I'd love a Mini Pro and Mini Pencil for my commutes. Give me ProMotion, a nice screen and pencil capabilities and I'm there.
I find this all the more persuasive since Apple decided to treat split view the same on the 10.5 as they do with the Mini (e.g., 80/20 is one full app, one iPhone -- 50/50 is two iPhone apps).

What's the point? Too small for the pencil, for multitasking, and for a physical keyboard. An updated iPad Mini, sure, but not a Mini Pro.

Your opinion is much appreciated, thanks for sharing!

Personally, I use multitasking often on my Mini 4, and I would love to have Pencil support for handwritten notes. Along with the increased refresh rate and quad speakers? I can see a few "points."
