I think the price is ok only if the new iphone has real innovations, if just super minor changes and another new color. . . this giant company will be done in future
Same thing with OnePlus/Oppo. They simply matching up specs from top tier OEMs and sell them for less. They might look "cheaper" compared to Apple, but in the Chinese market, they are overpriced for the hardware. And unlike Xiaomi who actually is innovating (making their own chip, the Mi Mix, etc), OnePlus doesn't actually do anything other than selling off-the-shelves components for less than the big boys. Not saying they are bad (I own the OnePlus One), but if you want to put money on innovative company, Xiaomi is the logical choice, and their phones are cheaper than OnePlus.

Only around 1/3 of the next iphone price...which one would you choose? By the way OnePlus5 price in China is cheaper then the global version for the same phone and it would be around $333 US dollars.

We don't get the option to pay $333 as we have taxes and such.

Realistically the OP5 will be $450-500 / €479-529

Most people generally get their phone subsidised / paid over their contract period rather than outright, so the price difference for the majority of customers makes no difference as the OP5 simply will not be available on carriers or subsidised so may represent a greater initial outlay for the device than the iPhone 8.

If you want iOS then it does not matter how much value the OP5 offers.

I get what you're asking and why but honestly it makes no difference. If you prefer Apple, you're willing to pay that premium. Sh*t, there are people who prefer Samsung :)::raises hand:::) and its premium version of Android to OnePlus's. So price plays a role only if it plays a role, i.e. people buy what they feel comfortable spending.

I'd buy neither. With options like $200 G5 plus, LG Stylo 3 $179 and Zmaxx Pro $99.
I believe manufactures have done a great job of marketing and have people convinced they need top dollar devices.

Where did you get this $333 price for the OP5 ? Rumors are it will be $650 with flagship specs better than the S8+ hardware.

Apples and oranges, but if you don't use your iPhone as a smartphone, just switch.
Just be prepared for no support, depending on where you live. Xiaomi only has official presence in few Asian countries. If your phone is a lemon, you might have to suck it up. Oh and if you import your phone, you have to be comfortable in flashing your phone with a Global ROM (if it's available for the model) or side load Google Play. Pretty much all importers of Xiaomi phones put some crapware filled ROM, so you need to re-flash it to the official ROM first.
Other than that, it's a better buy than pretty much all other Android phones out there.

And since when Apple has support? You can report a bug and it can take months and months "if" they ever fix it.

Yeah perhaps i will go Motorola instead who knows...

It would be still in cheap range especially in china, china version of the exact same phone is always cheaper since there are too many competitors in china.

Your prices are combined with contract for sure

Two factors are different:
Oneplus can flash rom with warranty cover
Xiaomi brand name gives people a very cheap feeling, while oneplus is more like a tech nerd image phone. I feel better with oneplus branding.

You can get one in grey market I guess. The price in china is cheaper and I can get one.

Amd the worst part of Xiaomi is they dont k ow how to deal with camera software part at all. Xiaomi 5s used the best sony sensor at that moment but Xiaomi somehow can make the phone making horrible photos. I owned mi3 before and honestly the build quality was very cheap and everything like the monitor quality was bad, the rom was stable and that was the only good thing about it.

Xiaomi allows unlocked bootloader as well.
Have you seen the Mi 6? Mi Mix? Xiaomi is innovative. OnePlus One was great, but after that OnePlus is not doing anything new. If you like wasting money on overpriced phone, good for you.

Mi3 is like how old? And you call yourself a tech nerd? Haha, such embarrassment. Xiaomi has innovated a lot since then. The Mi 6 is not only cheaper than onePlus 3T, it is beautiful and very durable.
Again, if you want to waste money on overpriced phones, it's your call.

Paid £439 for my midnight black OP3T, I love the phone for the price, it's fantastic. No idea what my next phone will be though, depends how good the OP5 and iPhone 8 will be and if their prices reflect that.

I find that while One Plus tries to check all the boxes on paper, you put it all together and it still comes across as a blah product.

Their design, presentation and software just lacks the sizzle of a flagship Samsung or iPhone.

Then there is the support network and ease of availability. One Plus fails in this area massively.

Even if I were financially hampered tomorrow I'd probably just go iPhone and go longer between upgrades before considering One Plus.

Would you buy a new MacBook Pro or a $250 Asus laptop?

A lot of smart consumers are turning inexpensive Thinkpads into hackintoshes to run Xcode. Here's one that cost him $45.

I love my S8, but the fact I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it makes me enthusiastic about it. Considering I paid $235 (before counting selling my old Nexus 5X) for the S7, it makes holding off on buying phones until much later on just more valuable. If I hold onto my S8 for a few more months, I might end up paying like $180 for 5 months of use plus get a free Gear VR to boot. That's value. My S7 could be my daily driver again while I wait for a free trade in offer. I waited to get my iPhone SE for practically nothing at $155 too.

However, I have to agree with @vikingjunior's comment from a few days ago. The Moto G5 is hands down one of the best value devices out there. It doesn't have clunky software like Huawei. Sure, the G5 won't get frequent updates and Moto/Lenovo are getting sued for breach of warranty/contract issues. However, you get a 1080p display, 4gb RAM, Snapdragon 625 processor, NFC, quick charge, a fingerprint sensor, a capable camera, SD card support, splash proofing.

If you want a flagship, you have ZTE and OnePlus to look at. If you want iOS, you can get the SE at a smaller size or a 2016 model without spending ridiculous sums of $ once the 2017 models come out.

And to answer @sk1wbw's question? Depends on the specs of the ASUS Laptop tbh. Prices for the MBP also factor in too. Windows 10 is good enough to where OS X is more a taste preference than saying OS X is just head and shoulders better. I am not planning to re-up with a MBP as a next laptop. By the time I move on, I will just pay to replace the battery and use it as a 2nd unit or just give it to a family member.

The iPhone is better than the 3T but it is twice the price. I'd say that I use my iPhone a good deal more but like my androids as beaters/replacements.

The difference in pricing tells you a lot about the devices themselves. The iPhone is expensive because Apple knows it's a popular device, it's a device of value to people. That's demand, demand means you raise your prices. The OnePlus is cheap because sales are much lower than iPhone, and you lower your prices if you have more supply than demand.

Economics. :)

You can try getting one of those China flag ship phones at launch and see how easy you can get it.
