There are mid range smartphones in the 650usd range that can do everything the 1000usd plus phones can do, i think a 1500 smartphone is a stupid purchase.

And that’s a big part of it. Is that a good portion of consumers will continue to use their current phone until it’s no longer functional or needs a battery replacement, etc. They just find that their phone does everything they need it to, unless they are more tech oriented or Apple enthusiasts where they desire the latest devices.

I generally like to have the latest devices every year, but even I’m to the point where it certainly is *not* a necessity for me, but more of a ‘want’.

I wouldn’t personally buy an iPhone X Plus as I dislike phablet phones and don’t need to spend a grand and a half on a device to impress my mates.

I can’t imagine many people will drop that sort of money on an iPhone when you will be able to get an 8 Plus at half that price by then too. It’ll be rarer than the X at that price, madness.

Wouldn't buy if it cost $500 - my X is fine and will last at least another year if not longer.

i was dumb and paid $1150 for the iphoneX though i got in the buy two phones and get $700 discount. So effectively, the iphone x was 750. i should have just gotten the 64gb version. i used to put a lot of content on my android and was scared of space. i also keep my phones for awhile though.

700 discount sounds like you made an excellent decision!

Considering I feel $999 and $1149 is already too much, no I wouldn’t pay $1500. I used to upgrade every year at around $700 but with the release of the X it allowed me to “wake up” and see just how much I was spending on phones. I’ll keep my current iPhone (7+) until it no longer works or I feel the desire to switch devices. I’m also now more interested in looking outside Apple if I deem another device will work better for me.

From a work perspective I’d rather put more money into a better desk setup and from an entertainment perspective I’d rather put more money into a better tv. The days of me spending more on a phone are over.

That's how I was up until I got my 6. Then I was disappointed that the 7 wasn't a design change and held out. Then they raised the price on the 8 and X and I realized I don't need any of that.

I'll probably replace my 6 now this fall, but I got a good 4 years out of it which is twice as long as I kept any other phone.

If my boys phone hadn't died, I would still be using my 6s. But his 5 died so gave him my 6S and bought an 8. Don't see me buying another phone for at LEAST 2 years.

I suspect many X owners will be Retain their device, mainly because how expensive it was and they _may_ not find the 2018 X features compelling enough to warrant an upgrade, especially being it will share the same form factor.

So this is that I think apple will do. They will get rid of the 6s & 6s +, move the 7&7+ to where the 6s&6s+ are currently price wise. They will reduce the price of the 8&8+ to the same price as the 7&7+ currently. They will move the price of the 2nd Gen iPhone X to the same price as a 8 & price the X Plus at the same price as the current X. This would make the most sense but I am just taking a wild guess.

With the discontinuation of the first GEN iPhone X, I suspect the 5.8 iPhone X to be priced approximately at $899 and 6.5 X Plus to be at $999. If there was one reliable rumor that I have read to believe this year, I do believe Apple will reduce the price and usually when hardware matures with the introduction of new technology, it _usually_ does drop in price.

Do you think the 5.8 iPhone X will start at the same price as the iPhone 8 ?

Just estimating, I think the 6.1 LCD iPhone will be priced at $750 for the base storage, the 2018 iPhone X at $899 for the base storage. But no, I don’t believe the iPhone 8 will be priced the same as the 2018 iPhone X at $899, that seems to high and Apple will have it priced lower.

Would apple just drop the LCD iPhone, since they want to expand their OLED Lineup and they can do that by cutting costs and maybe charging a small increase. That way they can still be close to the prices of the iPhone 8, so that they can make more sales. Because if they did make a LCD Model would it even have the similar specs to the 2nd gen X ?

Not bad :)

Sounds about right.

I wonder if Apple will get into the LCD business. Seems like this would solve some problems they are having. It worked very well will the CPUs. Then again, I haven't clue about what this would entail exactly.

$1150 should be the max.

I would not buy an $1150 for $1500.

There are plenty of people, many on this forum, that will buy whatever phone Apple produces at whatever price and then self justify the decision

What more justification does anyone need than "Because I want it."

I got an iPhone X and iPhone 8+ for the wife and I last year. Both were pretty pricey, and I wont ever pay that much again.

More than that, absolutely not.

Ya I hope my guess is right, but it seems to be line with what apple usually does and if rumors are true and that apple is trying to drop prices on the X. Since its probably the case that apple wont be increasing the prices for the 2018 iPhones.

People will be happy with their X until at least 2020 or so. In 2020 it’ll be like the 6s is today - older tech but still functional and very affordable.

I think most consumers tend to upgrade their phones around the two year cycle Mark once their phone has been paid off with their carrier, assuming they financed it. So the next leap for consumers to upgrade would be around 2019, which I assume by then a similar form factor with the iPhone X will debut, but with a triple lens camera, Face ID should see significant improvements, and perhaps micro LED display, but I doubt that will be ready by then.

Another thing to remember for people who are going to upgrade this year is that the X came out last year in November so most people who using carrier financing/device payments are going to be 2 payments out before they can turn in their phone to their carrier to upgrade. I wonder how it will work out this year ?

Good question. I usually have my iPhones paid in full, but some carriers require the device to be 50% paid before they are permitted to ugrade again.

Plus what if one is on the iUP Program the iPhone Upgrade Program doesn't it also require you to pay 50% before you upgrade ?
