My post is worded fine. If you read my previous post I mentioned that some people might not have an email address. If I want to send an MMS to an iPhone user who doesn't have an email address then before it was tough luck.

An iPhone user who does not have an email address - should not have an iPhone...

^^ I added a fourth reason.

Not everybody uses yahoo you know!

And I know people who don't have email or have email but do not check it for days on end! Why email when you have a phone? :D

Yes... Call them up and describe them the .zip file that you have. :D Or the spreadsheet. Or the powerpoint, or the .deb files, or the dmg... etc... I could go on... :p

There's a place for email in this world as should be evident by the fact that nearly everyone has one. They are free... Tell your friends to get with the times! :D What IS un-necessary is that I have 9... I only regularly check 5 though. ;) The others are old ones that are just full of SPAM.

Also, I never said that the MMS gateways is the be all end all solution to MMS. I just said it works and is feasible. I even said that MMS is a better solution to have it native. :D

Also... I don't use Yahoo... I use Gmail, I just have Yahoo for push messaging. SomeonesiPhone@ymail.com will do just fine for a dedicated email for instant notification on your phone. Exactly what I do. In fact, my GF has a blackberry so we just send emails back and forth still because it doesn't subtract from my 200 messages plan.

Gmail does push now!

I was thinking more for social reasons. Email has an undeniable place in the workplace but I could quite easily get by without email for my social life.

And I don't consider the gateway workaround feasible: -

1. Not everyone has an MMS gateway.
2. I'm not going to get all of my contacts to send me an MMS so I can get their gateway.
3. What if my contacts decide to change network? I would then need to hunt them down for their new gateway.

In other words it FAILS :p

Nope... It's a WORKAROUND. Not a replacement. I never even claimed that YOU should not use MMS and use the email gateways. Just like some people don't like the official MMS solution, with is file size and type limitations as well as extra fees, some people don't like the email solution.

So it does not "Fail". Plenty of people use it. You're just as bad as the OP saying that it's a failure because you don't want to use it.

Well, you are wrong :) What about the 30% of the population of the US that don't even own a computer? :D

Haha... Well they probably don't have iPhones either!! :D

Did you realize that you can turn off MMS in Settings? It's not hard to do.

Like others have said… if you don't want to use it… don't. What's the big deal?

This coming from the same person that said he was quitting the iPhone 10 times now and has been saying bye ever since. Ironic :p

You know what, honestly were all tired of this. Stop posting **** topics like this discussing why MMS is a waste of time and how about you do something that is not time wasting? How about you make a completly new phone that can be a challenge for the iphone. Stop posting these because there pointless and all around stupid you should be banned for trolling.

I agree. Go build a better phone that rivals the iPhone and then come back and complain. Until then - zip the lips! :D

Pointless post! ;)

So can it be assumed that all the people saying MMS is such a waste of time and resource, you do no had a text plan attached to your phone. Because after all you could be using email.

True for me. :D Until I just signed up for 200 Message/Mo plan. Still use email for both SMS and MMS most of the time so I don't go over. People message me via SMS/MMS and then I respond with emails. So then they can reply to that. This way, if someone doesn't know my email address they can still initiate a convo with me.

I only have to pay $5/mo for the 200 plan rather than $20/mo for unlimited!!!

No. I have unlimited family txt plan. $30 a month. The reason MMS is a joke is have you seen the quality of the video? It's useless by any standard. You pay for a data plan - use it. Upload to youtube, flickr or email it. Anything is better than the MMS video.

Pictures on the other hand are not bad at all. They are not as big so they don't compress that much. Its decent.

Just when I thought that there was nothing else for anyone to complain about regarding MMS...

I thought the same thing. For Months we heard everyone complaining about the lack of MMS, and it's on the most basic phones, why can't we have it? Then we get it, and people say what a waste of time it is...lol...

You can't please everyone.

Why have a text plan just use email.

not everyone is paying for a data plan. Not all of my friends have a smart phone. Sure the video quality may sick but its can be sent to damn near anyone, including iphone users, over MMS.

you know the funny thing is, iphone users have MMS now. so I dont have to worry about this crap any more
Hi Mike What cell service you with I want to send you something

Hey dd you get that picture? Really, damn it was funny. Wonder why you didn't get it? Oh you're not longer with Sprint?

Oh you didn't get it, are you a new ATT customer or an Old Cingular customer? Is that number an old cingular number? Are you sure?
I know my friends carry this information around with them all the time.

I still haven't been able to find a reason to use it when email is superior in every way (larger image sizes, free when you don't have unlimited texting, etc). I wish Apple/ATT would have spent that time and resources on more important/useful features.

I agree! Matter of fact, SMS is also a resource hog and should be discontinued when EVERYONE can get emails on their phones right.

I don't see the point of email, I use MMS and SMS for everything. I think Apple has wasted far too much time with email crap. Besides, it's SO 1988 and they can't even get business security right. What loser uses email when so many other technologies exist? No having to set up servers and usernames and all that slop, just start the app and go. Get with the program!
