Reasons...

Guys, i get the feeling that Apple was looking for people 15+, coz they are close to getting a job and are more mature in their development experience OR they have made complex apps which are complex to code....
Anyways congratz to those who won and see you guys back to this post 1 year later :)

Can those who got in put a link to their apps so we can see the standard they were expecting?

Hey Everyone!

Congradulations to the winners :).

For the winners though, do you guys want to make a group or something so we can arrange a hang-out or get to know each other when it actually rolls around?

Cheers.

I doubt it has to do with age, I'm 22 and still didn't get it.

I think it was primarily for high school seniors and people in college. Even though my application was pretty good, I'm 14 (freshman) and didn't get it. Someone in college studying technology should go over me if they really are interested in Apple technology, so I would assume that Apple would choose them.

Hi all!

I also won the scholarship this year so I'll be headed to San Fran in June!

It may be a good idea to try to organize a meetup of scholarship winners one night, either for dinner or just to hang out with at the conference.

Also, I found this really great guide you might want to check out: http://www.fruitstandsoftware.com/blog/2010/06/wwdc-attendee-guide/

Anyone here planning on checking out Apple Campus while we're there? I feel a need to hit up the Company Store. :)

Hey, I'll make a Facebook group if that works for everyone. Go ahead and PM me your names and I'll get it going for easier communication.

I can't seem to do PM's since I am new to the forum. Can you post the link to the group and I will join?

Hey! Not expecting to win, I applied for the WWDC scholarship anyway. Well, my application got accepted and I won the 2012 WWDC student scholarship! For this being my first time at WWDC, I honestly don't know how my week will go.

The only thing that concerns me is what will everyone do at WWDC? I know all the exciting activities and workshops, but will everyone go alone? Or could we all group up or something?

And can't you just post the link to the FB group and make it private? That would be so much easier...

Looking forward to hearing back from y'all!

Hey, my name is Chris. You can easily find me on facebook as Chris Galzerano. If you make a facebook group for the scholarship winners, I'd like to be in it, so I can at least find people I sort of know (lol off a forum, but close enough) when at the conference.

Young developers Facebook group

I unfortunately didn't get the scholarship, along with a lot of others it seems.
I know one of the reasons I wanted to go was so that I could meet other high school developers, coz there aren't that many of us!
So I've made a Facebook group for all iOS developers aged 13-17 and we can discuss and share all things iOS related on there :)

Hi folks; the problem with making the group and posting a link to the thread was that Facebook groups have to be initially formed with at least two people (you and one of your friends), and I didn't have anyone on my friends list to invite. :)

Looks like dfmuir has it taken care of it though, so no worries.

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you soon!

It's all good! I've never really made a Facebook group before, so I wouldn't know!

Hi guys,
Anyone looking for a place to stay during WWDC? I booked 3 beds at SF Downtown hostel, which is only 10mins walk from Moscone West and only ~$30/night, really nice place (I've been there twice). Unfortunately, my friends can't come, hence 2 beds are free, interested?

Also, here's a Facebook group for WWDC 2012 attendees: http://www.facebook.com/groups/412423118779701/

Sorry for my delayed response, didn't find this forum until now :)

I am 13 and got in! I think that meetups are a great idea, because we can split up and go to different sessions, then share notes after.

I found some beginners guides to WWDC here: http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2012/05/wwdc-first-timers-guide-2012-edition.html, http://borkwarellc.wordpress.com/2011/03/28/borkwares-first-timers-guide-to-wwdc/

People use SubEthaEdit for collaborative note taking, and if you get the free trial now it will last through WWDC, so you don't have to pay until next year.

If you are organizing a Facebook group for Student Scholarship Winner Meetups, please add me (my name is Lenny Khazan).

I'm staying at Hotel Whitcomb (~6 blocks away).

I would like to get into the Keynote, and I hear you need to get in line really early, so I'm getting up at 4 (Luckily I live on the East Coast, so 3hr time difference makes it 7 my time) :).
