MP 7,1 XDR Display Rainbow effect?

Sometimes you have to make do with the environment you’re in. Have certainly seen designers working in rooms without perfectly attuned surroundings before, maybe op prefers being ale to use screen in a less than perfect environment than the realistic alternative of a sub optimal display.
Maybe a screen room divider like those used for changing clothes, possibly retractable, just to block the lights behind you as needed.
I’m not gonna to color grading on it, just need a HUGE screen with retina resolution that looks great in the living room as well
Match, match, and Match. Occasionally I’ll judge colors on it that have been delivered to me when I work as a director, and then I can turn off the lights, but in every day working scenarios I need a lot of real estate for after effects and premiere and the best IQ I can get without too much hazzle.[automerge]1579814700[/automerge]

Yeah, but for such surroundings you can get an optimal display for one third of the money. The quality of such a display as the XDR will not show in such non-optimal surroundings.
If one would have to choose between the two, I'd say from my experience that the surrounding lighting is more important than the quality of the display.

What exactly are these requirements?
If you own the small 5K displays you could always opt for the UP3218K.
You probably can buy a house somewhere for the cost of these monitors. Haha

Why does it make zero sense in your opinion?
4K HiDPI looks awesome on it. Great when working with large projects in both Illustrator and Photoshop.
To me, UI would simply be too small. I think what Apple did was perfect, take the screen estate / resolution relation of a 1440p 5k Display and just extend the available real estate to 32“, and you end up with 6k, not 8! It‘s the same folks at Dell that developed 27“ 4k displays, god knows what we‘re supposed to do with such devices. Use a magnifying glass?

... set the display scaling to the UI size that you want. Dell 27" 4K are our standard monitors - and the people with Apples just tell the system that it's a retina display.
Been there, done that, not acceptable results, I had two of those displays here for a week and had to send them back because I couldn‘t stand how washed out fonts looked on those 4k displays at an uneven HiDPI scaling. There‘s a reason the iMac is 5k and not 4k.
Actually this is part of the reason why I‘m contemplating my decision to go with the nano display, because fonts just look so much less crisp on it compared to the glossy one... Sigh I guess I‘ll just wait For it to be delivered because I need to see how it looks in my own environment.
The 1440p HiDPI resolution of the 5K 27" display is simply too cramped for my usage and just feels tiny compared to the Dell UP3218K.
I can't think of a single use case where I would want less pixels.
I've seen the XDR at an Apple Store and it did not have backlight bleed. All lights in my studio have dimmers so that an editor can easily reduce the brightness in a room if necessary. It's a cheap fix for glare. One bulb is low watt red - as one editor prefers that. Before you buy an XDR glossy - check out all light sources in the immediate environment before you buy. If you have a spotlight directly in front of the XDR location - think twice about spending 5K.

Exactly. I also noticed the background bleed for the first time when I took this pic but I agree, it’s pretty insane, so I think the XDR will be a nice upgrade.
