So disappointed, they expect you to pay extra to use this app if you already have an XM/Sirius subscription. You don't pay extra to listen online, so why for this app?

Ugh

Yes, you do have to pay extra to listen online. I didn't have online XM access till I signed up for the internet access and we have 4 XM subs.

There are already several threads on this already just so you know.

I only listen to Tiffany Granath on Playboy, and and Octane, so this app is perfect for me.

I let my old subscription on my two Sportster 5's lapse since I could not justify paying the monthly cost for two stations. $2.99 is much more reasonable.

App is working fine for me, except the occasional buffer on Edge. Doesn't look that ugly either once the station artwork fills the screen.

I also have gotten 'Fail To Connect' once or twice but no biggie. I would like to see the text showing what song is playing be a little bigger and scroll like it does on my sportster 5

And with backgrounder, this app is pretty cool. I just run it in the background while I'm doing other crap.

I never had to pay to listen online, and still don't only have to pay if I want there premium so I can listen on my iPhone.

You don't have to pay extra for Sirius online. Only if you want the premium internet radio.

Wait a second, this is a completely different subscription than if you have an account already for in your car?

its an extra 2.99 for the internet stream. They did away with the free internet stream for subscribers.

Yeah, back in March they did away with the free online accounts. So, if you wanted to listen at all online (legally) then you had to upgrade to the 128k stream for 2.99 per account. Keep in mind, your bit rate will vary based on your connection so you may not actually get to enjoy CD quality sound in the car if you're planning on replacing a radio.

Additionally, my wife and I tried to use the same account for test purposes. While you can both be logged in, once you actually start the stream you'll get a message saying "you are logged in elsewhere". The late person won't be able to play music. There is also nowhere that I can see to log out and change account info so you have to delete the app and re-install if you actually end up getting your own log in.

Not a bad app at all aside from no Howard.. and that's a major omission IMO.

Love Sirius / Xm App

I LOVE this app and could care less about Howard Stern not being on it. I don't listen to that pompous windbag anyway.

What I do love to listen to, Derek and Romaine and Michealangelo Signoureli - both on Sirius OutQ are on it so I am very happy about that. Now I can listen to these shows outside of the car and away from the computer. :D

I'm highly disappointed with this app. Here i have been waiting for them to put this out for the sole reason to listen to Howard Stern, and then they exclude his channel from it. What a joke!

Pocket Tunes is great WHEN it works. I still have trouble logging in and have not even bothered trying lately.

This app is only as good as its programming and if i'm paying extra to listen to Howard in my car and at home, i should have the luxury of listening to him on the go with this. This is the reason why satellite radio is doomed. Its unfortunate but its true. SiriusXM you guys need to get your act together.

You gotta complain. I just left a email on the sirius website. If you get a chance leave one. Just like AT&T heard people complain about the upgrade pricing, they need to hear our STERN channel complaints.

If you read through this thread, I explained how to use the pockettunes app so that tehre are NO issues at all with it.. Which means that you dont need the sirius app.. Just pockettunes.

Basically, with pockettunes, the issue with logging in is when you click the GO button in your keypad.. instead of clicking DONE and then the LOGIN button on the web app.. THAT is the best way to login.

Also, the issue with the app rebuffering.. if you are in the web side, once you get the music streaming, you can go over to the NOW PLAYING and click on the channel that is playing, which will make it rebuffer and then it will play for HOURS with no issues.

Hey this is cool. I'm listening to XM radio on my iPod (Touch) for free (for seven days that is.) No money, credit card number or anything (I did give my Email.) No Howard Stern (no biggie.)
Like how each station shows exactly what is playing.
Not sure I'd pay an extra $10 for another app just to listen to Stern.

You have to pay for an internet stream. And if you don't, then you're getting the crappy 64k stream that isn't worth listening too. The premium upgrade gives you 128k and the ability to access that 128k stream from you phone. Everyone b.tched forever about no satellite app, now its here and works WAY better than pocketunes (which i paid $10 for), but people still complain. Fck Stern, its 2009 people, he was barely funny 10yrs ago, now he's just pathetic. LOL @ all the pwned stern fans. :D

So I just read elsewhere that Howard is saying that the reason he is not being heard through this app is because it is a rights issue....

Translation: Sirius/XM won't pay him more money to be heard through the app.

I'm glad to hear that. What....five million isn't enough?

Actually it has something to do with their contract with OnDemand.

That used to be the case but not since March. If you don't pay the 2.99 for the streaming, you get NOTHING. That was the big deal back in March. There is no FREE listening anymore... at any bit rate.

Just got an email from Sirius... they are raising rates again.

Beginning on July 29, 2009, a “U.S. Music Royalty Fee” of $1.98/month* for primary subscriptions and $.97/month* for multi-receiver subscriptions will be effective upon your next renewal. This fee will be used directly to offset increased payments from SIRIUS XM to the recording industry.

That is going to bring my bill to almost $20 per month... (1 radio with online listening) I'm really starting to this it isn't worth it.

I've cut down from five radios between both services (one of them built-in car) to just three (we have three vehicles). I'm trying the Sirius app to see if it could replace another of my radios, but so far it doesn't seem worth it.

The royalty fee is basically profit for the record companies by any other name and will add several more dollars a month. Screw them - With Pandora and WunderRadio/Pocket Tunes, I'm considering dropping yet another radio.

The bad part is I don't even listen to music on Sirius... I only listen to their talk stuff. $20/month is not worth it for the 3 channels I listen to. My monthly fee has gone from around $13 to $18+ in the last couple of month with their rate hikes. Percentage wise, that is a huge increase. Didn't they have to promise their would be no rate increases for a few years to get their merger approved? They are just finding ways to disguise them.,
