I have an Xr... it is all well and good but I never did love the size. I have it in a bumper case but still find it to be a bit too large.

I would not go back to Touch ID though; I'll rather stick it out until I can get a refurb 11 Pro or something. I used to have an X and that size was perfect for me.

I bought an SE this morning for my daughter so I'll fondle it next Friday but I don't see using it as my device.

I would say moving from the XR to the SE isn't worth it. FaceID, the bigger screen w/ higher resolution, smaller bezels, better gesture based experience are worth keeping.

I think this new SE is more geared towards the compact phone market or holdovers from older generations that are more price conscience.

When you say the XR has better form factor, that’s not a common opinion. More people would prefer a slightly smaller device going by online comments.

Resolution makes a very small difference with the two really as they have identical ppi figures and you’d be hard to see any real difference in daily usage.

Face ID is preference, can't argue with bezels.

But they are both 326ppi, even though I think XR has a nicer quality panel contrast wise.

Better form factor is generally the smaller one, at least in hand even if not to the eyes.

Never understood why Apple loves 326 ppi so much. Sorry, mistyped. I meant to be the newest design w/ gestures, not the holding of the device. The SE is much easier to use in one hand.

Poll time ding ding ding
this is a question posed by those that don't know what to spend their money on and always think the "newest" products is the best

It’s also quite a bit cheaper.
huh?

you are assuming that one has neither the se or the xr. This post is asking about "upgrading" from the xr to the se.

how do you feel about losing FaceID? faceID is nice, especially with an Auto Unlock tweak I have (if there's no notifications, unlock to home screen as soon as it detects my face which is most often near instant) but I'm sick of mashing in my passcode when it fails at random times with a ton of sunlight, or sunglasses on, or especially laying in bed
Where can I find this tweak? Or is it a jailbreak thing?

Edit: you can ignore my post. I didn’t see you have already answered to the same question a few #’s ago.

Please, share some battery life experience compared to the 11 pro.

I'm going to assume you were trying to ask me for battery life experience :)

Though the difference in battery is noticeable, the battery life is fine for my usage.

Per day I use about five to six hours screen on time, mostly messaging apps, socials, and camera (no major computing or gaming). I unplug around 6AM and plug in before bed, around 12:15AM. So far I've made it through the day fine on both phones.

Where it's most noticeable is that the 11 Pro would end the day with between 20% and 40% remaining, the SE finishes closer to 10-20%. If it was closer to 40% I'd choose not to charge the 11 Pro overnight and instead charge the next day at noon (never got two full days). The SE I have to charge every night.

I've only had my device for a week, and my original plan was to hold onto XR until it gets closer to iPhone fall release time, but man... might be able to get $500 for my 128gig locally so might end up doing it.

Ive had the SE2 for a week now, and I really like it! Pretty sure its going to be my daily driver

I like having backup phones, but I have SE1 for that too and I hate to have a good phone laying around while it depreciates.. but maybe a couple months won't hurt anything. Idk.

thoughts?

My SE2 was delivered today. Got it all set up and put on a glass screen protector that I ordered off eBay when I ordered the phone. Of course it's got the awesome halo. I would have held off on buying a screen protector it I knew then what I found out after all the first day delivery people tried screen protectors. Oh well. Oh yeah, I'm coming from an iPhone 11. The only thing I'll probably miss is the battery life but to get it this small and light, you have to compromise.

Awesome halo

While looking for something else the other day I happened upon my iPhone 7 Apple leather case. Forgot I ever had it.

Hi all,

So I have the xr 256gb due for an upgrade in Dec 2020. However recently been looking more and more at the se.

First of all apart from the battery is the move to an se that much of a downgrade? I mean I wouldn’t mind going back to Touch ID and the smaller iPhone.

Here right now I am typing on my xr using both hands. I mean I can go back to one hand use right? Also xr without a case is so slippy. Those who have the se is it slippy in the hands like xr?

if I do get se I will just go for the cheapest 64gb. The way I see it is that I also have 2TB iCloud storage. So if I need to move things off the se I can always move and save it on iCloud Drive right?

I am also thinking of buying from amazon as they let you pay for the iPhone over 5 months. Not keen on a longer payment plan with Apple.

From what I understand the newer iPhones will arrive in sept. I mean I can wait till sept and see how the new iPhones are. But then they are OLED and I can’t use those iPhones. Even if I wait till sept will the se drop down much in price?

I guess I will notice a drop in battery usage but I always have my powerbank in my backpack with me and can charge the iPhone in car. Anyways decisions decisions for me here. I will keep the xr as a spare and maybe eventually sell it.

The XR has almost 3000mAh battery while the SE has less than 2000mAh battery. There's no way around it, the SE will have worse overall battery life than the XR. If you are used to the XR battery life, I guess prepare to have a powerbank with you.

iCloud is not like a simple cloud based hard drive. Look at your current XR and what do you use the storage most for. iCloud storage can offload your Photos if you use iCloud photos, but you cannot use it to do things like store your music. And you cannot run apps straight from iCloud. If you filled your current 256GB storage, then I would not downgrade to 64GB.

Personally, I'd say just stick with your current XR and then upgrade to the 12 if you must. The XR is still a great phone overall. Only get the SE if you can gain some money by selling the XR.

big no. once u get used to the bezel-less design of the new iPhones, you won't be able to go back to the outdated design of iPhone 8 (iPhone SE gen 2).

Voice memos is what is using up most of my storage. I can transfer voice memos to iCloud Drive and then delete the voice memo off my iPhone memory if I did decide to downgrade memory capacity on an iPhone. If I sell my xr I can get the se 64gb but still have to pay something towards the se. I am still thinking what to do. I mean I may wait till new iPhone arrives but then that may cause issues due to pwm.
