I like to contemplate my iPhone and the case hides its beauty. However I don't want to scratch it. Not only because it's expensive but that would also decrease its resale value. So probably I'll get an Apple silicone case, yes.

I never use cases, it should indeed be a crime to cover these designs up.
It should be a crime to make the back of phones of out glass, that will of course shatter when dropped, and cost a fortune to repair if you don't have AC+.

anyone who doesn't plan on putting even at least a minimal case on this $1100 phone, I'm praying for you!!!!!

I know! Because I keep my iPhones naked, I get AC+ to be covered just in case.

I kept my X naked since I got it in November, no cracks a and no damage. Sold it for a decent amount last week.

Not a chance because I’m not clumsy as hell like some people seem to be. The ONLY time I use a case is a battery case if I plan to be out for long periods of time without being near an outlet.
It has nothing to do with being clumsy. It also gives you better grip versus the slick glass of the current new iPhone's.

If that works for you, cool. I find the current iPhone's very slippery without a case. So not only am I protecting my phone, I'm actually making it easy to grip and use. A no brainer for me personally.

I use an Apple Leather case. It's pretty minimal and although I love the look of a naked iPhone, it is just too slippery for my liking. It also lets it lay flat on a table, when usually it would wobble because of the camera. I've dropped it multiple times (nothing to serious) and even without a screen protector my iPhone X is pretty much in mint condition.

I used to have drop proof cases plus screen protectors. I was scared of damaging the phone but hated how all the protection hid the beautiful design. I’d end up buying multiple cases and screen protectors trying to find a good combination of protection but still allow for appreciation.

Ultimately realized I was spending more on cases and screen protectors than I would have if I just bought AppleCare or insurance.

Last few years I’ve purchased AppleCare and use an Apple case just to prevent excessive wear and tear. I go without case occasionally so I can enjoy it more. Also, no screen protector. The minor scratches the screen gets from regular are only noticeable when looking for them under direct light.

I have dropped my phones a few times caseless but they survived reasonably well. I did crack the screen on my X after about the 3rd or 4th time dropping it (the thing really is slick). It’s the only time I actually used AppleCare. But that’s exactly why I paid for it!

I’ll do the same with the XS max. Probably not go caseless as much with it because it’ll likely be really drop prone.

seems like a crime to cover this thing up but it also costs a mortgage payment. are you cats putting it in a case and which one? can you still stuff it in your pocket with a case?

No case, no screen cover, nothing, nada. I'll be getting either Apple care or a carrier protection plan, so why bother? Resale values are not much more than what you get if you just trade it in after a year, and they don't care about small scratches or scuffs. My X has been naked since release date and is still pretty pristine. There is no experience like using a nice phone without any covers or cases on it to cheapen it up.

I put a case on it right away. Makes me nervous without one. I've dropped them getting out of my car. Lands on the hard surface, but I've yet to actually break one. Don't even want to imagine this without a case.

I rarely use a case with my similarly-sized 7 Plus, not because I'm trying to show it off (I'm not!), but rather because it is much thinner that way and creates a smaller pocket buldge.

Whatever you get, make sure to factor that into your cost consideration. If you use a case, you aren't just talking about $1500 for the phone itself!

This may actually be a good idea. Which ones do you get?

Casemate makes a nice one that stands up to 8ft drops & is still thin enough to support wireless charging! They have it w/ glitter inside the clear back too, if that’s your thing, lol.
I got a clear Speck Presidio a while ago too... it is rated for 10ft drops & also thin enough for wireless charging- a bit more pricey, but licensed “impactium” material from NFL, that they use in their pads to reduce impact shock.

I never put a case on my phones, I'm just careful with them. They do inevitably get very minor scratches but that's been it. I can't sell them as pristine/excellent condition but I still get more than enough back. I just love the hand-feel and slimness of holding a phone without a case.

As opposed to being concerned about the decrease in resale value I look at it the other way: I'm not about to pay all that money and then not have the ideal experience I truly want with the phone. (I do get insurance just in case I ever break my 10 year run of no serious phone damage)

I'm sure people get tired of hearing me say this, but:

I've never put a case on any iPhone, and I've had every flagship model since launch (including all the Plus sized models). I'm currently using a X, and I'll be ordering a 512GB Max tonight. No cases ever, and that includes the new Max when it shows up.

I have one pocket dedicated to my phone (front left). Nothing goes in that pocket other than my phone and my hand. Not even receipts -- this way I never have to make a judgement call. I don't set it on hard surfaces. That's it. I get full resale value at the end of the year because the phone still looks basically new ... usually newer than phones that have been in cases as cases have a tendency to develop a lot of extra micro-scratches on the phone due to grit that builds up in the case.

I will probably get one of the  Leather cases but I will use it sparingly because I prefer naked!

always put cases on my Iphones and have never had a scratch on them. I don't care if others know what phone I am using cause I am not that vain
Totally agree! I have used the Apple leather folio case with my X. I have loved that case. Protects both sides of the iPhone. I can put my driver's license and CC in it too. I am ordering the same case for my Max in Product Red. Pricey, but saves the expensive phone.

Going to order this
