Oh
This thread is hilarious. I wonder how many of you here realize that when you take a photo of your phone, the camera that you’re using to take the photos of your screens is applying its own white balance corrections to the image, so your photos are very likely not totally accurate in color.
yes, in person is even worst. But you can see a difference between screens in most of the pictures. That’s the idea.

I've had my 12P since launch day and it is well outside of the return period. I called Apple just now and told them that I have the yellow screen problem and that the display is flickering a dim green colour when displaying black.

They told me that "this is a very rare issue that we have not heard of and we are recommending that the device is brought in for repair".

This is the best option I have at the moment so I guess I just have to go with that. If it comes back still piss yellow and flickering, then they haven't fixed it.

Does this mean technically that they are accepting this to be a hardware defect?

I'm really curious to see other G0QDQ devices to see if Sal09 is a very lucky man, or they have actually improved the production. Anybody else has one?

I have given up now. They are not doing any more replacements for me and every single phone I've checked so far has the same tint with only small differences. Let's hope they just fix the raised blacks on low brightness in software at least.

Had a conversation with Apple Support through a call. They connected me to a Senior Advisor. And that Senior Advisor connected me to one of his Seniors. He told me that Apple is well aware of this issue and they are investigating the issue. He said that there are lot of reports coming from various sources regarding this yellow tint and Green flickering. And based on various reports, he confirmed me that it is surely not a Hardware issue and once the investigation is over, they will start working on a Software Update.

I asked him whether I can go to a service center for a repair. He said he doesn't recommend it since the service people would just return my phone stating that there is no hardware issue and will ask me to wait for a Software Update.

My iPhone'S 12 Pro display with TT on and off. Should I think it is a bad one?
Device S/N: DNPDD.....
Display S/N: G9P03.....

I had only screen flickering when displaying black videos in completely dark environment, but for me that seems to be fixed after latest iOS 14.3 beta 3.

I think that settles it for me. Going to return and wait until at least Jan/Feb to re-order.

Can't believe my iPhone 7 looks clearer than my iPhone 12 mini.
I have until January 20th to return my mini. and then at the limit I buy another one ... if I can at the weekend I go to compare mine with an exposed one and see if it is the same. if it is different from the ones on display .. I return it immediately .. I get a refund and I buy another one ... my 6s is clearly whiter than the mini ..

What it means is that either the people telling us "this is an issue that we have not heard of" are (knowingly or unknowingly) incorrect, or the people telling us "this is definitely an issue that we are aware of and investigating" are (knowingly or unknowingly) incorrect. No more, no less.

I’m going to quote myself here...:

Nobody on the internet will be able to tell anything from a picture of your phone by itself, because nobody knows the white balance setting of the camera you took the picture with. You need at least two screens in the same picture to compare them. But even then, nobody can say if one of them is warm or cool in absolute terms, only if one is warmer or cooler than the other.

That said, if it looks fine to you, why go on the internet in search of problems? Just enjoy your phone, if it looks good to you then perfect.

I am skeptical about a software solution for the yellow tint issue. It plagued the iPhone 11 Pro Max last year. I had to play the “Apple lottery” to settle on an acceptable display.

but if i return the mini ... and buy it back in 6 months ... are there any chances that the display is the same? or will they solve with new productions?

lol yeah and when you call back 6 months from now they’ll tell you the same thing, “we are still waiting for a software fix, should be out any day now “

For me after an attempt to exchange (because I’m not going to exaggerate I’m not going to have to make 5 changes ) I found the solution ...change brand:) and guess what now I have a pure black and a white as white as a white

Thanks, Apple, but it’s over between us

Today I returned my second 12mini screen was again yellow as piss with TT and NS off . With TT on it's orange 🤮I'll wait 1-2 months until the problem is officially resolved or there are no new displays on the market. This screen is **** not worth a single $🤮🤮🤮🤮

I want to return mine that i bought online but i want to be able to tell them why i'm returning it. But when doing a return online there is no place to explain what the issue is. So all these people returning iphone 12's online Apple won't realize they're being returned for defects and they just end up being resold to other customers..

I got my iPhone 12 Pro 256gb-Graphite a few days ago, serial starting in DNPDN. Comparing with my XS, my iPad Pro, and the Macbook I have at home, there was definitely a green tint to the screen. There's a lot of speculation in this thread and other internet forums and I was going back and forth about exchanging the 12P, so I decided to collect some data.

I used Duet Display on the 'Pixel Perfect' setting with my i1Display Studio/DisplayCal via the 'Verification' tab, after setting the spectral correction to RGB OLED family (Sony PVM-2541, Samsung Galaxy S7, Lenovo LEN 4140). I set both phones as close to 250 nits as I could.

The attached images show the measurement results. The basic color temperature measurements are ~6500K for the XS and ~6400K for the iPhone 12P, but temperature doesn't tell the whole story. The RGB gray values show that my XS has some extra red content, but my 12P has higher green levels. My XS is lot a less uniform, which could be a result of the differential aging of OLED pixels (blue ages faster than green, which ages faster than red).

Interestingly enough, this matches with this Youtuber's measurements. Anandtech found their 12P had high red levels, so I think the story that Apple has relaxed tolerances for this initial batch, given worldwide supply constraints, is fairly credible.

I think I'll play the screen lottery once, and if the exchanged one isn't satisfactory look for an AppleCare repair in the spring.

Guess this crap makes you sick huh?

Based on all these thousands of posts I am really torn on this. My screen isn’t horribly yellow, but it is warmer than past iphone screens, and it also has raised blacks and all that other nonsense. In general, when I look at my screen I get this general feeling of poor quality overall.

I’m probably going to swap it at some point, I just don’t know when.

I bought 12pm from a carrier so I can't return it anymore
I have no choice
I liked this company, but now I am very sad😭

Should still be able to return/exchange it if it's within 14 day or whatever it is in your country.

I thought dark mode would help mask it but in all honesty it makes it look worse that light mode. The yellow tint gives dark mode a sort of brown colour that looks terrible.

How was your replacement? I went through 2 12 Pro units with this issue, decided to switch to the Mini due to size and on my 2nd unit. All 4 have had this issue. Doubt I got 4 defective screens, just looking for one that isn’t too horrible noticeable. Was your replacement any better?
Sorry, only just noticed this! My replacement is perfect! Like, “best screen I’ve ever had in a smartphone” perfect. I guess it is just a bit of a lottery at the moment. ☹️

guys I gave up .. I called a thousand times to apple, I have been to different apple stores .. there is nothing to do all the screens tend to yellow .. I set color filters as in the photo and I no longer believe in a software miracle from apple ..
