I just turned tru tone on and my screen got noticeable colder right before my eyes. Like it actually looks good now. What the heck is happening.
Were you inside?I just turned tru tone on and my screen got noticeable colder right before my eyes. Like it actually looks good now. What the heck is happening.
Yeah I’m inside, right next to a giant window. It’s 1 pm here so it’s about as cold as natural light is gonna get. Were you inside?
How did you go about getting a replacement model? I’m far out of the return period for my 12 Pro, so when it comes to it I’d be looking for a replacement too. It seems there’s conflicting reports on this thread about people’s success with Apple allowing replacements. I don’t know whether that’s due to online vs in person enquiries, or whether it’s down to where you’re based in the world and consumer rights laws, warranties and the sort. Maybe it’s because Apple are holding off on replacements due to a software fix in the works for the separate green tint issue? Does AppleCare come into the picture? In your case, what made Apple accept the yellow tint issue as something that warranted a replacement, as for some others in this thread they didn’t acknowledge this as an issue? Would you be able to shed some light on these points, and the process you went through to achieve a replacement? I think it would be great to see people start posting their experiences and successes regarding replacements. For those of us who are out of our return periods, this would be useful. In my case, I’d probably try and wait it out until next year to be on the safe side, but I’ll still be looking out to see if the replacements are getting better and more consistent in the meantime.
You mean you still have a cold no yellow tint screen after reboot? Or the yellow tint came back after reboot?Yeah I’m inside, right next to a giant window. It’s 1 pm here so it’s about as cold as natural light is gonna get.
Rebooted and the behavior is still happening.

And guys do you all think its possible to fix this with software Update? Im sitting here comparing my Mini with my Iphone 7 5 years old phone and watching some Movies that are not HDR its clear as water that the 7 looks alot better than the Mini. Right now im 99% sure to Return my phone because i dont want it if there is no fix for that. I have until 20 january to return it for some reason, i just bought it yersturday maybe its because Christmass time the Return Policy period is longer.
Yes, my 12PM: GNNDP, G9Q0 (display), 46th week. The phone is on the way back to Netherlands.Anyone with week 46 production have the yellow/green tint issues?
Yeah i just noticed this too sometimes after turning TT of it does look good but then goes again to the yellow tint. There is definitely something going on with TT and the way it behaves. I’ve tried keeping TT on for the last 2 days and I’ve seen it look perfect sometimes and yellow others under the same conditions.
Yeah im probably will return it on Wednesday as Monday,Tuesday is festive.Everything bought between Nov 10 and Dec 25 have extended return policies until Jan 8.
I don’t think Apple will fix the yellow tint with a software update. If you aren’t satisfied with the phone and don’t plan on dealing with the tint for the foreseeable future, I’d return it ASAP.
100% agreed. I posted this a good few pages back about my Week 47 device.Week 47 is delivering some cracking screens. Had better half’s replacement 12 Pro delivered today.

Looks much better in person

I mean with True Tone on by a window, it’s still colder than with True Tone off, even after a reboot. You mean you still have a cold no yellow tint screen after reboot? Or the yellow tint came back after reboot?
Are you in the extended return window? I bought on launch day and so I’m not eligible for extended return. Wonder if I could ask for an express replacement anyways.I told Apple support in online chat that my screen had a green tint and that I wanted to do an express replacement. The warm color temperature doesn't bother me as much as the green tint. I don't have AppleCare+ and had to pay $29. Then, while I was waiting on that replacement, the touch screen happened to completely stop working on my original 12 Pro Max, so I did a swap in an Apple retail store for that issue. The replacement arrived, but I ended up sending it back because I slightly preferred the replacement I received at the Apple Store, although both replacements were very similar and were made in the same factory on the same week. Both replacements had a lot less green tint than my original, which was my biggest issue.
Having a tough time seeing a major diff between these two. Maybe it’s more apparent in person. Both look good to me in the pic.100% agreed. I posted this a good few pages back about my Week 47 device.

I’ve won the screen lotto, finally. New iPhone 12PM PB received today from a major UK Retailer - Build Week 47 (16th - 22nd Nov) - G6TDQ
I’ve won the screen lotto, finally. New iPhone 12PM PB received today from a major UK Retailer - Build Week 47 (16th - 22nd Nov) - G6TDQ
This device:
- has white whites
- no pink, green hues or green colour shift on tilt
- a fully even screen - no pink in the corners/sides
- True Tone doesn’t look pi** yellow and is subtle when on
- blacks are ink black and images pop more
- no gaps between screen and bezel - testing with the Apple logo sticker
- no green/grey screen on boot in a dark room
- no flickering when watching a black screen YouTube video at 25%> brightness - the screen turns completely off
This one is a keeper and I’m done now. There are good screens out there but there are more bad than good.
Left is the bad screen and right is the keeper. Good luck to people still going through the motions.
I see, so it was for the green tint issue. For your online enquiry, do you recall the date you made it? I’m wondering if it was around/ before this macrumors article was published (~18th November): https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ma...e-investigating-iphone-12-display-issues/amp/I told Apple support in online chat that my screen had a green tint and that I wanted to do an express replacement. The left hand side device had a slightly pink hue and a yellow blotch on the bottom left - the pink hue made it ever so slightly less white but probably only noticeable in person. Look how good the right one (my current device) looks with TT on. It has none of the mentioned issues and is Week 47. My previous devices all <week 47 devices had a range of issues mentioned on my list. The device on the right has white whites and the colours pop much better then my previous devices.Having a tough time seeing a major diff between these two. Maybe it’s more apparent in person. Both look good to me in the pic.
Wow, you were lucky. Enjoy!100% agreed. I posted this a good few pages back about my Week 47 device.

Look at the side by side Google photo, there’s a slight pink hue and the off axis uneven blotch was very noticeable in all scenarios. It was still pretty white. But my device on the right (current device) is flawless and TT doesn’t look P*** yellow when on.for what a picture’s worths, they look nearly identical to me.
the left is uneven in the off axis, nothing else.
If sunlight hits the sensor it should turn cooler.Yeah I’m inside, right next to a giant window. It’s 1 pm here so it’s about as cold as natural light is gonna get.
Rebooted and the behavior is still happening.
Thank you, I did the same today. Will try to find a week 47 or later and hope for the best.Yes, my 12PM: GNNDP, G9Q0 (display), 46th week. The phone is on the way back to Netherlands.
Edit: I hope I’ll wake up soon, this is really a bad joke.
Is the camera correcting the whitepoint because the one on the left looks very close the other one and does't look "piss" yellow?100% agreed. I posted this a good few pages back about my Week 47 device.
