iPhone this year really stressful and exhaust. where are going to enter 2021, a firm like Apple can't find till this day a good company to make panels look great, what a shame.
I can't understand is it so hard to calibrate the panels. Why should the white look yellowish and gray slightly look greenish why
Think less finding companies vs not paying for quality. Engineered to the penny for maximum profit.

Hi,
Thanks. Since discovering this I’ve read a lot on this topic, it’s clear it’s an issue with the technology.

However, I did notice that my screen - with slightly better whites and not too bad colour shifting - is more badly affected by the black smearing than other ones I saw, which I noticed had slightly yellow tinge and much worse colour shifting when tilted.
Perhaps my iPhone has an LGD panel and others have Samsung panels?
I think you are on to something. I had a 12 but the battery had some issues so I exchanged it for another 12. When booting up the second 12 I immediately noticed that the screen looked way different. The whites were greenish gray and the pwm actually felt a little harsher. The original 12 was built in different factory (DN serial #) vs the second 12 (F1 serial number). I used utools on my second one and could see it was a Samsung panel. I didn’t know this issue existed with my first one so I never checked utools to see if it was a Samsung panel. I suspect it wasn’t because there was such a difference in how they looked. I’d be curious for those that have the inky whites are the ones with the LG panels. Maybe more folks can check using the utools app and see if there is a correlation.

Hey, don't know if it'll help the conversation but I have a yellowish screen with True Tone on, but the color reproduction on photos is more true to life than when True Tone is off.

yellow screen isn't great to have, but after comparing photos with True Tone on and off, the True Tone yellow screen was actually closer to real life.

- I got the 12 mini first- awful yellow display. Returned.
- Got another one, much better - but still yellowish compared to my wife's 11. Then yesterday I compared to a 12 Pro and it's whites were as milky white as the 11 of my wife so 12 mini number 2 also goes back. Not sure what to do at this point. Frustrating as I love the 12s for what they are.
Sadly I started to realize that 12 screens are way worst than 11
I personally went back for an 11 instead of the banana 12 because of that, selling all my MagSafe stuff and all 😭 but I’m finally happy 😊

I’ve turned off true tone, turned on nightshift and put the bar all the way to the left so it’s cooler. The green/yellow tint isn’t as obvious now lol

I have noticed this too. It seems like there is something wrong with how the True Tone is being applied in the software that is causing a lot of the problems with coloration. Very strange.

You're saying that your panel looks better with the nightshift ON (at minimum strenght)?
Sorry but it doesn't make sense.
Nightshift, even with bar on the left, make the screen slightly warmer, obviously. It's supposed to reduce the blue light.

Yes my display is honestly very cool. True Tone makes one side go yellow/green. So I’ve turned it off. But again I don’t want whites too cool so minimum nightshift keeps it slightly warmer and I don’t notice the difference between each side as much

Can you be more specific you had a yellow screen before and now it's gone? HOW
or you bought a new one without a yellow tint
Overtime it was gone. But I do use my phone a lot. Roughly 10 hours or so everyday so the screen stays on the whole time. Also, I have noticed the cold temperate makes the difference too.

I feel general image quality is better on the 12 and I appreciated the higher resolution and contrast. but I hate overly warm screens, but the 12 pro I compared to was really good - whites were on par with iPhone 11 and just pleasent.

Hi, can you be more specific? like you use ur phone with auto brightness all the time? and what do you mean cold temperature? the colder the temperature the more yellow tint?

Do you not think that this is more likely down to you getting used to the device? Otherwise, all of the phones that are on display in the retail stores would show less yellow, since they are on constantly throughout the day - probably way longer than 10 hours.

If you really believe that your display has become less yellow over time, would you mind posting a picture of the screen, compared to another recent Apple device? The other photos you posted were screenshots which aren't any use.

She got used to it, definitely. Or is just trolling.

Oled change during a long term of usage. My iPhone X changed to more red which made it look whites more white and overall different but the whole process took 2 years.

i think that some part of the RGB spectrum fades more in OLED than others is a fact.

I know but definitely not in a couple of months.
