Yeah , friends of forums members have reported not having raised blacks.😅Hi everyone. I’ve reviewed the previous 10-15 pages of this thread and haven’t been able to find an answer to this. Has anyone reported a 12 Pro Max without the raised black issue?
Asking because I’m due to receive a replacement for my launch day 12PM (raised blacks, green tint, flickering) tomorrow. Hoping the replacement will at the very least minimize the raised black issue, but at this point I’m not terribly optimistic.
It is the same on my 12 Pro Max. Colors are not bad but the top is a little bit brighter then the bottom. My girlfriend can’t see it. It’s just a little bit.I'd say it would be nearly impossible if all screens aren't already identical but as seen it this thread - they are all a bit different. It would require each display measured and then corrected. Possible but I find it unlikely and cannot be done remotely.
Only thing that could work is that if displays are identical in certain oled batches, to detect which is which and then make individual correction tables for each batch.
Anyway, I don't find my display colors too bad but I hate that upper and lower half of the display are not identical. Bottom is dimmer and a bit greenish while upper part brighter and pinkish. But I guess many peoples are not sensitive to this issue?
Huh? I've been buying iPhones since 3Gs - I've never had any issues until today with the iPhone 12 Pro Max... nobody is searching for the perfect phone, but the least we want is what is advertised with no "minor" issues such as uncalibrated screens.Every phone has one issue. You will NEVER find a 100% perfect issue free phone.
One time it is the display, next time the buttons, next time scratches, next time loose mute switch, ...
I would say in Your case I would soften the blow by buying the cheapest model or getting last years model like the iPhone 11 that starts at 599$ so these imperfections won’t bother you as much. Anytime you spend over a 1000 you wont accept anything less than perfection and it probably won’t happen with a mass produced product. I’m not debating whether we should put up with it, I’m just giving suggestions to mitigate itI received my 5th unit. Now I have 2 pro max to compare.
The comparison is literally driving me nuts.
both unit start with F2L even if they have a month of difference.
the new one have no raised black and in the most situation a less aggressive True Tone but it has a looser mute button.
the old has an slightly whiter screen with a full white image, but the weird thing is that sometimes old and new nave opposite behaviours.
that’s a mind blowing game.
Any suggestion?
i’m used to True Tone so I think I’ll keep te new, but this things that sometimes the old has a better True Tone is crazy.
So what you’re saying is that your new device has NO raised blacks issue? Is the greenish tint at low brightness gone too? That would be the first 12 Pro Max I’m reading about that doesn’t have these issues anymore. What’s the production week of the new device?
This is not normal for OLED. My X did not have that, neither did my wife's X.It is the same on my 12 Pro Max. Colors are not bad but the top is a little bit brighter then the bottom. My girlfriend can’t see it. It’s just a little bit.
This is normal for OLED. It is difficult to find a OLED display which is 100% even. You may have to change your phone 10x times to get one. To much waisted time and money for me. If the display is good for me I stay with the phone. A little bit unevenness is ok for me.

My 12 Pro has noticeable difference between top and bottom. My wife's 12 Pro is better, I really need to look carefully to see it and not a big issue in normal use.
I guess I could live with mine if there was not also difference in hue between top (pinkish) and bottom (greenish/bluish).
Panels like this should be rejected IMHO, phone costing 4 figures should have good screens. I could accept that in a phone with a price tag 200-300. These phone sized panels are cheap, as you can see similar sized OLED's can be found in phone costing under 200, so for the 12 Pro price, we should get decent panels!
I have already posted but here is a link to theseCan you post a picut
Can you post a picture like this?
Then I can see your tint from top to bottom
I looks not so pink in reality, it’s because I have screen protector and the camera takes rainbow onto it
So damn true. That’s the thing with exchanging game. If you get a phone and have some minor issues live with it. It’s driving you crazy over time ...

Are replacements done under the 14 day return period guaranteed new or not ? I’m referring to the return option under orders, there’s also an option there for replacement.I received my 5th unit. Now I have 2 pro max to compare.

I was told I'd receive a new one when it was within the 14 day return period. Are replacements done under the 14 day return period guaranteed new or not ? I’m referring to the return option under orders, there’s also an option there for replacement.
I would not consider that option at all since they are more or less going to be warranty replacements (in terms) and you may likely get a new one but I'm pretty sure they evaluate your phone and are you sure they consider it faulty? If not you are probably stuck with what ever you receive from them (if they even replace it after evaluation)...Also not sure if the new ones are white box or retail units in this case? I would not take a phone I just paid full price for under warranty replacement product code. Are replacements done under the 14 day return period guaranteed new or not ? I would just do return and repurchase if you are within the 14 day window. Apple may not continue to give you exchanges. If you return then you can do that as many times as want. Are replacements done under the 14 day return period guaranteed new or not ? That’s what I did before, Cheers.I would just do return and repurchase if you are within the 14 day window. Apple may not continue to give you exchanges. If you return then you can do that as many times as want.
I thought they flag u down if u do too many returns? Am I wrong?I would just do return and repurchase if you are within the 14 day window. Apple may not continue to give you exchanges. If you return then you can do that as many times as want.
Well, so much for that. Apple put the wrong address on the shipping label for my Express Replacement 12PM. Not sure yet how I’ll proceed, but I may try to return mine and get an 11PM. Never had any display problems with my 11P.Hi everyone. I’ve reviewed the previous 10-15 pages of this thread and haven’t been able to find an answer to this. Return it. Unless you want to go through what you mentionedJust received my new 12 mini yesterday, having upgraded from an XR. Out of the box I knew something was wrong with the display, it had such an insanely yellow tint. Sitting next to my XR it was wild that the 2 year old XR with an LCD display was better able to reproduce colours and whites than my brand new, much more expensive, OLED-equipped device! I googled it straight away and, much to my disappointment, discovered that it’s a widespread issue once I found this thread, amongst others. I have started a support case with apple and they are ringing me tomorrow to discuss it.
My question is this. Should I go through the whole rigmarole of exchanging the 12 mini for a new one seeing as I’m in the 14 day return window? Given that the issues with the display seem so widespread, there’s no guarantee that any new 12 mini I was given would be free from this issue and it seems a complete lottery.
Or, should I instead return the mini, and buy a used XR to tide me over until the iPhone 13’s are released? I‘ve already given away my old XR to my Dad, who was running a 6, and is delighted with his new phone, so don’t have the heart to get that one back. I have paid for AppleCare+ on the 12 mini, if that makes any difference.
Return and go with XR? Do you think the 12’s are a write-off in terms of the display issues? No chance a software update could fix it? Or just wait it out with my AppleCare+ and demand an exchange at a later date?Return it. Unless you want to go through what you mentioned
